A Comment on the Market (and possible suggustion)
Purples are supposed to be ultra rare anyhow. Its not like the casual player is ever going to want or buy a purple.

They have said that purples will not be part of the MA system just like mission no xp/inf end mission bonuses. They are entitled to change their minds, but I would not hold my breath.
The development team and this community deserved better than this from NC Soft. Best wishes on your search.
A ultra expensive merit roll maybe...but 9999 tickets isn't more than a hour of playing.
And yes, purps are supposed to be ultra rare.
My best recommendation to you would be to either pad your badguy count and minimize your team on large maps of 50+ enemies, or run the wall during off hours when there is less competition.

I'm not sure I agree with that. . . I know a few "casual players" who have purples, and still want purples.

I also realize this, that is why I suggested the reward merit version. . now 1K reward merits was (I hope. . .) an exageration for a random roll, but. . .just an idea. I do agree they should be "Ultra rare" but things that you consider "rare" or "ultra rare" in the real world, who usually has it? People who are willing to pay the price for it, so I think that the same should be the case in the game.
If you are willing to pay 200million to get a purple I think you should be able to, that isn't currently the case :/
I do see BOTH of your points, just trying to make one of my own.
Pretty happy with it myself. Its made my purple purchases prior to I14 much more valuable. Its made my regular farming much more profitable
Its made it so much easier to IO out new characters that there is no excuse for anyone not to.

Really, more profitable? I didn't see the price of purples inflate (just the common salvage. . .) I just saw their avaliability drop like a rock :/
And as far as padding stuff out. . .personally I'd rather team and I don't think that should decrease the chance for a purple drop.
I don't care if I'm not the one who gets it, so long as someone gets one. . . if every 10 missions I pad for 8 and run solo I get one, I think every 10 missions that has 8 on a team SOMEONE on the team should get one, I don't care who. . . . .
Again, maybe I'm in the wrong here, but. . . .IDK
I have the purples I need. . .so it really doesn't bother me either way to be completly honest, but *shrugs*
I just want to help, if no one agrees, feel free to say it and have the post removed =]

Yes, the high demand purps have increased in value since i14, just not at the same rate that everything else devalued.
Padding doesn't increase the chance to drop other than provide more enemies for the possibility. You said you run with 4 to 8...when not running the full team, try to find more people to fill just to map the zone so that there are more possibilities for the drop. When loot is determined for each baddie, it determins what loot exactly and then randomly who in the team recieves it. More mobs on the map means more chances the RNG to hit the lotto. If you are running the full team...it is a mute point. Understand better?
As far as your earlier comment regarding 200 million being enough.....that is a matter of personal perception. Enforcing something like would just be putting a pricecap on something. An item is worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it. That is the nature of the market. It really depends on if your patient enough to wait for one to be in your price range or have a want it now mentality.
I recommend checking the market forums for similar topics. There are many discussions on how to aquire things from the market, even purps, if willing to wait it out.

Agreed. . .to make a point I'll put a 1billion infamy on a random purple, I'll post back if I get it by the end of the week :P if I don't *shrugs*

Unless your team is 8 times as fast as the fastest member is solo it decreases potential production.
The people who played the market to get rich now are paying for their greed. I say things are balancing out just nicely. One could almost call it Karma o.@

Actually, those of us who truely play the market are making more money than ever before. It is those who try tried to duplicate without understanding that got caught with their pants down. I spend about an hour a day "working" the market. My daily income from this ranges from 10 to 50 million. It ranges as much from finding the niche I want to use for the day as to what day of the week it is. Never have I sat there saying...wow...there is nothing to make money off of.

No, the people who earned a lot of influence prior to i14 now have a hell of a lot more purchasing power when it comes to non-purple recipes.

There is so much wrong with this I don't know where to begin.
But I will leave you with this, the people that got rich playing the market for greed were smarter than you in I13, nothing in I14 has changed that.
I submit that "casual player" and "purple IO" are not meant to go together.

