I love Portland, ME. Boston's a bit too far for a lunch AND/or martinis but I do get up there occasionally but I always head up a few times per summer.
They have a good microbrew scene there, if you're into that kinda thing.

Went to law school and under grad in Boston - WAS going to make a trip there but now it looks impossible. However, when I hit Beantown for a triumphant return, I will let you know...

I, for one, would like to live in Powell's Bookshop. In a secret Victorian-esc apartment hidden within the shop. I would come out at night and roam the shelves and read books.
I will be in New Hampshire for a few weeks (leave on the 31st) again. work loves to send me up there lately, the New England area is beautiful country. be sure to drink alot of Moxie.

Heh, I'm in the Manchester area of NH, myself. It's relatively nice here, but with the immigration of so many Massachusetts people(aka Ma$$holes) moving up here "to get away from it all", the niceness is diminished by the fact that they bring "it all" with them.

I will be in Rochester I believe. the company I work for bought another company up there and i have been on the acqusition team. this will be my 3rd trip. spent the other two trips in Portsmouth.

<--- Ma$$hole born and raised, grew up just outside Boston, although I now live in the more rural peaceful parts way out west. And I totally agree with the lable, it's been rightfully earned for sure, but we aren't the worst in NE.....(glances south at the suburb of NYC they call a state)

I would have to say from my experience (limited as it is), the people in NH are really polite, the food is "wicked awesome" and the weather is nice. i haven't been there in the winter yet, and don't want to be. we don't get much snow in DE anymore.

Damn it - I didn't have internet or else I would have - not only did I fly out of Manchester but I spent like a whole day in NH. I had a car and was willing to drive - I drove all the way to western Massachusetts actually - I found an old Dodge Challenger and rented it from a dude for peanuts a day - it was awesome. My gas bill - not so awesome. But I wish I would have read this and met up with you guys - grrrr - mad at myself for not going online Thursday night. Would have loved to raise a glass you.
