Yes, it's the "avoid playing the game as much as possible" paradigm.
I can do that anywhere at anytime. I generally log into the game to, well, actually play it.
[/ QUOTE ]
Not fair. I'm still playing the game--just not in the same way you are.
[/ QUOTE ]
You mean just not as much as I am.
Gameplay consists of fighting things. If you avoid fighting things, you're avoiding gameplay. Q.E.D.

Emphasis mine.
<pause for LOL>
Seriously? What about role-playing? Playing the markets? Base-building? Badge-hunting? These are just a few examples of gameplay that doesn't involve "fighting things".
I'm not saying I don't steamroll...just not ALL THE TIME. It is not the only way I know how to play the game.
Since sarcasm/silly intention is somehow difficult for some people to grasp (not you in particular, FallSe7en):

What about role-playing?

Fighting boredom. The paradigm. The man. The limits of your keyboard. The urge to mock the "MatureRPers" in the corner of Virtue Pocket D.

Playing the markets?

PvP by any other name. (Although I actually treat it as such.)

Base-building?
[/ QUOTE ]
Player versus engine limits, base size limits, the sky.
[ QUOTE ]
Badge-hunting?
[/ QUOTE ]
Player versus OCD. And possibly other players, depending on the motivation.

Ahh i actually have a lvl 46 fire/thermal controller on virtue, however, you definetly shouldn't have any trouble getting a team. Communication is the big thing here. As others have said, check out some of the servers channels, you should be golden
Combat Kangaroos, Justice Server. First 50's
Jirra Roo Plant/Storm/Stone/Musculature Controller
Combat Kangaroo Rifle/Energy/Mace/Spiritual Blaster
Kung Fu Kangaroo Martial Arts/Reflexes/Body/Spiritual Scrapper
Tribal Arc Shield/Elec/Mu/Spiritual Tanker
There are usually people looking for ITFs on "Virtue LFG Alpha" as well. That's how I've joined most of my recent TF teams that haven't started with me just going to Cim to hang around Rommy for a team.
As for the idea of steamroller teams going for 1:45 or more..... wow. That just really hurts my head to even consider. I was shocked to see teammates declare 2:16 to be a good time after an ITF last week. Kinda scared me to think that way.
For a while there we were averaging 60-75 minutes for ITF runs, picking up whoever was around to fill in spots with my usual teammates. Can't say the emphasis was on speed for those so much as just everyone being on the same page. Been a while since I had any of the regulars for that though.

a competent stealth team will always be faster than a competent steamroller team.
[/ QUOTE ]
So I have heard, but I've never seen that actually manifest.
I simply no longer believe stealthing to be a good tactic for any TF or SF and won't participate in it any more. I have yet to see any instance where stealthing actually saved more time than it ultimately cost. The best stealth team I've seen has finished a TF exactly five minutes LATER than a similar steamroll team.
I just simply don't believe it any more.
And besides all of that, I find stealthing immensely BORING to boot.
So, no significant time savings, less XP from fewer kills, and boredom.
No more stealthing for me.

I prefer to fight it out on the highest difficulty,<snip>
[/ QUOTE ]Well, of course. How else are you going to die 20 times in 2 hours?

Conversely, I find stealthing more fun than just steamrolling because it's something besides the "run around and beat everything that moves till it stops" paradigm of playing.

Since having different tastes is not allowed, you two will have to fight to the death.

skip the mountain path and jump/fly/teleport up the side of the mountain; avoid killing the enemies at the top of the stairs to avoid the Nictus ambush, try to keep everyone behind the altar to ensure that Sister Psyc-- Solaris actually goes to the altar, instead of bubbling people and fighting.
[/ QUOTE ]
It was kind of funny, the one ITF I did where I wound up playing guide because half the team had never done it before; we went up the mountain path and cleared everything there, then we went up the right-side stairs and did a careful counterclockwise sweep of the top of the mountain, taking everyone else out and then trimming the group with the Minotaur from the back until the Minotaur aggroed, finally clearing the top. One of the team grabbed Sister Solaris as I warn everyone to watch out for the altar, and she runs through her spiel and then is led to the altar, going through her ritual as people start asking "Where's the ambush?" The mission completes, still no ambush. Not one to look a gift horse in the mouth, we exited, just as happy _not_ to face the swarm of Khelds.
"But in our enthusiasm, we could not resist a radical overhaul of the system, in which all of its major weaknesses have been exposed, analyzed, and replaced with new weaknesses."
