Unfortunately, it seems to be a moot point. Despite being on the same computer that I last played the game on, I seem to be having a strange graphical error on my new monitor. From the time that the game loads the login screen, everything has a green tint. I've messed with the graphics settings in game and the various ways that Vista allows a program to run.
Not really willing to hook up another monitor or change my settings in general for one game, so.. -
I bought CoH when it was first released in 2004. Since, I have logged about 18-24 months of played time on two separate accounts. In other words, I've always been an on-again, off-again player. The content of the game has always felt a bit "blah" to me, but there was always a better community to be found in CoX than anywhere else in the world of MMO's.
That said, I'm bored by most of the other games on the market that I have tried. I'm just waiting for the expansion in my old mainstay, and Champions lacks the connected feel that I have always found to be present in CoH. However, I'm curious, has CO stolen any of CoX's fire? I'm interested in the expansion, but I don't want to return to a game that's lacking the elements that have helped me to enjoy it in the past.
So, how is it? I know the free weekend will give me a cross-section to look at, but you more loyal Virutue-ites are sure to have a better feel than anyone as to the liveliness of the game. -
Yes, and I have a feeling our Overlords would frown upon such a gesture.

I'm not going to lie - sitting here right now wanting to play Bravery. Turns out I like Shields/Mace more than I thought I would.

Went well tonight considering we were missing our fearless leader (
). Managed to get through sewers and through a handful of King's Row missions, bringing us to level 10 (sorry I got disconnected on the last bank mission). Any idea when we'll run next?

The fact that the climate of the planet is fluctuating is fairly well fact, as far as I know. However, whether or not humans are to blame, or it's merely a cycle outside of our control is open to debate. I, personally, am somewhere in the middle. I think Man has caused some fluctuation in the climate. We've altered the world too much not to have had some impact (i.e. the Butterfly Effect); but on the other hand, there's also proof that the Earth's weather patterns are ever changing. And technically we're still coming out of a little Ice Age.

Threw together a police-themed Shield/Mace Tanker if you still have any spots, Em. Named The Bravery.

Good morning, Virtue.
Any idea what time you'll be running, Em? I'm always down for rerolls. -
/e hears the ruckus and hides behind the sofa, slowly edging his way out of range of the witchy-woman and her witchy-ways. Will hide under the covers of his bed until the threat has passed.
Hello, Rook. Good morning, and good night. Yes, I'm an insomniac. Stayed up working on a TA/Arch Defender. -
So, is that the only issue?

Just coming back to the game after a long hiatus, and I have some questions about my build. The Mids plan that I had back when I started the character has been since lost, so I decided to throw something new together. Granted, I didn't go overly in-depth researching older forum posts here (of which, I am sure there are many), but I did look over a guide or two posted under the guides section, and used my residual knowledge (limited as it may be) in choosing which powers to take.
Overall, I'm pretty set on keeping the power rotation that I have posted. However, I'm open to changes on my defensive/pool powers. Particularly, I wasn't sure when the best time to take the Fighting pool was (early or late), and how to slot it.
It's of note that my primary of mode of play is, and always has been, groups. I don't find CoH to be much fun for a solo player, but great as a group (what other game lets you take on twenty or thirty mobs at a time?). Anyway, all knowledgeable input is welcome. If the build sucks, tell me so. Just be sure to tell me why as well, and how to make it better.
Perhaps also of note, this is one of the first scrappers that I've ever played that I actually found a lot of enjoyment with. In the past couple of years I've also fielded a MA/WP, a DB/Regen, and a Kat/Regen. Claws/SR is by far my favorite.

Edit: The slot order listed in the build isn't entirely indicative of what I was going for. In shuffling slots around, some of them ended up with the wrong level per slot. The slots are just to give a general idea of number of slots and what will be slotted. -
I want to thank everyone for all the responses, but now that I have gotten a bit more mileage out of my Kheld, I can see where the utility comes from. Human form powers are simply late-bloomers behind the lobster and the squid. With that said, I withdraw my question, as I see that giving up human form would negate my ability to self-buff: and who wants that?
-
Looks to be an interesting selection here without a doubt. Thanks everyone who posted, and I welcome any other groups to throw their names out as well if they so desire. Still undecided.

Having looked over a lot of what's on the forums including the last couple of pages of the aging SG thread, I've decided that rather than trying to contact a group that may very well be deceased, I'd put myself out there and let the groups come to me. More than once I've made an attempt to contact a group from the SG thread only to find that it is inactive, disbanded, or whatnot as soon as I talk to the supposed owner or visit their forum. And as I have had no luck rejoining my old groups, I guess it's time to move on.
I have quite a few characters, so it's doubtful that any one group would be so all-encompassing as to be accepting of all of them. So, for now, I'm searching for a SG for three of my characters.
Meteor Hammer [50 Stone/Fire Tanker], a fiery mountain of stone who holds to his good ol' boy roots despite the pressure of Paragon's other heroes. An eye for an eye, and he refuses to wear tights. They're just not manly! He's done a few local commercials and advertisements, so he's not wholly unknown as a hero.
Zarek Umbra [20-ish WS], whose rambling punk ways came to an end the day that he nearly lost his life to a motorcycle accident, and was saved by a nearby kheldian in need of a host. The two don't exactly get along, and Torn Umbra, a former nictus, is constantly at war with Zarek about using their powers for the greater good rather than personal gain.
Genesis Gone [10-ish Claws/SR Scrapper], a homeless teenager given powers when she was kidnapped and subjected to the experiments of an insidious villain. Her rescue came too late, and she's now faced with the choice to follow the path chosen by her kidnapper, or to use her unwanted "gifts" to ensure that no other young people are harmed.
Those are the three that I have the greatest interest in at the moment, and I only have an interest in moderate to heavy roleplay supergroups. If there are any out there that you head, are a part of, or believe would fit the bill, feel free to let me know. Also, I am aware of the upcoming supergroup fair, but I'd like to have a step up on the event - they're usually more fun as a social event than their actual purpose anyway. -

Morning everyone who hopped on while I was making breakfast. /wave

I vote an homage, Tina. Tina the llama.
In other news, one day back and I've already pushed my beloved stone/fire tanker, Meteor Hammer, to 50. Hooray AE.
EDIT: He? Prove it. Er, on second thought, don't. -
Pardon my bird, but feck 'em. I was a usual reader, if never a usual poster.
-
I may have been away for a couple of months, but I could have sworn the rook-ies (?) started earlier than this. Slackin' off on the job, I say. For shame.
-
I wasn't aware the Rookery had Monday's off? Shame on you lot letting a clunky warrior have first post!

Information on Khel's seem scarce, and what there is has dust on it. The only builds that I have found that seem remotely fresh are tri-form builds. Is that the only way to go, or are there other viable options? So far, on my WS, I have developed a love of Dark Nova to the point that I can't imagine ever using the ugly crab or human form again (aside from social pursuits). There's something about the purple blasts.
Are there any decent builds out there that would cater to this preference, or would I be gimping myself? -
What's up with Virtue this morning? It's almost as if you've all came down with the swine flu or somethin', eh?
