2v2 tourney rules - opinions?

2v2 Tournament Rules

All matches will take place on test

All matches will be 10 minutes long, 1 round - winner advances to next weeks' round.

All matches will be set to Travel Supression off, Diminishing Returns on.

All matches will take place on the agreed upon time and date. A forfeit will be declared 10 minutes after start time if BOTH players of one team fail to show up. There are no substitutions.

Map choice will be random (resets on office, troll caves and monkey cage)

Two resets per teams allowed for Disconnects in the first Two minutes. If a player DC's after that, the match is played out or the remaining player can forfeit.

Vengeance is allowed.

Players sign up in teams of two, listing team name, player globals and registered toon. Each player will be allowed ONE AT per team.

For Example -

Team Phail:
@Jimmay
Dark/Dark Corrutptor
@Jimmay's Mom
Dark/Dark Defender

Builds do not matter - you can bring a different build each match but it must be the AT and primary/secondary registered. If you have 3 EM/Willpower stalkers you can play any of them in any match - but if you registered an em/willpower and play a em/nin you forfeit the match.

Initial tournament match ups will be random, to be determined after sign up and before start date. Winners of subsequent matches will advance to face each other each week until there is one winner.

For Example -

Team 1 ----Team 2 wins
v
Team 2 ----Team 2 v Team 4

Team 3 ----Team 4 wins
v
Team 4

Team 5 ----Team 6 wins
v
Team 6 -----Team 6 v Team 7

Team 7 ----Team 7 wins
v
Team 8

and so on.


All AT's are allowed the only team not allowed are two stalkers.

Tier one inspirs only (only those available in pocket D). Ispir drops during matches are allowed. Teams can request inspiration swaps before matches.

I'm for all except the exclusion of the office map for 2v2s, especially with the buff players time period and the no 2 stalkers rule. Legislating team composition is meh.

Also, maybe allow for two toons to be signed up as to not have people play the statistical counter game (hey guys, there's a lot of ff's signed up, lets roll double kins to counter them (not that anyone would)).

that was the idea of using one toon. Rather than have to deal with facing a team that may have multple account and toons to counter any team.

Rules look good, but I would disagree with the reset on Office and Caves.

With DR turned on, you can't really disrupt someone enough to make either of these maps broken. The only reason the cage is broken is because a team of two can camp in the cage and debuff the entrances. With the office - if someone wants to camp in the upper room, they can get hit with ranged attacks through the windows.

Also, since you can't minus range someone to 0 anymore with taunt or storms, both of those maps could be useful.

If you are going to exclude double stalker teams, you shuld instead make a no repeating AT rule. Double blasters is way better than double stalkers if DR is on.

Silit is right 2 blasters with DR on is very deadly. I'm also a little wary about having to list teams composition, but since it's going to be random selection it might go well. Beside that the rules look fine.

Hmm well the only reason to limit two stalkers was the ability to hide he whole match (i know it works with 5 stalkers ..cough..cough :P)...but I guess if you don't have tactics or perception invis would do the same thing.

well then what do you think no at limits or no duals (meaning no two of the same ats - two stalkers, two blasters, two emps ..etc).

I like that. I think only one reset per team is all that is nessesary though.

also i do think that being able to play with more then 1 toon should be in there to. Everyone likes having options and not being stuck to just one toon to play with.

I think these are great rules. I like the no 2 of the same ATs on a team rule.

Yeah, the reality of i14 pvp is that it makes no sense. We should probably allow each person to reg. two toons.

To play the devil's advocate, having everyone stick to specific toons for the tournament allows the opponents to game against each other. If you know what you're fighting, you can develop tactics to counter their strengths. It makes the matches more strategic. And, because the tournament is only for a specific length of time, you can switch out your toons or even find another teammate for the next round.

Personally, I like forcing people to stick to AT & powerset combos.

I think purely for the sake of keeping things moving quickly it should remain one toon per person. If I have options yea I'm gonna sit there switching in and out.
