Are you kidding?
The Architect is still doing that thing where if you dare try to use it for too long it sucks up all your memory and you're left staring at a still image. I could barely get out of the editor, I couldn't even quit out of the game. I could barely even end it in the Task Manager! Nothing like that ever happened to me until Open Beta started. Near as I can figure, this is largely due to the fact that the Mission Architect isn't a separate screen like everything else in the game, but rather a resizeable window that hovers over the screen.
Maybe I'll just edit my arcs by hand in Notepad...
"You don't lose levels. You don't have equipment to wear out, repair, or lose, or that anyone can steal from you. About the only thing lighter than debt they could do is have an NPC walk by, point and laugh before you can go to the hospital or base." -Memphis_Bill
We will honor the past, and fight to the last, it will be a good way to die...
Cool! Now where do I go to complain because I can't do X with the Mission Architect tool?
The Titantic Tiberian Fiend
On open beta and now Live I get the whole system lock up thing. Everytime I'm in the MA, if I click on anything it will randomly and without warning, lock up my entire system. I've complained about this for a while now with no real answers solutions from the GM's.
Just tonight at 9:24pm central 04/09/2009, I was in mission architect editing my groups powers and such. All I did was click on a minion in the left window in group editor and my entire system locked up. I couldn't ctrl/alt/delete out nothing worked. Had to hard shutdown my system.
Now I can't even enjoy issue 14 in all it's splendor or I have a total system lock up failure. Booooo....! >.<
I can't feel my legs..!
Has anybody else noticed that since the patch all the supergroup banners for the supergroup base seem to be broken? Instead of the normal patterns, they all just show up as gray with the group symbol on it.
Yeah, that got noticed during test.

This thing is really good. now i can make my adventures i was thinking making manga about. where the EX. soldier in the field whom have fought for the longbows become found badly wounded by the arhacnos and dont remeber who he is. i was thinking it will be a story arch in about 8 mishes
Whose genius idea was it to put an AE building in Cap on Red Side? Let alone put it in Aeon plaza. God the freaking farmers and PLers have all moved in because they only gotta move 10 feet out of the building to get to Black Market, Arbiter, Fateweaver or to sell. Can we get rid of that AE building and send the scum of the game back to Grandville where they belong?

I also noticed that ever since I14 went live, merely logging in, my RAM usage will if I simply stand still, slowly climb, or if I move around, it'll shoot through the roof, and never come down, and if I use the mission architect, heaven forbid I load any custom characters, or put in more than a couple boss fights or rescues, because it seems to want to take up all my system processing and memory resources, per item I add to a mission...
Basically Mission Architect seems very unoptimized for middle end PCs: (Current specs are 2.33 Gigahertz processor, single core in an asus board that supports multi core, but I don't have the cash for more, 512 meg GEForce 7xxx series video card, and 3 gigs of RAM) it's an amazing tool, and I've been having tremendous fun with it, but most of my missions have to be watered down a lot because I have to save them, purposely end-task my city of heroes client, go back in, do a few more changes, save and crash myself again to get my RAM back...
Any way to optimize all of this, like defaulting the 'character preview' window to no animation, or stick figure, or off, and let it be turned on? It seems that even with all of the bosses or other such things minimized on opening, the thing nearly wants to crash my system.
2 things I would "love" to see coming for the MA....
1.) The ability to specifically say "this boss/mob/glowie goes here" (or at least have in the map layout have a diagram with it split into sections or whatever you want to call it so that you can see "oh, section A is generally where I want this boss" and then in the drop down box for the boss select "section A").
and
2.) The ability to specify how many mobs come in an ambush. As sg-mates and myself have noticed, if you have an ambush set to x event and that ambush only has an AV/EB in the group....oops, you get up to 3 AVs coming at ya

There wasn't a Discussion thread, so I made my own. =P
Now, when you say "innovation"...
City of Heroes isn't the first game to try something like this. It's the most successful MMO to do it, and has chosen an excellent implementation. But user-created content for multiplayer online games has had other go 'rounds... Ryzom, for instance, which while never as successful, was the first MMO I'm aware of to pull it off. And of course plenty of other games have permitted users to create their own maps and scripts over the years -- ranging from Furcadia (which, while having no game rules of its own, comes out pretty far ahead in terms of its scripting system and the extensive degree to which it allows players to re-create any game element, including tiles and avatars) to Neverwinter Nights (both versions of which have had Persistent-type online servers) to straight up FPSes to, heck, TinyMUD. Now of course I'm kind of going down and away on a list in terms of relevance to CoX's MA project, what with starting out with another MMO and enduing up on MU*s... but this is a long tradition. And it saddens me to see so little of that acknowledged, both within the game and in the press surrounding it.
Is the subforum Issue 14: Architect: Feedback (Open) closed now? It's disappeared from the main index.
Yes, it was closed, like we were warned about a week ago by ex. Relevant threads have been moved elsewhere I think.

Hmm...I didn't get the memo, you'd think they would have made it read only before transferring stuff.
Nah, not enough chance to break the forums that way
