Come up with a VALID reason as to WHY you should be allowed to mail emails to yourself by following these rules:

Stooping to stacking the deck? How droll.

[ QUOTE ]
(1) Refrain from using OTHER MMOs as a source of reference.

(2) The reason(s) MUST be in paragraph form. None of the following will be allowed:
(a) Because it would be cool.
(b) Because we need it.
(c) Because I'm bored.
(Invalid reasons)

(3)Spell check and sentence structure is important. (Remember you're trying to convince the majority of players WHY this feature is needed. Please, sound out the word(s) before you type them.)

(4) Your statements MUST be based on FACT and NOT the rantings of a 5 year old that just wants and wants and wants.

(5) Your reason(s) must FIX the issues rather than create new ones

[/ QUOTE ]
There exists several ways to transfer inf and items without a mail system. However they come with added baggage. There is the extra account, but that costs $15 a month. This favors those with more real life money over those with a single account, creating a two-tier system. You could try to trade with a friend, but that comes with a time cost. There is a method with even greater risk by trying to use the market to transfer the item/inf. Finally, there is using group storage items to transfer, but comes with either the risk of theft from another person in the group or the diminished presence of larger groups as people leave to start solo groups.

Seeing that it already exists and is already happening, adding a mail transfer system should have minimal negative effect on the market. Items transferred wouldn't be heading to the market anyways, so there is nothing lost for them. In the case of groups there would likely be some small benefit as people wouldn't have to worry about making "personal storage groups" to facilitate transfer of items. At any rate it would eliminate the advantage of those who can afford to pay for two or more accounts.

I wasn't the author. I gave credit to the creator. I simply think it's funny, and can be used for many different suggestions. That's why I saved it.

I still think I succeeded in following the "guidelines".

(1) Refrain from using OTHER MMOs as a source of reference.

[/ QUOTE ] Actually using other successful MMOs as a source of reference is perfectly fine. I don't believe it should be somebody's core argument, because each game is different. But looking at the competition(especially the more successful ones) and what they do is a good idea.

[/ QUOTE ]

Personally I agree with your logic, but a lot of times, (Not only with this suggestion) there are people who try to use "but other games do it" as justification for their point of view.

I think what AP wants is more thought expressed than just because.

The same requirement can be applied to the counter argument "The RMTers". Using them as a counter argument is fine, but at least explain why it's being used as a negative.

If they explain they way they think RMTers can abuse an idea, we can try to figure out countermeasers to minimize the problem they pose. Or someone can point out something they may have overlooked.

Yeah I know wishful thinking.

Sorry. didn't mean to imply you weren't.

What I find funny about the one word response ban is that they don't consider one word agreement as unconstructive.

/signed isn't contributing anything to a suggestion either. Gotta love hypocrisy. But then again, it is their forum so they do get to make the rules.

Actually, I once got a PM from Mod08 when all I said was /signed. He just asked me to add a little more to it and then quoted part of the forum rules.

edit: He said this to me:

Munki,

Just a quick reminder, using /signed in a post is a direct violation of Message Board Rules and Guidelines. It's one people miss a lot so no big deal, but I thought I'd let you know.

[ QUOTE ]
# Bumping posts in order to keep them near the top of the list is also prohibited. Likewise, the use of "/signed" posts are discouraged in that it doesn’t engender constructive discussion.

[/ QUOTE ]

In the future just toss in a couple of sentences of explanation of why you agree with the OP. Here is my example.

Thanks,
-Mod08-

To be honest, I was surprised to get that PM, but at least he's fair.

REALLY?

Well then I'd like to apologise to Mod08 for the unintentionlal slander I just made.

Good work Sir!

I understand why you said that, that's why I was surprised. I wouldn't be surprised if he was the first mod to that(but I have no way of knowing that).

When they first made that change to the rules I PMed Lighthouse or someone to argue that saying "No" or /unsigned was a valid response (I put a little more effort into the argument than that though ) and the reply I got was that it was okay. I was left a little confused

I think they are okay with "honest" no-votes but want to catch people that were just trolling the suggestions forum. *shrug*
