Consolidated Threads--Why?

You forgot their unshakable belief that what they have to say is a unique snowflake of pure reason which should get everyone's attention before it gets drowned out by the rabble on page 20.

Good to see the regard you hold for your fellow players in.
[/ QUOTE ]a very good number of people justify that regard.

And that's a shame.
but to answer angry's question directly, consolidated threads are the better of two evils. there will be repitition regardless, but with one thread its less of a spread out of the first 3 pages of main topics, all holding pretty mych synchronized arguments from the posters who feel passionatly on the subject and all generating the same feedback that one thread would have. I think you of all people have a realistic view of how much sway our feedback has, and furthermore, an understanding of how much quality that feedback really is, especially when its an issue that brings out a few posters with strong opinions on the topic.
Hell i have been part of this, when rockjaw shot his mouth off regarding villains i recall at least 4 concurrent threads where i was arguing with the exact same people, on the exact same points. did that help the situation any? no, it just put more noise from a single topic to cloud the main page and i was stupid for being baited then. multiple threads dont contribute any more than single threads, they just make the pet projects of a few vocal posters(again, including myself) appear to be affecting a far largest percentage of the community than it really is.
at least, we had fun.
besides, at this very moment, a dom issue is threated in the city life general forums.
i dont care about doms, you go tell em
I can tell you why.
It's because you touch yourself at night!

Are consolidated threads a wise addition to this forum?
[/ QUOTE ]I'd say absolutely. It lets people who aren't actually going to advance any causes or adjust things at all have a place to sound of emptily for days. Can be very useful as a way to keep the rest of the forums from further being dragged into ridiculous topics when there are a large body of people who don't care about the issue.

doing the same thing over and over and over, hoping to get a different result? insanity.
[/ QUOTE ]
Actually, in many situations that is what practice is.
Not being able to do something and striving to do better so that you can get the desired results.
At the same time, I completely agree with the rest of your post in general.... other than insulting other players. That really is not necessary.
I think consolidated threads are a good thing as well.
I wish there was an easy way for the Moderators just to link a new thread to the existing thread without needing to delete a new thread that comes up about the same issue. Maybe it is already going on and I don't see it when it is happening.

[/ QUOTE ]dude, my main red is a dom, and i have about 5, im quite happy, but that risks oftoping, so we end it there.

Search is a bad joke here.
For example, a simple subject query "Farming -re" produced 200 returns that did not even HAVE "Farming" in the subject!
I prefer they consolidate them.
..just sayin
[/ QUOTE ]
You have to search "+Farming -re" Searching for "XXXX -re" will return anything without "re" in the title using the forum's innate search.
Far as I'm concerned, consolidated threads are good because they keep a single hot issue from infecting all of the boards like a plague to the point where you can't find anything else. When General Discussions looks like "Farming is good!" "Why nerf faming?" "MA Farming" "Why nerf diversity?" "I hate farmers" "Look what you farmers did!" and so on and so forth, going to the boards becomes pointless.
Reading 2000+ replies is hard? Not nearly as hard as reading 20+ threads, specifically when a few new ones pop up every time I reload. I like consolidated threads because they open up the forum to things OTHER than that one issue in the consolidated thread.
Samuel_Tow is the only poster that makes me want to punch him in the head more often when I'm agreeing with him than when I'm disagreeing with him.

[/ QUOTE ] Good question.
We'll have to consolidate this to a new thread.

Aha! See? learn something new everyday!
I still think consolidating threads is a good thing. :-)
They're not consolidating the farming thread to make it easier to use. They're consolidating it to ghettoize the complaints of the Farm Bureau and free up the rest of the forums for the rest of us to use normally.

It's easier for people to feel persecuted (and point it out) with a consolidated thread.

But I showed them, and nobody's laughing at me now!

I like consolidated threads. But then, I also didn't like using yahoo where if you mentioned pictures in your search term, the first couple hundred results were porn (Don't know if they ever really got better, I found Google!) before you found anything resembling your search parameters (unless you were actively searching for porn).
