Does anyone else use spreadsheets to track their investments? Or the market prices?

About every few days, I log in and record the avg price for a number of lvl 50 recipies and crafted enhancements. My spreadsheet then calculates the delta minus 10% for listing, 500k for crafting and about 1M for salvage .... Viola! I know which recipies I should go for.

Anyone use something more complex?

I use spreadsheets for some of the more complicated stuff, like calculating profits from stacks of recipes to be vendored, etc. But for tracking pricing, I don't bother. There's so much volatility, even from hour to hour, that unless I'm sitting there all day every day it's not going to help much.

I prefer to just find a niche, abuse it for a week and then move on. Much less work for about the same reward.

Something more complex?

Seriously?

My process:
1) Look at prices.
2) Shrug and say, "Eh, what the hell?"
3) ???
4) Profit.

Basically this.

I just stick to about 20 particular recipes. Bid on a stack of 10 for about 25-50% of going price, then get the stacks and sell them for 250-500% of whatever I paid. Rinse repeat. If a stack cycles quickly this way, next week I might do two stacks. Each stack will clear around 8-25M per cycle, and takes maybe a week to cycle. Unfortunately, I'm not really playing much CoH at the moment, but I log in maybe an hour or two a week to set up my bids and watch the money pile in.

Way too much effort. I only deal with a handful of times. If some of them move out of favor, or are less volatile for a period of time, I don't earn any funds from the market. (shrug) I don't need to have a steady stream of influence from the market so I don't put much effort into it.

I'm mostly here too... The only difference is that I assign toons to specific strategies...

My primary marketeers (one Blue, one Red) "rove" like that. My secondary guys, craft
common IO's, and my "active" guys vendor recipes... The guys below that aren't worth
worrying about, and don't really market much, as I'm not gonna catch dave_p anyway...
(I'm ok with that ... honest)

I deal mostly in crafting set IOs, and I have a reeeeeeally bad memory. I keep track of my purchases/sales with a spreadsheet to remember both 'was that salvage I bought for this thing last night 400k or 1 million?' and '... what was that thing I was selling for eight times the cost it took me to make last week?' I've been considering releasing it once I'm happy with my profits on the off-chance that it could be useful to anybody else, either as an example of how to make money on the market or in proving/disproving market myths.

Lots of big name posts in here. I appreciate that. I use the spreadsheet to let me know if a price that I see going now is high or low (historically speaking). Otherwise, I have the potential to buy something at a price that I think is fair only to find out it was high.

I only look at a few items. It's a big market, and I don't need to siphon all of it. I pick a few things that go reliably, with a relatively high volume (high volume means different things at different price points). Anything more involved than that would take more time and effort than I'm willing to devote to it.

I might jot down some notes on a particular IO when I first look at it as a possibility, but once it's into my rotation I have my price points memorized. I'm very good with numbers anyway, so I'm doing rough profit estimates in my head as I go.

any willin to offer me some "marketing training" i would really appreciate it i am a long time f/k farmer and i do have a money capped toon but i never played the market plzz teach me the ways of the ebill marketeer

I actually use a spreadsheet to keep up with my toons influence/infamy numbers. I keep track of each toon, how much inf they have on hand and how much they have invested in market schemes.

I do this mostly because I am curious to see how much inf I am making each week/month/etc...

But, I don't have a spreadsheet keeping market numbers up to date. That seems like a TON of work to keep up with enough to make it meaningful.

I actually use a spreadsheet to keep track of items I am following or when I want to see how profitable an item might be. Sometimes doing the numbers in my head doesn't work so I plug it in and then go on my merry way.

If anybody is interested and knows of a good file hosting site that I can upload it to and post a link, just point me in the right direction and I'd be happy to set it up.

Why not do like you usually do, and offer up a fake 400million inf prize for someone to do something for you?

Check the linked thread... Rather than assume the allegations are correct, I asked outright
in that thread if anybody had actually been paid for their posted builds...

Answer from OP? <crickets>

I've made the appropriate "credibility" entry into my personal notes...

Actually, the one I'm refering to is this one here. Where he said he would pay me, and didn't. Then he started one in the blaster forum. THEN he thought changing his name would fix the issue of people knowing what a tool he is. That last part I find pretty funny.
