New Add-On Pack

I would really like to see the game revitalized with a new-add on pack. Something large like the CoV add on, available at stores. Don't get me wrong, I love the mini-add-ons that come out quiet frequently, however a new add-on pack would grab a lot of new players and bring back a bunch of old players. It would grab new players, because when they are shopping for games, they would see the 'New' CoH and pick it up to play it and it would definitely bring back old players.

Here are some things I would love to see...

1) A large, new 'None-Load-Time' zone that has spawn ranging from level 1 to level 50 depending on where you are.
2) A new 'Hamidon' like raid. I would love to see another giant monster (about the size of the hamidon) style raid that requires a huge number of people to take down. Maybe a giant moving-level monster, in which people actually get on the monster and kill it while the monster moves across the level. (I know, probably a lag monster, but if the Devs really sit down and think this through, I don't doubt they could do it, especially with all the great stuff they've already done)
3) 1 or 2 new pool powers. Maybe take some ideas from the forums about new travel powers.
4) And of course 1 new global power set for each subclass. 1 new Mastermind primary, 1 Blast set for Corruptors, Blasters and Defenders, 1 new Defense set for Tanks, Brutes and Scrappers, 1 new Attack set for Scrappers, Tanks, Brutes, 1 Control set for Dominators and Controllers and 1 Defense set for Defenders, Controllers, Controllers and Masterminds.

Which is about 6 new 'Very Polished and lots of eye candy' power sets. (I would definitely like to see some eye candy sets, the last couple have been really low eye candy (Willpower, Sonics, Shields, Dual Blades). I would like to see some Fireblast, Electric attack for Brutes and Ice control sets that really look nice and really 'pop', visually.

[/ QUOTE ]City of Heroes will be getting "shelf presence" (which is what you're really asking for here, not necessarily new content) within a few weeks, with City of Heroes: architect Edition. The DVD will contain all of the issues up to and including I14, as well as a month of play and a code you can redeem for either Super Booster 1 (Cyborg) or Super Booster 2 (Magic).

Why is the physically impossible? They already have that in other MMOs and many other games. Basically the programmers load the section of the map you are in, behind the scenes, so that you can walk from one end of the map to another without having a load screen. As good as our Devs are for CoHs, I doubt it would take them that much more effort.

Just because the Atlas Park Blimp and cars haven't been programmed to allow you to 'ride' them, doesn't mean there's not possible way to program something like that. Again, there are games that already do that same thing and if other game programmers can do it, so can our Devs.

This game uses its own engine. Adding these features would most likely be akin to writing the engine for CoH2.

[/ QUOTE ]There is still load time. What you're asking for is a seamless world. And that, also, wouldn't work too well in CoX. In the other MMOs with seamless worlds you move very slowly. The fastest you move in WoW is pretty similar to how fast you run with Sprint+Swift on.

None of the other MMOs can really compare to the travel speed when we're using our travel powers... especially a 3 slotted Teleport + Boost Range.

[/ QUOTE ]It's POSSIBLE, that doesn't mean it's PRACTICAL. I'd rather not see the Devs spend 9 months re-writing the engine from the ground up only so it can support a single GM encounter... there's far better uses of their time.

I think it be hilarious if they messed around with collision detection allowing us to car surf and use KB + traffic to end a fight.

As far as the "Living Level" GM idea goes, it would work if with a bit of clever masking.

1) It doesn't have to move. The GM could easily be rooted in one place.

2) Not every part has to be "alive". Only limbs and the like. It's central mass could be stone-stiff, just as long as a few parts are moving it still looks good.

Out of my [censored] I will pull this idea:

Some unnamed volcano releases a wonky magma beastie. Several tendrils of magma are flailing about from the mouth of the volcano, cracks in the sides, etc. Probably a head too. You can land on the volcano, sure, but don't try and land in it because it's frickin' lava (Oh shush with your "I'm a /Fire though!"). You can also enter caves surrounding it, run a short mission, and smack down whatever magma beasties have for vital organs. Complete X number of these, and the beast is vulnerable to outside attack.

Just an example. I would love a GM like this, but then again I'm addicted to Shadow of the Colossus :P

The mysterious Djinn...Emerald Dervish (50+1 DB/DA Magic Stalker)

2) While the different style of GM is interesting, wouldn't it be difficult to get enough people together for a raid if you not only had to have the requisite level characters, but also have purchased the extra pack?
1-4) CoH/CoV has a business model built on the premise that updates are free, unlike other games, and this quantity of stuff is enough to make perhaps 3 issues out of. (At least when you figure some story would be in there as well.) Being locked out of that big of a chunk of the game for not buying the extra pack would not go over well, and look like a cheesy money-grab.

What, you're going to take away, then give back Fire Melee and Electric Melee from our Brutes?

I meant powers that are as visually nice as the electric attack for brutes.

The idea of a zone event consisting of a volcano erupting and spitting out igneous is very cool but unless you made a special zone for it I don't know how you could pull it on in game. It would be hillarious if they could.

You can't please everyone, so lets concentrate on me.

I find Dual Blades to be very visually nice.

Willpower was designed to be a very low graphics-wise powerset because that's what people wanted for their natural characters. And I find shield charge to be very visually pleasing .
