Look, I was in Law Enforcement for 20 years in the military. I wasn't a detective, but I saw enough crime incidents and read enough crime scene reports and investigations to tell you ANYTHING is possible from ANYONE. If you don't have an alibi, then get a lawyer. In Azr's story would the secretary have done this or that...why would she do this when she would do that...whatever. The human mind is wired very funny and is capable of many irrationale decisions. Like the time the guy walked up to the local Deputy Sheriff..."Hey man, I just tried to buy some crack from that dude over there and he tried to rob me!" Or the time I tried an all Scrapper STF...

Azr, with the limited story you could write in the memory confines of MA, you did great. For all you other Mickey Spillane's out there, write your own to make one better! This was a lot of fun, if someone else writes one would love to run it.

Was so very close.. was certain her motive was jealousy of Obs' and Snowie's long term friendship, and not the money owed. Am still glad to have fingered the right culprit Yay

Thank you for a fun, and entertaining arc.

Wait... does this mean I die next as someone tries to take the prize money?

Haha!

That would be great! Each new arc kills off the person that won the previous contest!

Seriously, we could have different people do it each time. Karl, you wanted an arc idea....

I'd ran the arc twice and took careful notes of all clues, withheld a guess to the murderer's identity as I didn't feel the clues completely eliminated all doubt as to the culprit. I would've guessed the secretary if for nothing else than everyone else seemed to be weeded out but in the end it would have been just that, a guess.

That the supposed smoking gun of clues was that the secretary was working late when the Scoop was finished just wasn't enough to set off alarms to the reader. Won't their be future scoops to work on? Secretaries have no paperwork? Just the simple fact that Snow Globe was there explains the sec's presence. "We're indivisible. If I'm workin' late, you GOTTA work late! If you can't work late, I can't work late! If I can't work late, I CAN'T WORK LATE!"

Means, opportunity, motive. That Globe died from fire and blunt trauma would seem a significant clue, and the lack of info on the secretary possessing any meta abilities left a big gap in the Means department.

An awesome arc that I thoroughly enjoyed, it turned the MA into an Experience. I don't envy Azrhiaz making a run at a murder mystery, I've seen so many highly paid authors try and fail pretty badly as its brutal task to nail.

One can make up lots of reasons why or why not that smoking gun clue didn't work. Arcanaville wondered why either of them would be there if the Scoop was done. You wonder just the opposite. The fact of the matter is: she said she was there working late getting the Scoop ready for publication. The Scoop was shown to be already completed earlier in the day. Yes, maybe another clue somewhere else would've made her guilt a bit less ambiguous. At the time, I didn't want to make it *too obvious or too easy. So in the end, I left a gaping hole in her alibi that no one saw or put together. Is the failure truly mine?

I'm glad you liked the arc and got into it in a way that COH normally doesn't achieve. That *ultimately was the goal, getting the clues and the story to actually suck you in and make you want to read the next clue you found. I had a great time writing it and enjoyed the flashes of inspiration throughout the process.

Again, sorry if the end result was a disappointment. I'll try to do better next time.

That was the somewhat ambiguous part. The proof that editors get for a newspaper is often a proofreading proof to check for errors, not a sample copy of the final run.

I don't consider it really a disappointment on the whole, just a bit disappointed the clues didn't line up completely for me. The fact that I played it twice (to be sure I got all the clues) and thought about it for a day and a half makes it one of the more engaging MA arcs I've ever played. I'd definitely play the next one.

I agree. This was one of the very few arcs that I've run more than once. Not only that, but I even read the mission text too!

The only other arcs I've done that with were my own to remind myself how awesome I am.

Well speaking from experience, the Scoop is never done until the moment it is published. There is often something (it doesn't matter if the community reps object to something or I catch a last minute typo) that prevents it from being "done". I am glad that we give the appearance that there is such a thing as being done a day or two before though.

I didn't put in a guess but I enjoyed the arc overall. It was something different than the usual stuff you find in the MA and had a story worth reading. I can see where the second mission would be a little much for some (mostly due to all the slows), but I had fun running it.
