people can cry ripoff of lemuria all they want, coralax predate the existance of co by quite some time.

Umm, no. Champions ONLINE, yes. Champions has been around since 1981, much longer than the COH universe. (Hell, even Positron was a Champions character before he was a COH character.)
I'm in the Champions Online closed beta and the Lemuria zone is...interesting... I'm not quite sure I'd want to see an equivalent in COH though. Still, if it leads to greater possibilities of the lore and storyline... Well, as a writer, I'd look for any excuse to deepen a story. So, chucking Atlantis out of the equation, I'll /sign this one.
[/ QUOTE ]I did specify co, didnt i? I played champions in the late 80's, the pnp game.
Uh, we dont need Atlantis, and Lemuria is just another sunken or lost continent. Now, what do we already have in the game that directly points to the third of the famous 'sunken' continents of mythology? Hmmm, what could it be? Oh, I dont know; maybe...
We got CO beat in already using a sunken continent as backstory. Really surprised that no one has said the name in this thread already. Truly. Meh.

Honestly, when I read that and though about making an underwater zone that was not an ancient sunken city, I thought of an underwater base. You know, kind of like in The Abyss, Leviathan, Deep Star Six (to dredge up the past a bit ) or even more recently Bioshock. Personally, I'm not interested in going INTO the water, but a zone in a base UNDER the water would be cool, especially if it had a lot of large windows looking into the sea and maybe small sections of deep(ish) water ala that little pool in Grandville.
I am not, however, interested in the land of underwater lemurs. Or Atlantis. Or the Coralax, even.

One of the "upcoming" MMOs appears to have solved the 'non-Atlantis' underwater zone problem. *shrugs*

Yeah, and it currently looks like a fish aquarium. A huge one, to be sure, but an aquarium none the less. The only thing missing from the plastic plants is a deep sea diver standing next to a treasure chest that opens to let out bubbles.
Yeah, I'd like to see an underwater zone here. But I'd like to see one that at least tries not to look like something you'd see in a pet store.
Goodbye, I guess.

Im not down with atlantis, we already are kind of dealing with atlantis with the cot and mu, but for a general water zone, then i'm with you on this. we have been sitting on the coralax storyline for about 8 issues now, Id be all for lots of underwater stuff, gimmie a water themed at, water powersets, a water zone, a glass of water..yeah all signed. people can cry ripoff of lemuria all they want, coralax predate the existance of co by quite some time. jsut lets have it be a segregated access zone, not co op, a hero instance and a vill instance, with properly flavored missions.

I dont think it would be a rip off of Lumiera, i just say why do it at all? The physics alone in the underwater zones i have played in are terrible and basicly totally would probably make me want to avoid the zone.
Putting a pure underwater zone in this game would IMO be as stupid as adding some time travel zone that makes you fight roman soldiers......
Oh wait....
But i say space, moon, whatever you want to call it, i want to take the fight to the rikti in some way or another.

They're not from space. They're from an alternate universe earth. "Taking the fight to them" would in no way involve space battles or a space zone.

[/ QUOTE ]Exactly. Just like a moon base, most, if not all, of an underwater zone would be inside a controlled, "shirt sleeve" environment. That way they wouldn't have to deal with the effects of water on powers except in limited areas, if at all.
Underwater cities other than Atlantis:
The one in "Captain Nemo and the Underwater City".
Pacifica, from "City Under the Sea".
The already mentioned Star Wars one.
Those are off the top of my head. Now excuse me while I go get a bandage.
lets not forget ry'leh and the underwater city by innsmouth. probably the closest conventional fiction similarities to the coralax and merluna, though she seems less malevolent than cthulu

Um, I'm in that boat too actually, I have a level 80 Hunter and the long list of obscenities as well, and I still stand by what I said.
