Day Dreaming While Playing

My mind tends to wander while I play and I often come up with odd questions or curiosities. When I am playing on a team I will usually mention them in chat. Today I've been going solo, so I decided to just jot them down as they came to me.

Here is today's sampling (so far):

Silly Questions…

1) So.. in “rescue the hostage” missions that take place in office buildings filled with screaming people… the hostages were the ones who just got tired of running, right?

2) The dictionary defines Statesman as “a person who is experienced in the art of government or is versed in the administration of government affairs.” Is there no depth to which John Edwards will stoop in self-glorification?

3) If their builders could make them anyway they wanted… why do Vahzilok Abominations wear black leather shorts?

4) With regards to Karma and cosmic balance, can hours spent playing a hero balance out acts of evil you do in real life?

5) And if so, how long do I have to play to make up for accidentally dropping my wife’s favorite houseplant down 2 flights of stairs?

6) The Atlas Statue is a structural impossibility which leads one to think that it was created and maintained by someone with stone shaping powers. This being the case; what happens when that person dies?

7) How come we don’t see any Lost with the digital converter boxes hooked up to their television helmets?

8) Does a Rikti with a speech impediment speak with a semi-colon?

9) If a wailer has a stuttering problem does it become damage over time?

10) If a new Skull gang member has to start at the bottom and work their way up; are they initially called a Metatarsal?

11) Is the reason there are so few cars in Paragon City because most people can run faster than the posted speed limit?

12) Were the war walls sponsored by the Paragon Transit Authority as a way to force heroes to use their railway?

13) Do the cops all hand out radios to every hero they can find as a means of reducing their workload?

14) Do you think that when someone told the Warden at the Zig he should have an “Open Door Policy” he thought they meant the front gate?

15) If Chris Jenkins were ever kidnapped by a villain; do you think a single hero would lift a finger to help him?

16) Do all the city’s perverted old men hang out at Spanky’s Boardwalk?

17) Does anyone else besides me think it’s funny that when you use the Lost Cure all the un-cured Lost begin attacking their former comrades?

18) Does the fact that Sister Psyche and Manticore spend every hour of every day in completely separate sections of the city mean their marriage is more likely to last?

19) Shouldn’t there be a low-level enemy group in the Rogue Isles called the Heavenions?

20) Does AE Corps have a non-disclosure contract with all its patrons? I mean, if I were to create a “mission” called “I Married Doc Delilah” can I be sure it won’t get back around to her who made it? She hits HARD.

Hmmm... this might explain why no one ever invites me to team more than once.

Well, that and my way of greeting people who just joined the team:

"Welcome to the madness, now with fresh lemony scent!"

"Welcome to the madness.. now with Bingo every Thursday night!"

"Welcome to the madness.. now completely in digital and surround sound!"

"Welcome to the madness... now with Nude Hamidon Wrestling every Friday!"

"Welcome to the madness... please feel free to enjoy our complimentary cookie table!"

And so on.. a different one (made up on the spot) for every new person. It's amazing how quickly they quit my team after a while.

It's a steel (or impervium) framework with a stone skin. The earliest version only used the stone covering on the continents of the globe, the rest of the globe's framework was exposed.

(Yeah, i had to answer one question semi-seriously. Awesome list of quasi-imponderables though.)

This one took me awhile to get but I finally got it and didn't now whether to laugh or groan.

Also, what sever are you on? I think I would want to join your team just to hear your ramblings

I have characters on every server..

Villains Only: Freedom, Infinity, Liberty, Triumph and Virtue
Heroes Only: Champion, Guardian, Justice, Protector and Victory
Pinnacle is reserved for characters I create specifically to play with my kids' characters.

Oh, and I have a very definite system for which of my characters goes next. My spreadsheets tell me how to play the game. But I created the spreadsheets...

I'm not sure who's really in control of this process, come to think of it.

But they filled it in at some point in the future apparently. Because on the ruined Atlas Park map the broken globe seems pretty solid inside.

Take one look at Paragon City's streets. Those cops need all the help they can get.

Yeah, great post, but it leaves me wondering...

