Being a primary Villain player, I hear alot of the same questions over and over again. Here is a list of most of them. I would also like to thank everyone that helped compile this list.

Where do I turn in Halloween Salvage for the extra Costume Slot?

Granny Beldam can be found on a small island in Nerva. (2692.5, 11, 6050.5). A base teleporter drop you off on her island. This island is also the location of many Warrior and Tsoo Paper missions for lvl 25-30

Where are Tailors? How do I get a cape? auras?
There 2 buildings for Tailors. One in Cap Au Diable the other in St Martial.
In Cap Au Diable:
Facemaker(lvl20 costume Slot) Located in back hallway on left side of shop.
Gorgeous Glenda (lvl 30 Slot Costume Slot) Located in the Back room on the right side of the shop.
In St Martial:
Lovely Linda (lvl 40 Costume Slot)

Capes and Auras:
These missions are given by your first contact, ie Kalinda or Burke. Due to the recent Contact updates, they will appear in your active contacts list when you have a mission available. Also If you are lvl 20 and you have not complete the arcs from the contact, you will need to finish the arc.

What Task Forces and Trials are available for villains?

The villain equivelent of task forces are called 'strike forces,' and the following are available:

-The Beast Beneath the Mountian, levels 15-20, given from Viril Tarikoss in Cap Au Diable (Loc -2800, 238, -528)
-Pirates of the Sky, levels 20-25, given by Silver Mantis through the mission computer in villain group bases. The base must have the computer and allow teammates into the base to start the strike force.
-The Temple of the Waters, levels 25-30, given from Operative Renualt in Sharkhead Isle, (Loc (-160.7, 64.0, -1056.9)
-The Crystal of Serafina, levels 35-40, given by Ice Mistral in St. Martial (Loc (-1756.5, -160, 2210)
- Lord Recluse's Strike Force, levels 45-50, given by Lord Recluse in Grandville. The leader of the group must have defeated Lord Recluse at the end of a patron arc in order to start this strike force.(Usurper badge)

There are three trials available for villains, all variations on The Tree of Thorns Respecification Trial, which take place in Nerva:

-Thorn Tree Trial for levels 24-33, main enemy group Longbow, ambushes in last mission, given by Sparcetriel (Loc -1260.5, 11, 6405.5)
-Thorn Tree Trial for levels 34-43, main ememy group Devoring Earth, no ambushes, given by Trepsarciel, (Loc 855, 86, 2476)
-Thorn Tree Trial for levels 44-50, main ememy group Malta, no ambushes, given by Ractespriel, (Loc 3940, 18, 7076)

There are currently to Co-OP TF/SF you can do with Other Villains and/or Heroes:

lvl 35+ Imperious Task Force in Cimerora(this TF is scaleable to the highest level player on the team. You can be a lackey(sidekick) oe Exemplared(Malfactored) to join this TF. Also you have have complete the 30+ Arc give by Ashley McKnight in Cap Au Diable to access Cimerora.)
lvl 45+ Lady Gray Task Froce in the Rikti War Zone

Where are the RWZ/Cimerora entrances?
RWZ = Cap Au Diable, St Martial, Grandville
Cimerora = Cap Au Diable(The only University for Villains)

Why Are Mayhem missions so hard?
Because you are doing them like you are a hero. You go directly to the Bank. In Mayhem missions, there are many Longbow ambushes. By going directly to the bank you trigger all of them and they follow you tot he bank. Also on many of the maps if you fly/jump to high you will trigger the infamous "Longbow Eagle Death Squads". On Villainous setting I was able to get about 10 Longbow Eagles to chase me into the bank. Brutes may love this, but many suishes don't.

The Key to Mayhem missions is to destroy stuff and fight your way to the bank doing the side missions as you go to build up your time.

Nice write-up!

How about doing one for villain players who on that rare occasion go go blueside?

Posted

Really nice and comprehensive, just don't go looking for any Black Markets in Port Oakes. Their isn't One.

And the VG's can be formed By visiting the VG man inside the foyer of a building in the middle of Post Oakes, the one with all the Arachnos flags on it, sorry can't remember the co-ords off the top of my head.

My Apologies....there has been a BM added in Port Oakes when the abandoned lads were added

There is a Black Market in Port Oaks, it's between the Arena and Ferry.

Where are those abandoned labs in PO and St. Martial?

Awesome info for us Blueside types!!!
Well done!

Another easy way to find that big building in Port Oakes is to target the Quartermaster in the center of the map. He is at the top of a building and is either reached by getting in an elevator in that room where you pay SG rent, or in the building across from it. (I'm fairly sure it's the same building, but not 100% sure without actually going into the game)

I also look for the big reflecting pool which is located between the two tall buildings that are the landmark for this area.

