Needed: List of maps removed w/ 5/5 patch

A list of the maps removed would be nice. Even nicer would have been warning of the maps that they knew were being taken away. And also nice would be a dev reply of whether they're gone for temporary or gone for good.

I'm hoping the Crey Hero Lab was a spawn point issue and not an exploit, because it really fit the story I had written.

Please don't let this drop, I also used that map in one of my arcs, has anyone PM'ed a community rep about this?

The Nerva Primera(?) map is gone as of this morning. Only Nerva mpa left is Fountain.

They should be MUCH more proactive about informing architects when their creations might suddenly become invalidated and incapable of getting played. Two of the three arcs I have up were hit by this one patch, and I didn't know about it until I read this thread.

I'm getting the sinking feeling that this is going to be bug-fixed and updated as often as bases are...

If maps have a problem, even if we don't know about it, then okay, drop the map, fix it, and put it back. Preferably, do that in the same patch, so we won't notice it missing (though it might have a different ID number on it, so we'd still have to Edit an arc to fix it, like how costume parts would get changed, even though the end result is the same).

However, with these missing maps, we don't know if they were removed due to bugs, exploits, or just an "oopsie, clicked the wrong thing, sorry" type of error. I'm sure i15 will probably add some more maps, especially any maps that were in Beta but taken out... but I really hope we don't have to wait for that to go Live til we get back these current crop of dropped maps. <_<;;

The burning forest map was likely removed because of its high density of spawn points. It made for a great battlefield... but likewise, it made a farmers paradise. Buzz from the bees is that they are working on a MA version of the same map but with fewer spawn points and less objectives.

Well that's great. Meanwhile my story is ruined with no advance warning, no way to prepare, and no way of knowing whether I should rewrite the last mission or wait this inanity out.

Yeah, without some more good outdoor maps (specifically a jungle map for me) I'm just teaching myself how to make custom mobs and learning to place items and tasks for now. I doubt I"ll publish until Issue 15 (if I haven't lost interest again.)

I'm doing the "wait this out" and will make another arc for my friends, in the meantime.

The Unique/Crey Clone Lab map is history as of today.

[/ QUOTE ]

Ah man! Now I gotta rework an entire arc to figure out how NOT to include that.

See, now this is why I get so very flustered about farmers. They say their actions don't effect anyone else, but we see entire groups of critters pulled, entire maps pulled, hours upon hour of our work go away because of their actions. How can they continue to claim they don't hurt anyone else? As of this patch due to the maps being pulled, about THIRTY HOURS of work I had in the MA is now GONE. Their actions don't hurt anyone? Really? Maybe if they compensate me for those 30 hours. At time and a half (this was after work hours), that comes out to about $68/hour for me. PM me for where you can send the check.

Did a developer say this? Where's the post they say it in? If it's true, then I may as well just delete that mission arc, which is about Crey creating people.

As far as I know no red-name has commented on the missing maps. They're all too busy trying to spin Posi's statement about punishing egregious exploiters.

I also believe that the burning forest map was not pulled for farming reasons. I believe it was pulled because it could spawn impossible glowy positions. There's no particularly farmable quality to the Crey clone lab map, but I know for a fact it could spawn glowies in walls.

Per impossible and difficult to obtain glowies.

This is a stupid reason to pull a map. My map didn't have any objectives on it. If it did though, and they spawned way in the air or something, people would hate that. They'd give me low ratings and leave me comments to that effect, and the onus would be on me, the creator, to fix it.

Instead we decide we're going to yoink options away from everyone because some interactions aren't as smooth as they could be. That's assinine. Hidden/ bugged objective placement happens all the time (well not all the time, but has occured a number of times over the years to me) in traditional missions, and I dont see them pulling those Contacts down.

So whoever said the Crey Clone Map is history just meant now. When we did the actual run of my arc, the glowy was halfway in a floor, but clickable.

Hopefully, it's just a matter of them fixing the maps/spawns, and then putting the maps back in.

Seeing as how the Crey Hero Lab map seemed to cap at level 32, it didn't strike me as something farmers like? But since I don't farm, I don't know. All I know is the "Holy Cow!" reactions from the players (and characters) I made the arc for, when they opened the doors to the pod room and saw several battles of NPCs happening. Total chaos.

Your work is not gone. It's all still there, on your computer. They didn't remove your entire arc. Just leave it sitting there, waiting for the map to get fixed, and start writing another one.

Loose --> not tight.
Lose --> Did not win, misplace, cannot find, subtract.

Maybe it was removed, or I'm simply not remembering what it was called but where in the heck is that one Circle of Thorns map that has all the blood splattered on the temple walls? Is that still available?

That one you need to Unlock, it's one of the Praetorian maps. Cost about 50 tickets I think..

Identifying and fixing the problem might not be a quick and easy task. The whole thing is still pretty buggy and "in development", by say September I bet everything will be going much more smoothly.

OK so I was looking on the test area's Undocumented changes /fixes thread today and saw this posted by Arcanaville (from 05/07/09):

It would, I think, be useful to start a list of the undocumented changes / fixes from the last patch. Some of these break missions, while others make things work that didn't work before, i.e.:

Breaks:

Crey Hero Lab map has been removed

[/ QUOTE ]

That one's been needing to go for a while. I reported in open beta that the non-standard setup of the last room was leading to glowies spawning inside walls. Heck, it was in Arcanaville's arc, so I even sent her a message since I figured she might be able to get more notice than the standard bug report I'd already submitted.

I'm guessing it'll be back when they can fix that problem.

[/ QUOTE ]

I /bugged it, reported it, reported it, and reported it again. And then it got pulled the patch before last, sigh. However, the good news is that War Witch tells me its on the list of maps to fix so they can be put back. Bad news is I have no idea how long that will take. If there are as many people helping War Witch with maps as there are helping BaB with animations, by the time the map reappears Cloning could be a technology available at Walmart.

I'll check on it periodically, but I can't speed the process by annoying the devs about it.

(emphasis in yellow mine...)

So at least for the Crey Hero Lab, we have "the Word" (or as close to it as we're gonna get) as to what happened.
