The date I find in searching is April 27, 2004. However, I believe this is just the date when the box was released for pre-orders. Players who pre-ordered were allowed to get into the open beta for the final battle with the Rikti before the Live release which was a couple of weeks later, May 8, 2004, IIRC. The anniversary celebrates the Live release.
hmm so Anniversary is May 8, but it was released on april 28..
As the Anniversary of CoV is Oct 31st, but 'Headstart' release for PreOrders was 27 October.

Commercial release was April 28th - Don't know when the beta for preorders was, but the pre-release started on the 25, IIRC.

Whew, been awhile, so I checked and here's the info. at the Guru. I could have sworn it was 72 hours, but my Main Villain rushed to 10 and Founded my VG on the first day of HeadStart. Sort of a 'Born On' date. 10-29-05. Start date for the general public was 10-31-05. 48 hours.

Ooh, whoops, you're right. I was misremembering which day the 31st fell on (Monday). I knew pre-orders started on Friday and thought the 31st was on Wednesday.

Our VG was formed on the Saturday, then I remember getting a PvP kill in Bloody Bay on the Sunday evening.
My wife and I were ahead of the leveling curve of most of our friends up until about 20 or so. Then they slowed and passed us. Took me about 2.5 years to take that 1st redsider (a stalker) to 50.

Sounds very much like me. I rushed to 20 to get my cape by Monday and then got up to the mid 30s and stalled out for about 1-2 years. Finally did it though.

Hey, anyone know when the first day CoH was released? because the 5 year anniversary says May 8, but i was looking through google and found the date April 28. When was City of Heroes first released? (the date the anniversary is based on) please post the year too, thanks
