Science Booster pack coming

While I haven't gotten any of them yet, though I have liked the emotes/powers/costume pieces (just not THAT into that kind of stuff), the new science one described in the latest Test patch has me considering it:

"Additionally, you will be able to change your character's height. So characters can change from a short, skinny civilian to a HUGE powered brute!"

There is more in the pack, but that feature immediately made me think of my long detested Energy/Energy blaster. I *hate* playing him because, for whatever reason, I just made him too freaking tall. If he runs into melee I can't see crap, and if he's blasting from afar....I can't see crap. Even with the miniscule leg height changing that came about, it wasn't anywhere near enough. But now.......

Is the pack worth it just for that for one character? O.o

I say yes! but my opinion doesn't matter because all my characters are shorties

You can change your height already. Its a feature I use on my 2 main characters. Black Emporer changes from an average sized human (6ft tall, medium build) to completely maxxed out(on all scales) demon between size changes.
My crab does that too. His epic costume is completely maxxed out in all scales (and Crab Spider Longfang enemies are STILL bigger!), but a couple of his other costumes, including his Vangaurd set, only show his actual size and build.

Yeah, I'm a little confused... can you not do this already? Or is it only your leg height you can adjust? And if you can't do this already, I find it a little lame that they're making you buy a booster to do it... that's a feature that they should already have...

At any rate, I'm not really interested in this one. I don't have any real scientist characters, and I have enough goggle and hair options. If I were to get another pack, it'd probably be the cyborg... I don't have enough techy/armor options for my characters.

Well, we definitely don't have the ability to change character model right now, and I agree that it is lame that they are making this a for pay addition. I was going to buy it anyway, but this is a large enough feature that it should be rolled into the normal costume creator.

As I said, you only marginally change the length of the height of your legs (for lack of a better description). I've already tried this for the character in-question and it gave me no real satisfaction.

I haven't seen the booster effect yet, but I'm going with the assumption the leg-height changing is not the same as going from whatever the max height is (8ft?) to the min height (3ft?)

I haven't played with the sliders too much, so that's why I was uncertain. I play with that stuff when I'm first making a character, to get them where I want to be. If they look a little weird running around in the opening zone, I delete and rework (took me a bit to realize that changing the hips actually changes how a character runs... a lot).

So, I'm finding this annoying. They identified that "hey we should let everyone have costume change emotes" thing, but not that this should be a universal feature. Very confusing to me, especially since they already have the sliders and body type choice at character start, and part of that at all times in the tailor screen. I'm... somewhat reconciled to the whole booster thing as it has been done before, but this... is not a good idea. I know it ties in with the whole "Jekyll and Hyde" idea for the Science pack, but I'm sure there are a few people in Voo's position, and that's got nothing to do with a Science theme. I think they couldn't think up enough stuff to add and had this idea... I could be wrong, but it's still not good, in my book.

After seeing those, I'm definitely meh on this booster, which is fine. Part of me still wants the Cyborg and Valkyrie packs, so it's good not to tack another one on to that list. Hopefully all the mad scientist wannabes out there are happy, though.

Wow... I was right. I was seriously hoping I was pessimistic, but I wasn't. Here's Castle's quote on the subject. Kind of sad. You would think some unique auras or smallish buff/debuff power would have been better. Anyway, I'm still surprised they didn't pick up on how problematic this feature is. Blech.

I played around with these features last night after Isos, and they seem cool. One issue I noticed for changing body size was the fact that none of my earned free tailor sessions could be used. The new emotes need a bit of fine tuning.

This isn't a matter of playing with the sliders. I believe they're talking about completely different body-types, from a slim female to a Huge-Body type.

Yup, figured that out when I read about the booster some more a while back. Check your post dates. Thanks for the help, though.

Costume Pieces look pretty blah for me, the ability to change body type also pretty blah.

However, I'm not really into RPing my characters. I guess if you do this would be pretty cool. I used to team with a guy "star(something)" and he rp'd as a demon trapped in a body with a hero, he did a pretty good job of switching costumes between the two along with clever binds.

Nope, I won't be buying this booster.

Evil laugh would work pretty good for a transformation like that. The whole bursting into flame and laughing is a nice touch. Actually like most of the new costume change emotes. Peacebringer and WS aren't a big surprise, as it's the same thing you'll see when you switch forms right now (but it works for costume switching, too).

Anyone seen a video of the Vanguard Sigil change? Don't want to waste 100 merits if it isn't cool (and of course, it HAD to be another 100 merits... like it wasn't enough for the costume already).

Christmas in July? Madness! Heh.

Thanks for the link... that looks pretty cool, actually. Just not sure if I want that before or after I complete the rest of the VG costume a couple of my heroes have.

I like that, but not enough to pay for it

100 merits isn't too bad... it's just bad when included with the total of the rest of the costume. I have paid that willingly for the Redding Rifle and some other Talsorian weapons that I like the look of, but not for others. So I know what you mean.

Was this one in the notes? I saw it mentioned in a menu command, but couldn't figure out what it was for. Didn't realize it was something unlockable. Not like it worked for me when I tried it

Will have to see it from home I guess. 100 merits is nothing; I got a few thousand lying around doing nothing. Why can't I sell/trade/give these away again?

I need to suggest Rikti-O's again lol! Some time ago, someone was suggesting what to do with excess VG merits and I tossed in Rikti Origin Enhancements (RO's). The post has long been purged.
In short they would be like HO's or sHO's. Maybe could add a twist to the mixing of attributes they enhance. Plus they could start to be available at 40, 45, and 50 (thus can be out leveled).
With things like the rewards from the Titan, there would be prior precedence to add them.
And the story of their origin would be from the LGTF and the fact that the Rikti attack Hamidon, and stole enough information to create RO’s (to combat the sHO’s that heroes and villains can get).
The prices would be around 1500 to 2000 merits, which I think would be enough raids/mission work to equal a STF or LRSF and be something we could spend our merits on. Maybe I should PM a dev finally.

By all means. Though the LGTF is now just 45+, so not sure if having these available at 40 makes sense

Also, toss in why we STILL can't have offline invites/promotion/demotion for SGs.
