Power Suppression

Um, if you had gone through the tutorial you would know that the AE building has a separate area (Stage B or something) that has full Power Suppression on all the time. There is no need to make the entire building do that. Just use that area.

As for Wentworth, it is an open building and it is apparently more difficult to do power suppression in an open area.

Edit: Plus assuming that they could do power suppression in an open area, what happens when someone is just running/jumping past? Do they get suppressed and have to reactivate their powers just because they got too close to the BM or WW?

We know about the Power Suppression room. But you have to leave that room and walk through the lag-fest to get to the contact and mission entrance.

Then make a suggestion to create a Holo Contact and mission beam in the Power Suppression room.

Some people want to role play their characters in the AE building. Some people want to use their travel powers to run or fly around the room while they're waiting for the leader to choose the next mission. I see no reason to stop them from doing so.

After all, we're not using our travel powers to travel if we're doing AE missions. We can at least use them to have fun. Otherwise it's just a lot of standing around waiting.

Well we -could- suggest that... Yes.

However... As an avid RPer, myself, I would have no problem saving other people's graphics cards. Even whilst RPing that all my powers are functioning fully.

Which is why I made the alternate suggestion: Only Affecting Self

I don't understand why it's only that one room that has Power Suppression thought...well...I guess besides QQing RPers that need to fly at all times...

[/ QUOTE ]I think it's because it's actually a separate map, and that they can turn suppression on or off for an entire map easily.

You actually zone into the AE buildings

[/ QUOTE ]No you don't. The interior of the AE buildings is actually within their exterior, in the normal game world. Depending on your graphics settings, you can even see clearly though the windows into the zone around you, and watch other players fly/run/jump past. For a while, Rikti dropships would even fly through the AE buildings in some zones during raids, and due to the kill-field within the building, explode.

I am discouraged that a Developer or GM hasnt posted thier opinion to this subject, or even posted another suggestion. AAMOF, the Lag that I encountered in AE once was so bad that i lost connection to mapserver over 5 times in an hour... I almost wanted to fight PLayNC for a refund and not come back to Paragon city.

It would be easier, i agree, to just ask that all the pulse powers be shut off while in WW/AE/BM and HOPEFULLY the remainder of the COX community would respect that. But obviously, some feel that its not their problem.

Really? I didn't understand that was how it worked. Thanks for educating me F_W. I was assuming that because no one outside the building was affected by the interior Power Suppression room that the interior of the building wasn't in the same "zone".

[/ QUOTE ]If I had to guess (and I do), they force the power suppression in Studio B to stay there by creating an invisible entity pulsing the NoPowers aura, and they flag that entity's power to require line-of-sight. Since everywhere outside Studio B is outside LoS, it doesn't work anywhere else.

If you don't mind, I'll just take your word on that. It's a bit over my head.

Regardless of HOW they do it... its till something the devs need to look at.. it will not cause a lag in GAMEPLAY and will be the best for all players.

GM's or DEVS WHAT FO YOU THINK?? Please give us your opinion on this.

Why should the devs suppress powers in the mission room of AE? If you want to work on your arc, and don't want the powers and sound effects, go to studio B. That's what it is there for. No one is forcing anyone to work on their arc in the holo room.

Also, if you are THAT annoyed with the number of people in there that have their powers on, try another AE building. I hear there are multiples of them, not just the one in Atlas Park or Mercy Isle. The one in RWZ is relatively quiet most days, and I've been spending a lot of time in the one in Brickstown lately and it is real quiet.

Which bring up another point from another poster, yes, there is an AE in a hazard/co-op zone. RWZ is that zone.

As for Wentworths and the Black Market, I can see how the difficulty would be to suppress powers in those areas. But I myself do not notice much lag when it is busy at WWs and people have their toggles on. And I also have to question just how much time do you need to spend in the consignment places that the powers bother you that much? I think the longest I ever spent in WWs was about 20 minutes while buying recipes and salvage for new ehancements.

I think power suppression is, for what they have now, is working fine now as is. If they implement it in the consignment places, next people will complain that they need power suppression under the Atlas statue or in Grandville under Recluse because they can't travel near those places without being lagged out.

xLone... the AE building MAIN room is where you get missions and gather a team... I DO use Studio B if I am working on an Arc.

So Let me Clarify... My Suggestions are as follows.

Suppress AUTO HIT/Toggle Powers in WW... the noise of a perma heal or spines is VERY annoying when you are trying to purchase items on the auction.

Suppress ALL AoE and Toggels in AE building... reduces lag in gameplay. OR if the Devs would eb so kind as to think of a way to allow players to be asked to team and join the same mission, even though they may be in different AE buildings (i.e. one in Atlas, three in Bricks, and 2 in Talos) etc etc.

SCreaming power supperssion for under Atlas' Globe or Recluse in G'ville would be TOOL, being that has NOTHING to do with actual GAME PLAY.. thats CC's and Squatting.