Do you write these down as you think of them, or are you amazingly able to recall them all when you entered the post?

All due respect, Steel, but Rick James said it better than I ever could.

...But many of your thoughts are things I myself have briefly wondered. So kudos to you.

This time around I wrote them as I was playing.. I had a Word Document up and just typed 'em in when they flitted into my brain...

I actually had an idea once to do something similar while reviewing people's MA stories. It didn't work out so well though since it really disrupted my game play and you people are WAAAY to fond of the triggered ambush.

It's enclosed in an AeonTech DoubleTalk(tm) stasis field that keeps the stone from being affected by the stresses imposed on it by gravity. The same type of device was built into many of Paragon City's buildings during the last big construction boom, which is why you see buildings in Faultline and Boomtown standing canted at angles which would cause a building made of any normal construction material to shear and collapse. The field generator, can, however, be overloaded, which is why some buildings exhibit damage while others don't.

Okay, so today I played my Ninja/Storm Summoning MasterMind on Triumph. I figured it would only be fair to do a villain side perspective in the same manner.

You can probably tell by all the Luddite references that I was playing her in Cap. Oh, and No this won't be a regular thing... Two days in a row should be enough.. no need to run this joke into the ground any more than I already have..

21) So if the Super Science pack will allow me to transform my male villain into a female villain, will it let my Robotic Mastermind change his pets from a robot into a Ferrari?

22) Brokers use the paper as a means of putting out various jobs. There are thousands of villains who use their services. So…. Other than advertisements is there a single legitimate news story in the paper… ever?

23) Shouldn’t the badge for destroying all the cars in Mayhem missions be called “Insurance Premium Multiplier”? Or perhaps, from the Insurance company’s perspective… “Act of God”?

24) Do you think Atlas privately wishes he was carrying the atom sphere from Cap Au Diable?

25) How do you think Atlas’s widow feels about all those people standing between her husband’s legs every day and arguing about who’s prettiest?

26) Exactly how does Steamy Mist make people unaware of your presence when you’re in buildings? Do they think a water main broke directly above a heating element?

27) Does Foreshadow’s shadow ever appear behind him?

28) If the Luddites despise and reject all technology why did they agree to appear in a video game?

29) Considering the ratio of parked cars to cars actually driven in Atlas Park and King’s Row, could destroying them during Mayhem missions be considered “Community Service”?

30) Did the Luddites have anything to do with the fact that there isn’t a single driven car anywhere in the Rogue Isles? Or did Lord Recluse take the “Going Green” campaign too far?

31) If someone born and raised in the Rogue Isles sees a car summoned by a Grav Dominator’s Propel power… do they think it’s alien technology?

32) Considering their anti-computer/technology stance.. shouldn’t the Luddite with the axe be called something other than a Hacker?

33) Longbow DOES realize the Rogue Isles aren’t under American jurisdiction, right?

34) Should we just assume that every civilian we see in Nerva is actually an off-duty Longbow or Wyvern agent?

35) If your own pets kill your Debuff Anchor first; is it a sign of job dissatisfaction? Should you bring it up at their next performance review?

36) If the dev’s ever nerf Gale would that mean they had “broken wind”?

37) Who in the heck thought the Hellions were so bad-[censored] that they felt compelled to create a Rogue Isles chapter?

38) Those Clockwork in that one Marshal Brass mission… how are they getting the metal they steal back to Paragon?

39) Why are there “tarts” in Port Oakes but not St Martial?

40) Do you think that Barracuda would love to see Saliva do an updated re-mix of the old Heart song?

41) Does anyone besides me get a huge kick out of the fact that the Placate animation is the Jedi mind trick hand wave?

42) Do you get the feeling that contacts who send you to Security Chiefs, PVP Zone Officials or Hero Corps Reps are just trying to get rid of you?

There are, but the Family or Jezebel Jones sets them up in swanky hotels.

I always assumed that they could see the building fill up with mist, so they know something's happening. But the mist is too thick for them to actually see you.

A very entertaining read as always.

Actually there are driven cars and trucks in some parts of Port Oakes and St. Martial.
