Long term effect.

I just returend to Coh after a four year "break". Coh was my first Mmo and many followed.
Never have i seen an implementation have such a devestating effect on a game's tender balance.
On justice we have whats called Meow missions, these EA missions give tons of xp and tickes.

There is simply no effective reason to play anthing besides Meow. Take myself, i dont mind the so called grind to the end game in any Mmo, its part of the game and give a sense of accomplishment. It also makes sure that you know every ability of your choosen class.
And last, it require's some disipline and mabey even some skill, making sure that people who reach end game have some capability.
My point is, i dont mind the grind, if i know that while im grinding im doing that in a effective manor.
Knowing that Meow is around and doing normal missions is not what i call effective.
Besides that, the meow missions will give me tons of tickets and inf, and even recipies, leaving no benefit for normal missions.

Coh devs, stop AE, just for now, everyday it runs it has a very negative effect on long term playability. People will get bored this way. The market will plumet. And popluation will go down.

Regards Frost.

[/ QUOTE ]Then press the report button. The arc will get pulled if the GMs decide it's breaking the rules (and farm missions in MA is breaking the rules of MA). If the author continues to try uploading their farms, they can be banned from MA or from the entire game for it.

There's no way for the GMs to look through each arc to check if it's a farm. You have to show them where the farms are to get them removed.

Some of us aren't in it for the fast levels or uber drops.

Yes, I farm a bit, I've PLed a couple characters, I've done QKaties back in the day, and I've farmed tickets a few times since i14 hit.

BUT... These are not my normal way of playing. I run standard missions. I run TFs with my coalition. I rum the arcs of my friends and people in my global channels. When I run out of those, I'll start randomly browsing others' missions.

My project character is a blaster that turns off XP at the top of each level bracket until she's finished EVERY mission that any and all contacts will give her.

Some people out there did nothing but PL new characters and farm so that they could go PVP. These people can still do that. Whether it was dev-released content or AE content, they're spending more time in the PVP Zones/Arenas than missions anyways.

My server's badge channel is as active as ever, with TFs, MA teams and GM hunts all getting a lot of activity.

There's LOTS of things to do outside of farming, and I think that most people, when they get bored of AE farms, will move on to the other stuff in the game, rather than leave.

Don't worry, it's only a matter of time until that exploit gets nerfed too..

For you, you mean. There are many and varied reasons people play this game and many manners in which to play. "Effective" is in the eye of the beholder.

Fun. That's the reason. If playing that farm is fun for you, great. If it isn't, do something else. With all due respect, if you've been gone for four years then I don't think you're in a great position to comment on this game's "delicate balance".

Play the game the way you like it and don't worry about what other things people are doing that "you" don't like to do. The number of ways to play this game is as varied as the number of people playing it.

Interesting replies, you guys are right, the problem lies for a large part in how i play Mmo.
As i said, i enjoy lvl as effective as i can, however, i also enjoy a challange, and ill admit am lazy.
This combination of factors makes me, and i guess a few others, vunrable to these kinds of things. Vunrable in way that it makes other things to do feel like "less fun".

Your comment of me being away for four years is 100% valid. Yes i dont know enough from Coh to enjoy al its challenge's beceaus i simply dont know them.

But atm for me, and me being a new player. There is no reason to embrace those challenge's beceaus im not yet end game yet at 43, and there is nothing faster or more rewarding then these meow missions on the moment.

Of the 43 lvls i did the last 21 in meow, and met nice people doing so. But i cant escape the feeling this will have a bad effect on this game.

The word balance i used in general sense, as the balance you see in any Mmo. I dont know much about Coh, but i think i do have a commen sense when it comes to game balance.

Reporting maps is one thing, but i think the problem is bigger and lies more in the Ae mechanics then sertain maps.

Making on map's should revolve around creativity, not around reward, in my opinion. And thats what i hope too find in the future Ae. Just that. A place where creative players can make there own story, and where other players can enjoy that.

Thank you for all your replies.

It already is that and "other" things as well. How it is used is up to the individual playing the 15 quid a month, how novel.

There are PLENTY of creative people banding together creatiing story [tags], joining the MA arc Finder channel, releasing their stories with posters/video ads etc..and they are not hard to find, they are HERE in the forums.

Focus your attention on the players and area of the game that is like what you want from COX and ignore the others that are not. Doing that provides you with the proper experience that "you" are looking for from COX.

Well, CoX isn't like most MMO's. There's no reason to hurry to 50. There's only a few things to do once you get there. There really isn't any "end game". It's not like many, where getting to the top level is where it "starts". CoX isn't about the goal, it's about the journey. But if you want to hurry, that's your call.
