Being appreciated for my work as a videographer has nothing to do with me as an individual being liked by the player base. And I've honked off more than a few people by being outspoken and a mostly-unabashed dev fangirl.

All that aside, while it'd be nice if there was a way to help foster communication between the Powers That Be and the player base, I'd personally vote for folks who really are more into the nuts and bolts and numbers and community - like Arcanaville, MIDS, Leandro, etc, rather than myself. I just make videos.

I fail to see the point of a group of people who have no actual power in helping people. I think the only thing that would be created out of something like this is... a hot mess!

I like the basis of the idea but don't think it's really feasible. As with most player or user committees, it turns into a popularity contest and rarely does anything worthwhile get looked at or done. And believe me, having lived through this kind of drama repeatedly over the years at various websites, games, etc., I really don't want to bring that here.

EDIT: And a comment on the previous list of names: There is no way in ########### I would ever accept a user committee with P_P and B_I on it.

In my defense I again state I was only trying to objective and suggest a group that represented all types of players regardless of my personal feelings.

I tried to cover all bases. Male, female, old, young, intellectual, idiot, PvPer, PvEer, farmer, PLer, basebuilder, Artist, RPer, powergamer, prodev, antidev, All servers.

Also I didn't expect my list to be taken this seriously. So I offer my sincerest apologies if it was taken the wrong way.

I think this is a terrible idea.

1) There's about three players in this game I'd trust with anything. And that's Arcanaville with numbers, BillZ with ATI cards and myself because I know when I'm being deceptive and when not, most of the time anyhow.

2) Frankly, I can't think of any way to prove or disprove qualification for such a body. Considering that Forbin put on his list the worst forums whiner in the history of CoH and people who in my opinion basically only talk [censored] should be enough evidence of this.

3) Past projects such as the City Scoop and PERC prove that no matter whom you put into such a group and how carefully you direct them to work on matters, it will piss a good number of people off. Just look at the white-hot reception the PERC people got on Virtue (though the actual thread is probably long gone).

To further illustrate the matter... imagine I was part of that judiciary group.

PS.

Also notice how the mere discussion of such a group is already turning into a popularity contest of some sort. Could be an unpopularity contest as well.

Some people might see it that way, but I think the majority of people would be more like me. I don't care if you write for the scoop, if you are a member of perc, or if you have arranged parties and get together for the last 4 years. I just don't care. If you enjooy things like that then good for you. You are helping people and keeping yourself busy. But, none of the people who do any of these things have and kind of athuority to help with any kind of customer service issues. When it comes to customer support use fellow subscribers need to just butt out and let the people deal with the CS reps.

This is honestly just a bad idea. It should perhaps be locked before the popularity whiners show up and start flaming.

Just as a vague question, which of you people would be comfortable having say, me speaking for you?

Right?

Right?

Okay, now consider the difficulty involved.

City of Committees and Sub-Committees ... the bone rattling action is getting to me. Politics in video games are bad ... terribly bad to me this includes SGs with applications and elections and various random groups walking around with their noses in the air.

Not all people are a problem in this, but on Pinn we have a PERC rep that I truly believe his only goal is to make the game more fun I haven't seen him get all high and mighty (He may) I have just seen a good-natured attitude to having fun, I have been on teams with him and he is like every other player I generally team with, likes to have fun. Then I did a TF with someone from a dev recognized group (Not mentioning names) who was holier than thou, annoying and on top of it all about the worst player I have ever played with.

The devs do their best to listen to us whilst keeping in mind the longevity of the game, I don't always agree with them, sometimes I downright hate their decisions but they get an A for effort and introducing another group is just more possibility for drama and bad decisions.

Sorry for the rant ... I am off to arrest people

Regardless of weather you agree with someone or not the fact that you acknowledged that my decision meant that it was important to me was much apreciated Sam.

And its a nice idea and at least a suggestion to make things better based on recent actions but I could see many problems with it. I do think it is a workable idea though.

See, here we go with the sissy stuff again. An oubliette is just a dark moist hole. Not like you'd have to force me in there. Unless it's tiny. Taking away my lighters would be much worse.

No worries. Like I said in the OP, it was just a test balloon on the idea. People made convincing arguments against, and not many people were for it. That's fine with me.
