Character description formatting

It seems that your character description, the little biography that you can write about your character, no longer maintains formating. Specifically, it ignores paragraph returns when you click the finish button, turning it into one big wall of text.

Was this changed intentionally? Or is it a bug? I know for a fact that you used to be able to format this section with paragraphs...

Ahh, glad that it is a known bug.

Well, as far as I know, it's just a known issue. I don't think the devs have ever confirmed whether they consider it a bug or not - it might be working as expected, as a result of something they had to do to get Mission Architect to work properly.

I'm guessing that some new dev was given the task to add a filter to the text editor, meant only for MA, that strips out blank lines. Unfortunately he didn't realize that character bios were also affected by this because he didn't make it MA specific.

Character description UI was always hinky. The cursor would often jump a line up or down if you used backspace.
This new issue has made a few of my toons stories lose its--well--it's 'pacing'
nothing like a single glob-like paragraph story to glaze eyes over.

I ran into another related bug with Mission Architect. Apparently you cannot publish a story that has a return in the mission description. It kicks out an error about HTML formatting. It took me 2 hours to track it down until I looked in this thread and removed the carriage return from the mission description.

bump to hopefully get a dev/redname/wookie to remember to fix this

After avoiding it for a loooong time, tonight I accidentally typed /d while trying to type /e and open the enhancement screen. This mangled my nicely spaced bio on yet another character.

Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease fix this bug!

This is a bug. I am a developer. I assure you, this is a bug. Even if what you say is true. Especially if what you say is true.

Somebody in their dev group is a little too clever by half jamming in HTML and XML and god knows what as internal storage layers in this thing, and probably there's a command-line parser interface rearing its ugly head, too, somewhere.

"Oh, it won't work with CRs. Ok, just disable CRs and call it a feature." The lazy man's way to programming. People who make decisions like that should be let no where near the interface design of a mass-produced product.

Keep in mind the bio page has been busted for at least 3 years and they're in no hurry to fix it. I mean deleting and backspacing and so on screws up. Again, it's an issue of competency I'm thinking.

Actually, it's more an issue of the competency of the persons who wrote the original tools they have to work with and pieces of the game engine. Oh, and the lack of proper documentation along with it doesn't help.

Sometimes when they try to do something that "should" make sense or be fairly straightforward, it gets some wacky side effects that leave them scratching their heads because it is doing something that they can't find an obscurely buried reason for.

If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.
