Account transfers?
Some other rules/guidelines.
Say for instance an Account Transfer costs $20.00
Example: Account A currently has 12 slots on Victory server, all are filled with up with characters.
You transfer 1 character from Account B to Account A, you select Victory server. The price then will include an extra $5.00 since you are not only transfering but also opening a new slot.
So an account transfer costs $20.00 but they add an additional $5.00 fee if you do not currently have an open slot on the server you selected OR you have the option of selecting a current character you want to delete in order to make room.
Also if you think about it, NCsoft will be making more money overall. Some people may permanently deactivate their Alt accounts once transfering but others may just want to swap a character or two.
At the same time if someone has 3 characters they transfer before deactivating their Alt account thats more money they would have recieved from that Customer than if they never implemented an Account Transfer system.

No, we will never see this idea happen. It can be abused far too easily.
1. This opens the door for people to sell characters. A large portion of our playerbase uses time cards and there's no way to confirm that those accounts are being paid for by the same person.
2. Vet badges are awarded based on account activity. Allowing account transfers would mean characters with many vet rewards could be transferred to accounts that didn't earn the rewards, and vice versa.
3. Booster packs and new game editions are applied to individual accounts. Account transfers would allow people to get access to special items from one account onto accounts they didn't buy the codes for.

First of all, why would it be a problem if someone is willing to spend $20.00 for a transfer just to receive Vet rewards, costumes and badges that they already paid for?
And lastly people already Sell Accounts, Buy Accounts Sell Gold, Buy Gold, Buy PL's and NCSoft is doing what they can to stop them.
I'll also say that I bet someone said basically the same exact thing as you when Server Transfers were suggested.
Also who's to say they don't add the ability to link accounts if they ever implement Account Transfers so you just add both account info, enter the password, billing info and ta-da your now Linked and have the ability to Transfer characters.

I'm just telling you the reasons we were told why this wouldn't happen when this was suggested before.
Personally I wouldn't mind merging the characters on all my accounts. But until and unless the devs can resolve the reasons they gave us for not allowing this, we won't see it happen.
Good grief man, click the edit button. It's right there next to the reply button, its not rocket science.
And no its not a good idea.
Edit: See, its easy.
Edit2: I can do this all day and not make completely useless posts.
Edit3: Ofcourse doing it this way doesn't boost your post count any.

And here's the other reason it'll never happen. A lot of people bought second and third accounts to open up slots on their main server. Now that we can have more slots, the devs would *lose* a constant revenue stream by letting people consolidate accounts.
Yes, I know the argument is coming that you/someone you know/people in general can't afford a second account right now. Well, economies and finances are funny things. They go up and they go down. Sure, now someone might have to tighten the belt and lose the second account. But later, when things aren't so dire, they might open it back up again. If they've transferred everything off the old account and closed it down, you've now removed really any incentive to reopen that account. $20 today, vs several months at $14.99 - no brainer really.

Positron's i13 letter: We are trying to make PvP more accessible to new players, while giving experienced PvP'ers the advantage that comes with formulating tactics around the new systems we're putting in place. PvP from now on will be on our priority list. If something isn't working out, we'll be in there tweaking it and making it work, for the entire future of the product, not just Issue 13.
I wouldn't mind account transfers. I canned my 2nd account but would love to have some of the toons from it on my primary account. I have quite a few toons on it ranging from 30-50 but I just couldn't justify paying the extra money when I only play them occasionally because of my altitis. The biggest thing I do miss from having the 2nd account is being able to trade stuff between all of my toons without having to rely on someone else or trying to make room in the bins in the sg base just so I can transfer a few IO's.
Also what is this Pwnz you speak of?
Elec/Cold Troller AV/Pylon/GM/TF/SF Soloing Antics
everytime...he gets me everytime.... DAMN U BOOMIE -- _Ilr_
Take the Magic: The Gathering 'What Color Are You?' Quiz.
I wouldn't mind account transfers, but I also completely understand if they are never implemented.
Main Hero: Flame Blade (Scrapper lvl 50; Katana/Regeneration)
Main Villain: Elenor Seahawk (Mastermind lvl 44; Necromancy/Poison)
My Arcs: #337278: Learning Curve
Fight my Brute: SMASH
I wouldn't mind account transfers if there weren't ANY hackers on the interwebs.
What happens if you get your account stolen and someone figures out your master password, then starts yoinking characters off your account because THEY don't have a level 50 blaster on Triumph?

[/ QUOTE ] Well the victim could have picked a better password or protected their computer better. People that get their info stolen usually made a mistake to make their computer vulnerable. They shouldn't be dumb.
The internet is full of dumb people and trusting people. While I was stil playing Diablo 2 my account got 'hacked'. I found out later that my older brother logged on while I was asleep and moved all of my equipment and Stones of Jordan to a friend's mule character.
Doesn't have to be about having a good password or being 'dumb'.

I didn't say it had to be, I said usually. And I'm right. Fear is a bad reason not to do something. It's how people that are weak act.

Call it fear if you like, but others call it prudence. I don't let my child play with matches and lighters. Most wouldn't call me overly fearful, it's simply prudent not to.

[/ QUOTE ] Well you definitely perverted what I was trying to say, good job on that. There is a difference between common sense and what I'm talking about.
For example, refusing to use the internet because your personal info might be stolen is ignorance. If you pay attention to what you are doing the chances of that happening are extremely small. Letting your kid play with matches would be so stupid that you would probably go to jail if anything bad happened. I'm sure you can understand the difference.

But just so long as you're careful about it you should be okay. You can watch your kid playing with matches to keep him from setting fire to the neighbor's cat.
Prudence. =-3
This just isn't a good idea because of the lack of guaranteed security in it. No.

[/ QUOTE ] No, letting a child play with matches is flat out stupid, supervised or not. There is no reason for it, ever. People that let their children play with matches should not have kids. Keep in mind I'm not talking about teaching a kid how to go camping and start a fire like one would learn in Boy Scouts, there is a difference.
[ QUOTE ]

[/ QUOTE ] No such thing. It is impossible.
That's not entirely true, Munki... There are forms of guaranteed security. Not TOTAL security. But Guaranteed. There's a difference there.
Guaranteed security means that if something goes wrong and it's not your fault directly, someone else foots the bill on the problem. Insurance is a form of guaranteed security.
The Devs could never guarantee the security of such a transfer (which would be ripe for abuse). So they'll probably never do it.
Then factor in the possible future revenue lost as accounts are consolidated... Yeah. It's just not likely to happen.

[/ QUOTE ] Point taken. I was misunderstanding you. With that, I change my mind. You were right, this time
Is there any chance this will be implemented ever?
I bought a 2nd account back when server slots were limited. Back before CoV, server transfers and buyable server slots ect.
I know a lot of people ingame who did the same as me. But now with the ability to buy slots, purchase server transfers, name changes and such I no longer feel the need to keep my Alt account active.
I haven't had my 2nd account active in over a year but that doesn't mean I don't want to play those characters. I'm not a big fan of spending real life money for costumes but I'd be more than welcomed to spend money in order to transfer my 50's, 40's, 30's from my alt account to my main.
Personally this is 1 of the best features I can possibly think of that isn't already available in CoX.
EDIT: WoW allows account transfers, which is why I believe this suggestion is a very reasonable one. Use similar rules and guidelines to server transfers. For example not being able to transfer again before a certain time has passed ect.
