Most likely just looking at your power list. Not saying viewing your slotting is impossible, but pretty sure it would be a hack used and against the EULA

Thx, I just was wondering if there was an in-game mechanic for it and there's my answer

Well they CAN also see all your bonuses from sets, too. From that it can be inferred if you've got higher rarity or cooler stuff.

Yes I've noticed that when looking at other people's info, but I'm using SO's, so no cool shiny bonuses to my build yet

Mostly build compliments are the results of ascanning the power tab under /info and looking at power picks and set bonuses. Generally the people with sixty line blocks of set bonuses will have pretty good builds.

I've noticed sometimes people say this kind of thing purely based on the powersets chosen.
I've gotten nice build compliments on characters with no travel powers who use only Fitness and Fighting for power pools and have purposely skipped very popular powers. I really wouldn't consider these my best builds since they are built for concept, not power. And yet they get compliments from time to time.

You'd think so. On my blaster's alt build I tried as hard as I could to cram creap IO sets into it (none higher than lvl 30, 'cept the lvl50 end mod common IOs which I two slotted in every atack). Probably running JUST under SO efficiency. The set bonuses are all over the place but seem to concentrate on accuracy, damage, stun/sleep reduction, and Movement. Although if you don't look too closely the block of text is impressive looking.

Now there is a specail power in epic/patron pools and on some AT powersets and also can be found as temp power that will let you view an enemies (not an allies) indepth stats like how much -res they have vs smash.. their hit points etc, basically what you see of self when viewing the power's tab.
So what is your build? Roughly. Or at least what AT/powersets? If it gets compliments, I'm curious.

I suspect some of these comments are from noobs trying to appear knowledgeable.
I recall the episode of MASH where they are coaching Radar on acting cultured. They tell him that, if Bach comes up in a conversation, just say, "Ah, Bach!"

Aslo some people comment on a build with thought to costume and theme, ie a good build for a certain look.
But more likley in this case, they just like the shields :P

Well, a Bots/FF/Mace with the Presence pool is a pretty formidable force.
...Which isn't a bad thing. People keep saying its a good build. However, are they just looking at the powers via info, or are they somehow looking at how I slotted my powers?
I've never found a way to look at anyones power management so I'm just curious.
