Where oh where has Noire been?
You can do it too Willow!!
i quit 3/4 years ago...got really sick and hadto top cause i just couldnt inhale. so i figured that was the time..havent smoked since
good news though.only time i really chuming for a smoke is after i eat a big meal. thats hard no matter how long you quit for.
hardest for me to break was first thing in the morning with coffee... that was my breakfast smoke and coffee.... that was a pain in the but... the one after a big meal wasn't much of a big one for me because back when I smoked i was 120lbs and i could eat anything and as much as I wanted and not gain a pound, when I was to full I couldn't even smoke, til after things settled down and I had dessert then a few hrs after that i was able to pick up a smoke but those where the days of running around my friends farm and 4 wheeling and working on mopeds and cars and jumping ditches with the 4 wheeler
Good to hear an update Noire!
I'm gonna have questions for you about the weight-loss thing soon. Right now I'm still wrestling with the quitting smoking thing.
I had started to do what you're doing on a smaller scale. I tried to flip my intakes of carbs and proteins. I was still eating carbs, but had cut them way down. I boosted my protein by eating only eggs, meat and cheese. As I said, I'll have questions for you later.

if you can find a Chiriascuro restaurant in your area (Brazilian BBQ), you might be able to treat yourself (not sure on spices and whatnot) while this is going on- most of what's on the menu is meat. Lots and lots of it
Delicious, though.
[/ QUOTE ]
Wow!! We have one of those places about 45 minutes south of us. I went there one night with family. I was in pure protein heaven. Meat, Meat, more Meat, and All Meat!!
(then the check came... very very expensive evening)
Seriously though, It's worth it to treat yourself to this if you have one nearby.

But the BIGGEST problem you will encounter is fiber (yes, poopy stuff). If I may recommend, take a LOT of insoluble fiber (I dont like mixing it in water, it sticks to my teeth). I used psyllium seed husks. Side effects include regularity AND reduced cholesterol. Take it constantly.
I avoid juice (no fiber, mostly sugar. MUCH better to eat the actual fruit itself). Your hubbie might be better of just eating the oranges.
If you want to increase your range of foods, look at the glycemic index, its a better way to see what foods are good for you, as compared to raw carb count (20 carbs of pure sugar will mess you up, 20 carbs of strawberries or brocolli wont even dent you)
I LOVE milk, but I have some trouble digesting it. HOOD makes a dairy drink (cream based), so its near zero carbs.
I just finished physical therapy (torn meniscus), and two previous injuries (hasnt been a good prior year), so I gained all mine back.
Drink LOTS of water. There is a 'potential' problem of kidney stones, if not enough water (my doctor warned me, never got it).

As someone who's been partly down this road and about to go back down again, thanks for this advice. (explains a few of my mistakes in the trial run.)

They say smoking is bad for you. I submit people quitting smoking is bad for everyone else and for the security of all others should continue smoking.
[/ QUOTE ]
There are several (nearly 50 people) that agreed that my quitting was bad for their health and security. Meh, they got over it with a little help

Oh.. Did I mention I quit smoking five years ago? After 15 years of smoking I just quit. Yes like that. You can do it La. If Shadow_Ravenwolf could you can.

Wow! Pretty confident in that Shadow guy. Maybe some of his resolve and good luck will rub off on me.

I'm pretty confident when I say we have an awesome support group here for each other. We have all decided to take on our vices and demons at some point. I know we can all beat what it is we are fighting.

Hi Noire!!!! Glad to know you´re ok!
About Brazillian Barbecue... We know how to do it! ^_^
Our Churrascarias work here on a "Per Person" formula... You pay a flat amount (something going from U$ 15-30) per person on the table, drinks not included. You can eat all you want. Children are counted as a full person (not babies), as there is pratically unlimited time for you to be there and eat...
They also have a buffet of salads and pasta and even sushi for those that dont want to go all on meat...
Its a carnivore paradise...

Here in the SLC area we have the Braza Grill. It is excellent, a little pricey but well worth it. They give two choice, per entree pricing or the ever popular "One Price covers as much as you can possibly eat".
We have Espetus in SF.

Its not to bad, though i need to stay away from sauces so ill be eating alot of meat just seasoned
A Fogo de Chao moved into town into Scottsdale a few months ago here. It's a cool pace to go to, not cheap but great food. Second time I went there, Leandro Barbosa was there. I almost wore a Suns shirt that day too. Instead I grabbed any piece of paper I cold from the restaurant for him to sign lol. Really nice guy in person.

I like chicken, too, but I definitely needs some spices or sauces
on them. I even have my own recipes. Like my own Oven Baked
Fried Chicken Breasts. Add some country white gravy and mash
potatoes, and I'm smacking my lips on that.

That is good stuff with Brats yum!!
mash potatoes - can't have
I love mashed taters I usually make them and toss some cheese in or bake a potato and scoop out the middle mash it with milk and cheese little bit of butter with some onion and stuff it back in and bake for another 15-20mins in the oven
I want one now
Im trying to stay away from fried foods I perfer to bake everything or steam/boil or even roast.
Even the burgers I made after comicon for La and BB where baked.
Only thing ill eat deep fried ... well when I could was spring rolls and crab ragoon (sp?)
Though I just found a mash tater sub recipe that my doctor emailed me.... boil up califlower then mash it add some heavy cream and butter and whip it.... yeah I know sounds gross but ill have to give this a try to see if it helps my mashed potatoes craving
Sounds good, actually.
Well, I mean, if you have to eat something other than sauerkraut...

OMG, the misses loves the crab rangoon with a freakin' passion. If there was an all you can eat crab rangoon place, she would close it down within an hour of the grand opening. =)
Keep up the good work on the diet, Noire. Unfortunately, for me...I have a herniated disk in my back and my ambitious diet goals for 2009 hit the wall with a vengeance. I had lost about 35lbs, but I am back down to a net loss of 15-18lbs. I have been going to the chiropractor, and am making slow progress but I am not risking anything. Gonna try to get in the pool (if I don't empty it immediately after entering) and try to do resistance free exercise in the meanwhile. My in-laws have a pool (not heated), but since I am in Miami it's not so bad, but it is a bit nipply at times in the early evening (which is the only time I can get down there).
Well, kudos again on your effort and continued success.

Don't worry Armeros keep ur chin up!
It still gives me a double take every time someone mentions that restaurant.

You know.. I think Huggy should go on a sympathy diet instead of dreanching burgers in ketchup.
And La.. It's all in your head after 72 hours if you don't go with the patches and gums and just quit. You won't let your mind beat you will you?

As far as hubby and a sympathy diet for hubby he already said he would eat the same as me if it would be easier but I don't wanna force him too
Before I started this diet we went grocary shopping and potatoes where on sale for $2 a 10lb bag so we got 2 because they last quite awhile and sometimes ill cut em up into cubes cook em and freeze em for homemade hashbrowns. So.... hubbys got quite a bit of eating to do
not all at once though
