Oh, I forgot...

Got a call from my roomie this morning to tell me whatever I did created a small lake out back of the house. He suggested I bring a flatbottom canoe home with me.

I am borrowing one from my Pop tonight.

I'm flying to Florida on the 2nd. It'll be the first time I've ever been farther east than Denver.

The abbreviation Xmas for the word Christmas is of Greek origin. Since the word for Christ in the Greek language is Xristos, which starts with the letter "X," they started putting the X in place of Christ and came up with the short form for the word Christmas

I know I wouldn't want to leave from that hot Florida sun.
I've not been farther south than Buffalo. Our summer here is about 4 months. And its not all sunshine.

I take it you are not from there?

Interesting.

I would have figured it was because an 'X' is a crisscross shape.

Xmas = criss(cross) +mas = Christmas

I'm a winter person. I'd much rather be too cold than too hot.

If you're cold you can put on a jacket/wrap up in a blanket/what have you.

If you're hot... there's only so much you can take off.

True, but us semi-northeners only get teased with the sunshine.. sure it can get to +25- +40 (with humidex) for maybe a few weeks in total in the summer, that's why we (crave) bask in it love it and would never dare say,"I wish it were winter" (-20 - -50C with windchill) >.>
'cause we know it's just around the corner. I suppose I am truly lucky to live in an environment where we do get the four seasons and are pretty much risk free from earthquakes (maybe some tremors every 20 years or so), Tornadoes(we do get a few tailends or micro-bursts[mini-tornadoes-but that's only happened a couple of times in my 30 years here], and other elements of mass-destruction...I guess that's why my GrandMother (RIP) used to call eveything from pretty much from North of Toronto up-God's Country. I am blessed. Thanks for bringing it to my attention lol,

While today's forecast calls for a relatively mild 83degrees, we've already gotten to within a few points shy of 100degrees this month.

And to think, it's not even summer yet.
