Truly Stealth?

I have a defender with Shadowfall and SS. I hate the Rikti Drones and how they can see through my stealth. If I put one of the +Stealth IO's will that make me invisible to them? What can?

Rikti drones will see you no matter what. Units with +perception have so much perception that even if you're at the stealth cap they still see you. The only way around it is to use a -perception power.

Defense also helps when stealthing past drones. If they hit you your stealth will suppress and all the enemies will attack you. So if necessary use some purple inspirations to raise your defense so they miss when they shoot at you, and you can maintain stealth and keep going.

Also, rush past drones as quickly as possible. This limits the number of attacks they can make, and if you go quick enough they might not even get a shot off.

True and false.
They'll still see you if you're at the Stealth cap, but it's not because they have any extra Perception (they have normal minion Perception. If they had high enough Perception to overcome the Stealth cap they'd see unstealthed targets from very large distances away), it's because they just plain ignore Stealth altogether.

This. You can easily test this with the Analyzer temp powers (grab and make yours at the market). It'll show that the drones have normal perception range (45' I think?).

This.

There are a handful of units that do this, this is also known as the "old style +perception".

I use stealth/teleport to get around Rikti drones.

ethereal shift and phase shift are amazing for this purpose

Teleport is good. So also is Phasing. You can pick up phase powers from Warburg patrol missions (hyper phase, renewable 2 extra times), from a Power Pool (Concealment > Phase Shift), or create a temp phase power from a recipe (Ethereal Shift) that is fairly inexpensive on the Market.

The other thing is to make sure you have enough KB protection so that you can keep on going past them. There are three Special IOs that give you 4 points of KB mag protection (Karma, Steadfast Protection, and Blessing of the Zephyr) and a set that gives 3 points of KB protection (Kinetic Crash).

OK I'm confused...so I logged in my scrapper just to check...as I type this I'm standing in the middle of a bunch of level 50 Rikti in RWZ (including several drones)...my scrapper is using Super Speed and a +Stealth Celerity IO...and after 5 minutes still no aggro...am I just lucky?

Edit: Moved to some 51s and they spotted me.

Are they facing you?

Yep.

Been doing some further testing, apparently those 51s didn't actually spot me, it was the Pylon behind them that did

Level 50 DM/SR Scrapper, with Super Speed and a +Stealth Celerity IO. Apparently completely invisible to Rikti Drones.

Logged in a different scrapper.

Level 50 Claws/Regen Scrapper, with Super Speed, +Stealth Unbounded Leap IO, and Stealth. Get's spotted by Rikti Drones (level 46 or better) when he gets within about 30' of them.

I guess my /SR is just lucky..../shrug

Another related question for people...

In the Concealment pool, what is the performance benefit of Invisibility over that of Stealth? Or put another way, how do they handle in terms of gameplay? It could very well be that you chose Stealth as the prereq to getting Invisibility, but once you did, in what tactical situations would you choose to use one or the other?

Thanks in advance,

Johnny

Here's a good breakdown of the way they work:
Stealth and Perception

Short answer, with Invisibility you cannot attack, with Stealth you can attack.
In PvE the stealth afforded is:
[Concealment Pool Power]
Stealth: 35 ft
Invisibility: 55 ft

Perception of a minion is 45 ft, so it won't see you if you have Invisibility on (perception minus stealth would be -10 feet), but it will see you at (45 - 35)= 10 feet using Stealth.

You can't attack while running Invisiblity, but you can while running Stealth.

Stealth makes you harder to see, so you can get closer to the mobs before they spot you. But they will spot you once you get in close.

Invisibility makes you completely invisible to any mob that doesn't have +perception. Rikti Drones, pretty much any mob with "Sniper" in it's name, and all Knives of Artemis have +perception. There are others, but those are the first that come to mind.

Incorrect. Snipers, Turrets and Giant Monsters can see you through Invisibility even if they don't have any +Perception.

Incorrect. Rikti Drones and Knives of Artemis do not have any +Perception, they ignore Stealth. Snipers tend to be of the Sniper class which has higher *base* Perception than most mob classes, but they don't tend to have any +Perception.
