Permission to edit storage bin permissions

Hey everyone! I have a question. One of our ranks is designated to be our base architect. Taxis with that rank should be able to edit the permissions of our storage bins. In our permissions, the rank has the ability to modify the base, but apparently, that doesn't give them the permission to modify the permissions.

Does anyone know what permission does that? Right now, when our base architect create a storage bin, the default permissions doesn't even let the architect put stuff in or take stuff out of them.

Thanks!

One quick question.

Do you guys understand that you can't change storage bin permissions while in base edit mode right?

Firstly, only the SL can set base storage permissions. If your SL and your base editor are two different people, they will need to work together.

Secondly, you can edit storage permissions in base edit mode by clicking the storage item you want to change permissions on, selecting the "Permissions" tab in the info box, and choosing the permissions you want. AFAIK, that's the only way to do it...so your SL will ALSO need base Editing privileges, if only for that purpose.

I just checked this, and it's not correct. I logged in a character that is top-rank in one of my SGs, but not the SL, and I can edit permissions on the storage objects just fine.

A character that is the next rank down is unable to edit storage permissions. So it looks like SL and top-rank SG members both have the ability to edit permissions on storage items.

While I haven't checked to see if it's true, the patch notes says:

"Added individual permissions for each storage container in a supergroup base. These are accessible under the "Permissions" tab in the item window when editing the base."

For all I know, though, it could be wrong .

You change the permissions while NOT in editing mode. I can say thins from personal experience. The patch notes are wrong.

As far as I know, any leader or superleader can change storage permissions, and nobody else can. There is no setting I am aware of to change this.

Oh, you can edit the bin permissions whether you're in base editing mode or not. To do it while in base editing mode, just pick the bin, then in the info window, click on the permissions tab. To do it when not in base editing mode, just open the bin, and there's a button to edit the permissions at the top.

And I can definitely edit the permissions, being a Dispatcher. I was just hoping that our Charters could too, or at the very least that I could set some kind of default permissions, since our architect really needs to be able to move stuff around, and by default, she couldn't add or remove anything from the bin.

That's okay, though, if we can't do it, we'll just figure out some way.

Thanks, everyone!

if the architect of your group has their own rank then you can just have the SL/Leader with permissions set all the storage units to allow give/take permission for the architect's rank.

You might need to widen the item window to see the Permissions tab while in base editing mode.

I had a problem with setting storage permissions while in base edit mode while they were still on test, and I was advised that I could only set them outside of base edit mode. I never tried to set them while in base edit mode after that.

Oh, well with my window scaling I found the tab was off to the right until re-sizing. I thought that maybe the option wasn't visible to you, rather than it not working properly.

No, the problem I was having was that when I tried to set the permissions they would reset to the default whenever I left exited the base editor.

You are right. I was pointing out the obvious.

You will need to set your Charters up to the "Leader" rank (rank 5) if they are planning on creating a new storage bin to use to move stuff around.

My SGs are mainly alts for me and my sister, but we only set one character up as SL (because we had to) and 1-2 characters up at rank 5. But all characters have Base Editing permissions.

So I ran into the annoyance that I was on a character who could edit the base the other day and I created a new bin to sort thru storage and oraganize it better. Because that character was not the rank 5 character or the SL character, once I created the bin, I couldn't use it to sort storage until I logged on a rank 5 character to set the individual permissions for that new bin.

It would be nice if there was some way to allow "set permissions" on the bins to be granted by the SL to lower ranks than rank 5, but I can't figure out a way to do it. I think this is what Belle is asking about/for.

You can.

If it hasn't changed too drastically the Super Leader can grant any rank the ability to set permissions in the SG window under Settings, and then under Set Permissions or something to that effect.

At least that's how it used to be, I don't know if they've changed it or not, I will check when I get home and update.

I speak from experience because a character in my SG that has the 4th rank can set permissions on the bins, so I'm presuming that you can set it to allow anyone.

Doesn't explain how my character who is NOT a leader can edit bin permissions.

It goes like this:

Super Leader
Leader
Commander <---Character I'm referring to.
LT
Minion
Underling

I was referring to setting the permissions of the RANKS to be able to set permissions, not setting the bins. I'm aware the bin permission setting is gone in the SG window.

Claws - I don't know how you are able to do that either. I just logged on to a character with the similar rank (rank 3) and purchased a new Enhancement Table. I then tried to set permissions while in the Base Editor - it would let me set permissions for lower ranks (rank 2 or rank 1) but would not let me set permissions for the same rank (3) or the rank above it (rank 4).

When I exited the Base Editor, with that same character, I couldn't set permissions at all.

So what I would like to see is something where I could set it so that one of the ranks other than 5 or 6 could be alowed to set any permissions (which would allow Belle's Architect/Charters member to freely set up stuff for storage in their base).
