Please provide a friends only email filter!

A filter that allows only SG/Friend/Globalfriend only emails would be the simple solution.

I personally would want a check-box that says "receive no emails", annoyance solved, but I don't use the emails system.

(Which reminds me, we’ve added new features to the in-game Email system to either shut it off entirely, or only receive emails from people on your friends list and/or people in your Supergroup. Another step in the battle against annoying in-game spam.)

(These changes are currently being tested in the Closed Beta for Issue 16, and may be changed/modified by the time they reach the Live servers)

One nice thing about spam e-mail (what? there's a good thing?) is that spammers were much more quickly reported and much more quickly dealt with.

Right-click on the character name and hit "Report Spammer". Character is ignored (now globally), and marked as a spammer. The higher ups advised a /petition, but it wasn't required.

EDIT: Part of me is giggling that I sent TonyV a link to his own site

It's left-click the name in the chat and select "Ignore Player_name as Spammer"

Yeah, but so what? They were abusing the email system so it's being addressed. If they take their spam elsewhere, we'll deal with it there.

If almost sounds as if you (and others) are saying that we should be afraid to take steps against the spammers because they'll get more annoying. Screw them!

Yes, the "Ignore {Player} as Spammer" option, the /ignorespammer slash command, and the spam button in your email are all basically the same thing. No worries about your span reports getting muddled together with normal petitions.