Define casual player?
Oh this is gonna turn south fast if you are not careful.
The development team and this community deserved better than this from NC Soft. Best wishes on your search.
I say by the time this hits page 3, it'll go back to "Farmers are evil."
Farmers are evil.
I'm a casual player with 12 50s solidly IOed out on both builds.
I'm a casual PvP'er who violently hates losing.
I'm a casual RPer who cannot spell to save my life.
I'm a farmer who thinks farming is the purpose of the game.
I only farm in the appropriate ways, any other way is wrong.
Eisregen is ALWAYS wrong.
If you're reading this and don't agree, you're as wrong as Eisregen is.

O'Rly ?
Ya'Rly.
In my experience, the advantage conferred by rare and ultra-rare IOs only really comes up in high-end PvP, where every percentage point counts. Truly "casual" players aren't going to be competing in that league, any more than I'm going to be driving in the Indy or Daytona 500. IMO, casual players can get by just fine with generic IOs or even SOs, as we did for many years.
The problem (again, IMO) comes when people want to put in a "casual" amount of effort yet want or expect to reap the "serious committment" level of rewards.

No to the bolded part its just wrong. The advantage comes into play on any character that has them it is incredibly noticeable and has a giant impact.
As to the rest your opinion about what others should shouldn't want can and can't enjoy is duly noted.
In my experience, it's true. Noticeable, perhaps, but necessary? I do fine against reasonably-sized PvE spawns with just SOs and regular IOs. My friends who PvP more than I do have told me that's all I really need for most of this game. I don't need an Indy car to go to the supermarket.
Now, if you're the sort of player who's frequently out there on the edge of what you can handle, in PvE or PvP, then yes, you are going to want and need more. But then, as I said, I submit that you are not a "casual" player; you are a "serious" player, and should expect to put in the time and effort required to improve your personal skill and equip yourself properly.

key word, reasonably sized. . .say you are the lead brute (BRUTE NOT TANK!) on something like the ITF or RSF with an 8 man team. . .sadly with plain IOs you will be destroyed, unless of course you have several buffers capping everything you have, or one healer dedicated to only you.
And honestly. . . most of the PvPers I know don't use purples. . . they use other things to get the defense bonus (which only what. . .1 purple set gives?)
*please note EVERYTHING I POST is my opinion, or noted from my personal observations! please don't go shouting about how wrong I am. . . everyone is entitled to their opinion. On that note, please also don't take offense to anything I respond on your posting about =]. (now I know the sarcasm will ensue. . .)
Ok. . .so we have all seen what MA has done to the market!
It is amazing! all those positron's blasts, decimations, Obliterations and the likes have dropped in price to something reasonable!
It is wonderful, right!? Well. . . yes and no this is a double edged sword.
People are no longer playing the stuff the devs have made because of the simple fact that MA is something new! (among other reasons. . .) Unfortunitly while all of the orange recipies have gone down, others have basically become extinct.
I am OF COURSE talking about purples. Now I can't speak for the heroes, because I haven't much looked at their market, but for us villains. . . purples have officially become ULTRA RARE!
Now if that is how it was intended to be, cool. . . but the fact that even if I did choose to spend 200mil+ on the market to try to grab one, I CAN'T! Why? Because everyone is doing MA which (Dev's choice excluded) has NO CHANCE of grabbing purples.
I have personally been running none MA missions with a few friends trying to get purples, and stock the market with ones we don't need, but a group of 4-8 people doesn't have a very good chance to do that. . .so here is my proposal. Make some way for MA to award purple recipies.
I know it sounds insane, trust me I know! I'm not saying make them readily available or anything, or if not MA then the merit vendors! Maybe for the full 9,999 tickets for a RANDOM roll. . .or 1K merits for a RANDOM ROLL.
That will help the market some, because I garauntee you people will do that for the chance that they get one they need, and they probably won't need everyone so that way the market will get some slowly. . . . maybe that would make them to available, I don't know. But if you really want them to be something exlusive to players that had them to MA I can live with that.
I don't think that is what you want though, is it?