Yep, but i did edit it before your post after checking

Port Oakes was always a half hour job anyway, just 3 papers and a mayhem then off to Cap au. Now its an arc to do quickly for the few merits after the 3 papers and a mayhem....then off to Cap au

To start the TF eveyone has to be in Zone. Also if you are not lvl 35 it will not let you tp there.

I know you have to be in the zone to start the TF, but the TF is not the only source of missions in the zone, Just have the leader start any local mission and then drop it after you arrive. Solo, I'll often use a mission from one of the local contacts to get to Cim if I have their phone number. Heroside I do the same thing with the Shadow Shard.

I'll have to test on the minimum level, I thought I got a lowbie hero in there.

Should also add "Thus Spoke The Reichsman" in the SF list (or Barracuda Strike Force as it's commonly called)

Given by Barracuda in Grandville (2559, -392, 1934.5)
lvl 45-50

and hello from Afghanistan

Good point VT,

Also:

Quote:
-Pirates of the Sky, levels 20-25, given by Silver Mantis through the mission computer in villain group bases. The base must have the computer and allow teammates into the base to start the strike force.
Was updated and Mantis is out near the AE building in Sharkhead so you don't need the mission computer anymore.

I'd also like to add a few major points for CoH/CoV crossovers.

Brutes are not tankers so dont try to play them that way. If anything there more like scrappers with a better taunt.

If you want to tank, try a mastermind with taunt pool powers.

Corruptors are not defenders either, they have the same powersets yes, but they are more offensive based than there hero counterpart and generally play more like a blaster/defender cross.

Dominators are pretty much villain side blasters in terms of death ratio to other players so dont be discouraged if you find yourself splatting a fair bit, thats fairly normal.

Generally the game seems a fair bit harder from a villains point of view as well. For instance the respec SFs are WAY harder than heroes side. So its nice for a challenge

Oh and yes, Soldiers of Arachnos are much better than kheldians

Good points on all the ATs. This is especially true at lower levels where the difference between powers available from the primary and secondary is very big. Eventually it balances out, but for quite a while defenders have way more buff/debuff powers and corruptors more blasts.

Thanks for adding some more information in here. This was written quite awhile ago. but seems like it should still be able to helo some people get around.

I'd also like to add there are AE buildings in every normal villain zone except Grandville. (Monster Island and Abyss are not normal zones.)

The can be built into tanks later on. They have the same max resist, but need assistance like Fighting pool and buffs to reach some of the levels.

Please read the Master Mind boards before saying you will tank.

Dominators can be very fun and effective. Especially the closer you get to Perma-Dom. Most doms Assualt sets excel in Melee Dam. When I realized that my Ice Dom became a blast. Play them like a Blapper with Control Powers. (Psi and Fire are less blapper like and more blaster)

This I have to totally disagree with. I have run all three "treespecs" in the time it takes the heroes to do one. This is not always done with great toons.
The hardest of the treespecs is the lvl 24+ one. As there are 3 bosses to find, then ambushes at the Tree.
There is probably a guide on how to do these effectivly and effeciently.

Really, there is a bigger issue involved. COV is not built around the need for a tank. All Villains have the tools and the expectation of being able to handle their own aggro. The role of "tank" is not needed in the rogue isles. this gets into the same camp as healing being the absolute worst/least effective way to keep your teammates alive compared to buffing or debuffing. Attempting to play villains as if they are heroes is not the most efficient or successful way to do it.

I'm going to back sunstormer on this. The treespecs are among the hardest things out there.

I have been on over 18 attempts and have 1 success. You are correct in that they are fast, however the tree itself will slaughter whole parties, many pugs do not have the skill or patience to clear teh vines, and they respawn very quickly. It is quite common for squishies to step a little bit too far around a rock and get killed by the tree. Then a second goes over to try and rez the first and also gets killed. Do this a few times and people start to leave. One or two down and you can't kill the vines fast enough and the tree is invulnerable while even 1 vine is up.

By contrast, the hero respecs are easy, but slow. Outside of the LRSF the treespec is the hardest thing unique to redside. (Lady Grey, Hami, reichsman, etc are all available both sides, though Reichsman is different among the two sides).

For those who might be looking for a building like Wentworths, the Black Market sells out of the back of a eighteen wheel truck. Of course, it will be marked on your Map, so it's easy enough to find.

That may not be important enough to mention in a guide, but I thought I'd just say it anyway.
