Live Feedback: Issue 14: City of Heroes (Blueside)
[ QUOTE ]
Solve the problem in a few easy steps:
1: Create a character.
2: Use search to find people who are not looking to farm.
3: Team with these people and add them to your friends list.
4: Find an active SG that is not focused on farming, or start one yourself.
5: Play the game the way you want.

Were it so easy...
The number of people who want to do things other than farm has diminished, and I expect will continue to diminish until such time as the dev's take direct action against AE farming.
SGs, on the other hand, are a dime a dozen, and generally worth as much. Its been a long while since I saw an SG with more than three active members, and I've yet to see one that didn't go for farming.
Granted, I'm not everywhere... but your post implies an ease of practice that simply no longer exists.

sorry, that doesnt belong here.
I have been trying to replinish the market with common salvage- common salvage shouldn't be 500k.
I have been putting all my bronze rolls on the market for cheap- those that cant affoard 1mill+ I am doing this for you!
Some farmers use their farming powers for good.
The only thing I am farming for is yummy yummy prestiges!
Ignoring anyone is a mistake. You might miss something viral to your cause.
There is now an official farming disucssion thread posted by Mod8 in the City Life section. I recommend any farming discussion be moved to there.

Not at all. I just can't come up with a solution for you, Doc. Sorry about that. I'd like to get the farmers out of sight, because out of sight equals, well, you know. I can't make everyone happy, so I try to make most people happy.

New Server-wide Architect Chat channel

Be patient grasshopper.

At present I'm not ignoring farmers, the moment they start spamming that channel... I will. I and my friends, and I presume others like us, would like to use that channel for real MA content.
I would encourage others to do so as well. Broadcast is one thing, channels are a totally different animal.
Once these channels open up finding MA teams who are looking for the same play experience you are might become easier.

Edit: I'm in hero and villain SGs on three servers, only one of them (villain on Virtue) has any members that do farming - and that's for badges. None of them recruit. We might get a PvP trash talking farmer if we did... shudder.
I suggest server-specific global channels and building global friends lists as the best way to find likeminded players who enjoy the same playstyle.

Governments have fallen to the power of social media. Gaming companies can too.
That is one of the things I really hope they make more clear. If there is only one channel for AE...what is it for?
It really is as simple as nobody is forcing you to do anything. I've had fun running non farm AE missions since it released. I can see both sides of the fence here but in the end this issue has its intended effects. What is that you ask? That question is probably best answered in renewal and new subscriptions. Meh, to each his own..
Your August Sirs,
What a disaster. Write your own power level farm? Well that changed the game didn't it?

I play all the servers but mostly Virtue and Freedom and Guardian. If you are on during a Rikti attack or a zombie attack you will lots of people complaining about lag.
Live Feedback! Issue 14! Oh boy!
1) Farming was the most fun I had with the MA.
2) You enabled/expected/allowed it.
3) I pay for my accounts every month and have been for 5 years. I have over 40 alts. To insinuate that I don't "truly enjoy playing" because I farmed is ridiculous. I don't see how it was much different than double xp weekend, honestly.
4) You mess with people's characters and there's going to be backlash. Biting the hand that feeds comes to mind.
5) See bullet #2
Put that in your juice box and suck it.
Sincerely,
The Casual Gamer
The Mission Architect is a real frustration for me. To my way of thinking it has just about killed the rest of the game. It is very hard now to find regular mission teams and task forces. It is difficult to make money outside the architect because prices are way down on items because no one is buying since they can get them in architect. I can no0t make enough money anymore to even buy enhancements. It is like the outside AE has regressed back to before the wentworth's system came in. Worse. Many, many of the AE missions are not well balanced for the players abilities and seem to just be some one trying to go power crazy and beat up on other toons, but, until you try a mish you do not know if it is balanced or not so there is a lot of time wasted. I am sick of AE and I am not sure I can see a future in this game to keep my interest for me to reach my 5 year mark.
[b]I couldn't agree more with you halfthief. The real game itself is nearly gone. Most people flock to AE now and there isn't any real community on the maps any longer. That's part of the charm of the game is to see other toons flying around and joining real mission teams and task forces. With no one around, it feels like I'm playing a single player game. Hardly mmo. I and a friend (on another account) have been playing for over 2 years but we're going to cancel in a couple of weeks and go to try out WoW. It's a shame...CoH/CoV is such a great game and the AE is a great idea in concept...but the devs dropped the ball in implementation for the last time for us. 2 more gone. [\b]

I'm very sorry you feel that way. I myself have done hmm.. at least 10 task forces in the last week with my global channel. I suggest you join your server's global channel and try to find TFs there.
I really enjoy the Mission Architect and have spent a lot of time getting a feel for it. What I find annoying is not tied to the MA so much as to the enjoyment of it.
The problem is email spam (I know this is an OLD problem).
While trying out friends MA creations, An email from them which contains a list of their creations, helps me to keep track of which ones have been adjusted and which are new etc..
Unfortunately I have to sort through numerous spams before I have a working list and I believe that some may get bumped by spam when my mail is full. (This is only a guess because I sometimes can not find the email I am looking for)
I enjoy the heck out of the AE system. I feel I can tell goofy little stories. However, I can't even run 2 missions in an arc with any decent ammount of custom characters.
Is it that the size limit is so low because low end machines have trouble with all those different models? I don't really understand why I can't get 2 decent missions strung along without going over my meager 100kb.
I think one of the more troubling issues to me regarding i14 is that the regular zones now seem alot like ghost towns. People simply aren't interested in the old-fashioned radio missions anymore. Why do radio missions when one can level up at a much faster rate using the AE? That being said, there's so much incentive to just do AE runs in Atlas that it's hard to pass. Its a pity that many new players are introduced to just doing AE missions and not explore 5 years worth of quality content out there.
I do miss the days when I can go to nearly every zone that has radio missions and have no problems getting into a team. But considering that joining an AE boss team has better exp returns instead is something I just can't avoid these days. It doesn't help that it has become harder to find radio mission teams.
The game environment has changed very drastically as compared to before i14 in my view. I'm not sure if I entirely like the change.
Now, I'm not going to go all DOOOOOM on i14. The ticket system has made it much easier (and affordable) to get rare invention salvage for my IO sets through farming runs. 1mil of Inf is something I don't get at a very fast rate, and that's about the current market rate for rare salvage, so I'm happy. In fact, I never had much interest in IO sets before and i14 helped made them more accessable to me.
I'm still able to join up TFs though regularly when looking at global channels where TF teams are organized. TFs are one of the most fun aspects of the game and they are incentive for me to keep playing.
Noone is forcing you to eat the cake, the steak, the eggs, or the flarn. Just because you don't like it, doesn't make it wrong. I don't like Rap music, doesn't mean I think it should be shoved off the airwaves so more people listen to Rock.
And yes, lots of people do salvage rolls. If you haven't been to the market boards, that is the new flipping. Just because most don't, or only eye the gold rolls, doesn't mean people aren't supplying the other pieces too. As a matter of fact...why don't you run A mission, and roll it all as common salvage, and tell me how hard that was to get all the salvage you needed for whatever you wanted to make.
