nVidia GeForce 9600 GT game crash
Need more info on your system specs (particularly the Wattage of your PSU) - a CoHHelper log might also be helpful.
And also sorry, but the old, "It works in every other game..." declaraction means nothing as CoH really pushes video cards harder than nearly any other MMO or modern FPS game on teh market. I tend to think the card is drawing more power than the PSU is reliably rated for when you start using CoH.
yeah we need a hijack this and a cohhelper log.
Right away im thinking...
1) some new piece of software or something malicious
2) heat! get some compressed air, it might be your CPU gettin warm (i've had this happen before, and CoH heats up my cpu more than crysis, think about it )
3) Tell the updater to verify all files. Remember, just because you run the updater doesn't mean its verifying the files its running. It will only do that unless you crash out! Or, you tell it to.
4) Scandisk/Defrag. Lost cluster over a Certian CoH file mebe?
5) ram chip gone trumps, CoH uses a lot of ram but im sure your other games would of noticed this too
I could go on and on, but you say nothing else is giving you the trouble. My wife has had that card for about a year now, no worries so far. Show us some logs. the people here should be able to help you
Combat Kangaroos, Justice Server. First 50's
Jirra Roo Plant/Storm/Stone/Musculature Controller
Combat Kangaroo Rifle/Energy/Mace/Spiritual Blaster
Kung Fu Kangaroo Martial Arts/Reflexes/Body/Spiritual Scrapper
Tribal Arc Shield/Elec/Mu/Spiritual Tanker
I've got the same card, and I've been running into constant crashes as well. Mine seems to be a driver crash; every time, I get an error message saying that the driver has recovered. Updating the driver through Nvidia doesn't seem to help, as I still get the crashes.
Do I need to find a different driver? How would I go about doing that?
We'll always have Paragon.
I'd recommend starting with Zloth's ++ Common Solutions & Posting Guidelines ++ thread that is stickied in this forum.
Secondly, post a log from running CoH Helper as it will give information about your system and the CoH installation and settings.
Thirdly, post a log from running HijackThis. This will show what else is going on on your computer while you are playing CoH.
If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.
Black Pebble is my new hero.

Hopefully this helps out. Any other advice would be greatly appreciated!
Turn off all the un-needed junk running in the background like the Google Updater, Google Desktop, Ipod stuff (including Bonjour and mDNS), Punkbuster, TeamSpeak, uTorrent, etc.
Your C drive is getting very low on space. Windows will have occaisional problems with that little free space, especially with the Swap File. Move what you can to a different drive to free up a little space on the C drive so that you can be sure it isn't an issue with the Swap File usage or anything along those lines.
Are you connecting to a router using wireless to run the game? If so, try running an ethernet cable from your computer to the router to make sure it isn't some type of wireless interference or other wireless issues causing the problems.

Not sure if this makes a difference, but CoH is on my e:drive and teamspeak is on my d:drive. i turned off the recommened things like the ipod and punkbuster. is there any kind of log that would tell what happens when the game crashes?
This has nothing to do with scandisk or defrag or running processes and everything to do with the new Nvuidia drivers.
<QR>
I have a GeForce 9600GT, and the 185.85 drivers too... and I don't have any issues.
Just sayin..

Since you don't have the new drivers, it obviously won't apply to you.
To make it clear: 185.85 is not a new driver. That's the old one.

Holy cow I posted my initial post in the wrong thread. I'm a fool for having so many windows open. Err OP... don;t update to the new drivers.. you won;t even get the 5 minutes!
Lol.
<QR>
I just installed 186.18 just to check.. and logged back in...
The game loaded just fine and I'm jumping around and using powers without any issues.
I was having similar problems on my previous PC running Windows XP. After that got stolen, I acquired a laptop with better specs and a better Nvidia card with Windows Vista and was having the same problem. In one of the threads around here, someone suggested that the ndisplay-driver-recovered crashes were a timing issue and to try underclocking the video card a tiny amount. So I downloaded whatever extra kibble it is from nvidia that enables those advanced settings in the Nvidia control panel and underclocked just a smidge and haven't had any crashes since.

Glad someone is actually testing the 186.18 drivers and reporting on whether they work.
Out of curiosity Mateo, what OS version are you running that on?

[/ QUOTE ] Sorry.. I should have clarified..
I'm using XP, just like the OP in this thread.
Strangely enough, I'm also using almsot the same exact motherboard too. haha
My processor is quad though.

That sounds like it's probably my problem. Do you remember exactly what you did, or where I could find out how to do the same?
We'll always have Paragon.
Now that u mention it, my buddy (who is the computer guy that put my computer together, but now lives 2500mi away) did overclock my computer. I gotta go back to the shop anyways, i guess i should have them take it down a little, right?
I had a lot of problems when I started playing again a little over a month ago. Upgraded to 185.85 and I'm running flawlessly now. Haven't crashed since.
Oh, and I also have a 9600GT.
Currently on Virtue:
Jinrazuo - Crab Spider
RWZ All-Pylon Solo Run
So i installed Riva Tuner and started tweaking my overclocking. Well my graphics card was not overclocked and it seems to be working fine. Maybe my OS system is overclocked?
I tried playing Command & Conquer 3 several times and now even that game is crashing my system to! im thinking the problem could be my driver, i have uninstalled/re-installed it, took off the nVidia firewall, got the latest patch (185.85). But still crash!!
What can i do to test the difference between a bad driver and a bad graphics card?
Back at the beginning of Mar09 i have been noticing that i have been crashing 5mins into the game. I have owned my nvidia geforce 9600 GT card for over a year and never had a problem with it til then. I diont see any driver updates or game patches that coincide with when the game started crashing. I have gone to 3 different computer stores and they told me my graphics card is working fine. I have no problem with any other of my computer games so i know im not overheating or anything like that. Anyone have any suggestions, sources or links to help me get back to the game?
