Man, I need to head to lunch now

Hope you guys and gals have a good time up in Seattle this week!

I would have loved to come, but sadly I have to get up at 6am for school Saturday. Given the 4+ hour drive, I just can't make it.

I hope everyone has a great time.

A quick correction to the Appetizer list:

Hot Appetizers:

Lump Crab Cakes
Shrimp & Chicken Pot stickers
Southwest Egg Rolls

Due to the number of Vegetarian, Pescetarian, non-beef, etc. dietary requests from the folks signing up the lump crab cakes replaced the chicken wings on the appetizer list.

The Lump Crab Cakes are pan-fried with Asian Slaw and Cajun Remoulade.

I'm sure that the pizza is very good there. But, despite paying the entry fee, we're still probably going to be eating before arriving.

For one thing, it'll make it a whole lot easier to take pictures of people attempting to eat pizza and socialize at the same time.

Edited to add: Is there going to be a problem if I bring cookies? If I start tomorrow, I can have a few dozen (say.. around 56 or so...) by Friday.

Yes, that's 56 dozen cookies. I rarely make less than 24 dozen at a shot.

Fun stuff. Nice to meet you all, and the folks from the other games (mostly Guild Wars and Tabula Rasa; I think I ran into one other current Lineage 2 player).

Good beer (really good beer, actually), good food, and gamers. Kind of an odd combo, but eh, whatever works.

Fun semi-factoid - My first graphical MMO convention, an Everquest fanfair held here in Seattle (well Sea-Tac), there was about a 1 to 99 ratio of females to males. This get together, much much closer to 50/50 than I would have imagined.

ps - any grammar or spelling errors I entirely blame on beer.

It was a fun time. I saw a couple of familiar names but mostly it was a bunch of new names and totally new faces. *heh*

I took my 17-year-old daughter, who thoroughly enjoyed herself. She also found some boys to ogle which would no doubt have caused her boyfriend some consternation.

The red-name folk were very forthcoming and easy to mingle with. Nobody dropped any new hints about I-13 (darn those sealed lips!) but Joe Morrisey (Hero 1) is giving a talk at Pax tomorrow that should include details about the mission editor. Pax attendees, we expect a full report!

In addition to Ex Libris, Babs, Hero 1 and some other folks that i didn't get the chance to talk to, we got to chat with Mrs. Hero 1, who was very engaging and perfectly at home with a bunch of gamers. *heh*

The highlight of the evening was a marriage proposal! I'm terrible with names, so I'm going to leave the reporting on that for one of the other two-dozen people who were snapping photos of it, but it was pretty sweet. Christy, my daughter, was practically in tears at the romance of the whole thing. Ha ha! *edit*After going through my pictures, I have shots of nametags! The lucky couple was Nomme and Gorbified! Congratulations! We're all invited to the wedding, aren't we?

All in all, it was a great evening! I want to thank Gargoyle_KDR for organizing the event. He did a fantastic job. Thanks also to the NCSoftees who took the time to hang out with us gaming geeks and really mingling and being part of the party. You guys are great!

To everyone I met (NuclearToast, @Wor, Knightengale, Viv Victus(?) and everyone whose name I've already forgotten due to my perenially sucky memory, thanks for an enjoyable time! It's not often you get to hang out with people and just shoot the breeze about your favorite games.

Special thanks to Beetle_King, for passing his tickets on to us when he couldn't use them. We put them to good use! If you read this, Beetle, check your PM's!

Well, I suck in general when it comes to socializing, but at least I brought a camera >_>

Proposal!

Yeah, I was that really tall guy with the camcorder >_>

Oh, and COOKIES!

Well, that's all I really have. I did a walk through at one point, but I was really shaky with the camera, so I'll just not post that one for now >_>

*laugh* We're hoping to get wedding plans hashed out soon...may or may not be in the Seattle area, not decided yet - however, that said - we do hope to have an ingame wedding. Also, if you have pics of the proposal and my pre-proposal "why am I sitting in this chair in the middle of the room???" freakout please consider emailing me copies at snowlion at gmail dot com . Pretty please?

*happy dances* I'm still ogling the ring happily and doing the whole "ZOMG I cannot believe it!"

So yes, Nomme (@Nomme and @Nomme Again) and Gorbified (@Gorbified and Kid Engineer) from Protector server are engaged *bounce bounce bounce* Yay for gamer geeks in love!

Thank you to everyone who wished us well and to those who wanted to but didn't

It was great seeing such a huge turnout for the M&G, I had no idea so many of us Seattlites played! (And I know some travelled from out of town for it too - my sweetie included - glad y'all could make it out here as well!)

One more "y'all are awesome" to the NCSoft folks who were there, Gargoyle_KDR as the organizer of this shindig, and Cende the baker/bringer of cookies (and her lovely assistant....errr...handsome husband Talek for helping lug the cookies in from the car).

The M&G was fantastic! What else can you say about it when 105 players, developers, and community support folks come together like that? Throw in a marriage proposal (congrats Nomme and Gorbified), tasty home cooked cookies (thanks again Cende ), and some swag (many thanks to Ex Libris and Amy from Tabula Rasa for those) and it sums up a recipe for a fun.

It was really great to see and chat with people that were at last year's M&G, and to have the chance to meet so many new fellow gamers. Healing Kit, who had 2 badges printed in her name, made me laugh when she turned to her male companion and said, "you get to be me for tonight." Another chuckle came when Hero 1's wife wittily changed her badge to read "Mrs. Hero 1." It's the little things like that that make these types of events special.

My thanks goes out to everyone who had the opportunity to participate this year. You are the ones that made the M&G such a success.
