Allow a solo player to spawn larger mob sizes.

I'm neutral to farming. Entirely.

We JUST got something that makes potential farmers able to do what they do in the convenience of Mission Architect, and so forth. Can't you just be happy with the advancements in place? At least for an issue or two?

[/ QUOTE ]

It's not the reason I made this suggestion.

The reason was to get rid of thread after thread complaining about farm and filler spam.

The MA already takes care of auto-sking so no real reason for bridges anymore.

If the folks using AE could generate their own spawn sizes it would kill the need to farm that. I would even suggest the devs make it a bannable offense as you'd no longer need to do that.

Also if you notice in my suggestion I suggested that they be scaled to BOSSES as the mobs go up in level of difficulty past 5. At Rating 8, ALL of the 8-man sized spawn is BOSSES. If a user can handle that solo, good luck to them.

So yeah. You're looking at an economic crash leading to the eventual death of the game through a logical process of perceived need through the implementation of your idea.

Hillariously overdramatic!

If any of Rachelthulu's cons were actually legitimate gripes, then MA would have NEVER BEEN INTRODUCED into this game!

The point Aura and several other forumites have made is to simply reduce the 'annoying' interaction other players may have with farmers, such as being asked to bridge/fill/pad etc.

[/ QUOTE ]

The opposition to this makes me think the whole "its the spam" that I'm annoyed at comment most folks keep claiming is the real issue, is BS.

[/ QUOTE ]

I think it is too in a lot of cases. People get pissy if their rp mission is being outranked by a "farm" mission. Farm missions getting frequent plays and ratings push the other stuff down through the pages.

Then there is the jealously factor that basically states: if I can't have it then no one can.

There is incredible sense of entitlement on both sides of the fence, but imo it is much stronger on the side that is against farming because ultimately farmers do put in a lot of hrs to get what they get. The anti-farm group either expects equal rewards with no work, or they want to remove the rewards for hard work.

qft. Even more idiotic is the idea that you need IOs to play the game. That's inherent assumption that be shown to be false by just about everyone in the market forum. That and that farmers make prices go up.

Which is [censored]-backwards assumption which the devs have denounced repeatedly.

IOs ARE OTPIONAL.

All of your points are made off of a false assumption that the Devs are against farming, and your wrong, they are against exploiting, and all of the things you have pointed out about the changes the Devs made are to stop exploits, not farming, but farming exploits.

Stop thinking that farming = exploit because your wrong.
Think about this, if the Devs were truly against farming, then they would have put a hard stop to it by now. Ok?

Get over it

[/ QUOTE ]

The devs recently gave that buff to Infernal's Demons/Behemoths, and changed the Family's salvage drops to Tech. Both of those seem like movements AGAINST farming.

[/ QUOTE ]

Your wrong, both of them were bug fixes.

If they wanted a movement against farming they would have made a change to the mission, and be done with it.

Those were moves against farming actually.

Very weak ineffectual ones, but still still movements.

And then they introduced MA, which is a farmers paradise.

If what you are arguing is that actions speak louder than words they are screaming that farming is OK right now.

The dev's aren't stupid they know a large portion of the player base farms stuff. All of their actions are to prevent exploits from being farmed, tbh they seem to actively encourage normal farming.

If you take a hack n slash game (which CoX pretty much is) and add highly desirable rewards for grinding/farming what do you expect to happen? Please tell me you don't believe the dev's are so naive they actually expect the majority of their player base to be rp motivated?

Of course not. Hell, I've almost got my own Architect C badge from all of the maps I've run.

But the point is that the Mission Architect is NOT just a simple farm mission. The mission was a single waypoint of farming, and people used it as an exploit.

And correct me if I'm wrong, but there has been talk of peoples' farming missions being REMOVED by the moderators.

Again, completely neutral here, but it seems like the case is more for the Developers being more against farming than trying to support it. Please tell me you don't believe the dev's are so naive they actually expect the majority of their player base to be completely-farming-motivated?

I know of no one who had a farming mission removed. unless they,

A. Found an exploit and abused it.

B. advertised an exploit.

those rikti farms were exploits. they were removed. there are countless farms set up Identical to existing dev created missions for example the Improved demon farm. made so villains could have praetorian demons to farm if they wanted to. They all have story lines, they are no more of an advantage than the original dev created missions just more accessible to heroes and villains.

there are player created farms for mission architect badges. all kinds of farms. if yo hear abut a farm arc being taken down that means they fouind something giving more rewards than it is supposed to and an exploit.

So far I've only seen and heard of maps that had exploits being pulled and while the majority were farm maps I know of some "story arcs" that had those exploits in place that were invalidated. And I have no issue with exploits being canned, most people don't after the initial shock. I'm not talking about one specific mission, I'm talking about the game as a whole.

Of course I don't think the entire population is farm driven. I'm sure there are plenty of people that play the game for the story. But the devs have made it so mob defeat is the only thing that progresses the game and tied it to a powerful loot system. To deliberately rp your way through the game is actually contrary to how they have designed it even if they claim that is the intended way.

intent meets design and design will always win as it is the path of least resistance.

This was a bad idea the first time it was posted.

This was a bad idea the last time it was posted.

This is still a bad idea.

It will continue to be a bad idea.

Farming throws off the market. It exploits a very small amount of content with low risk/high reward ratio. It annoys people who don't farm or dislike the idea of it when they get tells asking to farm or pad or bridge.

Farming is not suggested by the Devs. Farming is not a well liked practice and, for that reason, the Devs have consistently altered the way things are handled to -avoid- farming.

Asking the Devs to put something in the game solely for the purpose of farming when they have time and again shown that they don't condone the act is a waste of time. I'll be bookmarking this response to copy-paste to all further farming threads.

nothing in that thread contradicts what i said. what were his cows and whatever else he was calling the enemies he was farming. most likely they were rikti cows. and was abusing an exploit. that thread also are arguing that farming = exploit. the devs have never said farming is an exploit. farming is repeating content for the sole purpose of rewards. must i break out castles link again?>

1. Rikti Cows? Subject: Moo!
2. The thread DOES contradict your opinion, because there are several testimonials from players of not only their arcs being disabled for farming purposes, but observing arcs made by others during then. That is directly related to an anti-farming position by those with the authority to disable them (i.e. devs, mods, etc)
3. Wasn't Castle fired over something?

Edit: Nevermind, Castle wasn't fired. Can't remember where I'd heard that.

it was lighthouse fired.......errrr left the company after a post he had to retract....eeeerrrrrr volunteered to retract not castle.

Also why were those missions removed. no one know especially the ones written down and noticed to not be there anymore.

if those missions had exploitable items/enemies on them they deserved to be taken down.

My point of rikti cows was meant to be about the riktis that were bugged giving double rewards in mission architect. those were exploits being taken advantage of. I mean come on a level 50 yellow conning rikti giving more xp than a level 54 lt? if they were taken down they deserved to be taken down.
