Morning folks. Angry mood today. My cat got in a climbing mood and knocked over a shelf containing several custom blown glass pieces. I wont be able to replace those anytime soon if ever. Luckily some of my more expensive pieces survived. Not really interested in dropping between $400 and $800 a piece for some of the hand carved stuff again.

Isn't Arcanus Numina's real last name?

Anyway, hello everyone!

Edited and added you Pulc

Yay thanks!

And I probably won't play a scrapper so you have a chance at aggroing something...

G'morning all. The Wall Street Journal ran a hideous article on global warming today, full of wild generalizations and prophecies of doom. The thing is full of lines like "as the effects of global warming have worsened" and similar. As a result, I'll be spending my free time today writing up a well-reasoned and scientifically backed attack on it.

*stops and takes a deep breath*

Anyway, has anyone rolled an Plant or Illusion Troller for that group yet? I've a few (dozen) characters ready to be made for it.

hmmm ... Doc Fortune?

That would have to be a rad/rad defender

Also, added you Emgro, and you can roll up any AT you want

Posted

Well what ATs and powersets do we know we have right now?

Threw together a police-themed Shield/Mace Tanker if you still have any spots, Em. Named The Bravery.

I look forward to reading your well-reasoned scientifically backed response.

And welcome Sidney! Now I have spent the day watching old Cash videos.

That is real sad to hear from the WSJ, especially since global temperatures are going down. Guess that would have nothing at all to do with sun activity. OH NOS. We're heading into a new ice age ... due to too much CO2 trapped in the atmosphere.

Ok. wrote to MODERATOR 08 asking him about the name. His response:

Pogothulu,

I couldn't tell you for sure, however my gut instinct says you are pretty safe. Of course it is always up to the in game GM's but I highly doubt you will have any issue with it.

Wish I could tell you more,

On a side note, saw my first lvl-pact ding. They hit 38 together, I was just behind them, and the hit like two pillars to either side of me. Looked VERY cool.

Oh, and Hello all.

I want to play "Late for the Party" if there's still space. She'll never actually make the team because she'll be ... late. (You know ... can't make a 6 pm start.) OOO. Better yet, I'll play "Stood up at the Alter" and purchase the wedding pack for her.

Anyway, have a great time all. Regular teams like that are the best.

Ummmm, somehow I'm dubious, but if you can, it may well be a first, so good luck with that.

Of course you can. There's as much "proof" against global warming as there is for it.

I call Global Warming a Global Hoax myself.

Couldn't 'Global Warming' be a side-effect of us, as a planet in galactic orbit, be passing the equivalent of the 'galactic equator' in a few years?

Quite possible. There's evidence that the warming/cooling cycle has repeated before.

The fact that the climate of the planet is fluctuating is fairly well fact, as far as I know. However, whether or not humans are to blame, or it's merely a cycle outside of our control is open to debate. I, personally, am somewhere in the middle. I think Man has caused some fluctuation in the climate. We've altered the world too much not to have had some impact (i.e. the Butterfly Effect); but on the other hand, there's also proof that the Earth's weather patterns are ever changing. And technically we're still coming out of a little Ice Age.

Here's an easily read one by scientists

Michael Crichton's better known argument for skepticism

Normally I'd provide a balancing point, but those are fairly easy to find, including today's WSJ articles.

Considering that nearly half of relevant scientists at my university view AGW as dubious at best, it's hardly a rare view. The media would have you believe otherwise. As for relevant science, I mean geologists, meteorologists, paleobiologists, and so forth. Among policy people and liberal arts, it's pretty much taken for granted.

Anyway, I'll probably roll up some kind of controller for the static team. I'll post the name when I get a chance to make the character.
