I remember a while back I was part of a group that tried to form an Alice in Wonderland/Lewis Carroll villain group. I played a stalked named Cheshire Smile or Cheshire Grin.. something like that. It was hard to find a related name for the character. Sadly, aside from meeting once to join the VG, we never played together. And since stalkers aren't really so much my liking, I wound up deleting her.

Anyone know a good website for identifying spiders? i just found one the size of a half dollar and REALLY wanna know if i should hide under the covers(am terrified of spiders)
Step one, get a rolled up newspaper.
Step two, crush the spider.
Don't matter what kind it is then. Barring that I would just try googling spider species or something. What does it look like? And what part of the country are you from?

the only spiders I know of in the continental US that you really ned to be worried about are Brown Recluse, which don't get that big, & Black Widowsand everyone knows what they look like. brown recluse look somewhat like Wolf spiders if memory serves & are jumpers that live in burrows I believe. (I should probably look them up on wikipedia before I stick my foot in my mouth but hey ;P)
Anything the size you describe is not likely one of the two I mentioned & so is nothing to really worry about. Unless you lay down & let it nom on you. That might get you sick. eventually ;P

I live in Kentucky, and know nothing of spiders that live in NY.
But once a spider fell on my mom's shoulder which was literally as large as the palm of my hand. I have no idea what kind it was, because by the time I got to it, it had been smashed into oblivion.

My husband in Real Life is afraid of spiders. Not unusual for me to go and rescue him when he is confronted with one, although oddly enough, he can handle the ones in the MMOs quite well....but that is still not as bad as our roommate at one time. He was pathologically terrorfied of spiders.
He once went into dry heaves when he walked into a spider web.
Had my hands full there.
