MMO ART?
DJ, you're on the "Way super awesome but no way in hell I can ever afford you!" list!
As for Juggertha... nothin' but love for you, man.
Most of the folks I named off I've commissioned, OR they're a very specific style, namely, pinup art. You guys are in categories all your own.

Aw, Juggy's one of my favorites.
DJ, I'm saving up some cash for you. Yes, indeed.
I've been checking out the art section for a long time now and Juggy is at the top of my list!
Once my wedding is over and things finally calm down I may try to comission either Radmind or Keltoro or both. I'd be really curious to see what Juggy could do with those toons!

Just giving you a hard time. =)
However, I'm a HUGE fan on pin-up art (Vargas and Elvgren ftw) and I've done some pin-ups with 3D. I've actually been working on a full Playboy spread of my main, Light-Speed, for her 'coming of age' party. I'll post it once I feel it's ready. I just need to get Invincibelle to call me... (snicker)...
As far as commissions go, I *do* accept one or two per month, but I won't take more than one at a time so I can be sure to deliver in a timely fashion.

Yeah thats a possibility guys but really at this time i can't afford to have another artist go into it. Those pieces are pretty rough and would take someone alot of time to tune up. That time should be compensated and i am just plain broke! Otherwise you'd still see the steady stream of art going into my gallery like before.
It's true though. I know at least the 'Nectar of the Gods' piece could be finished up by someone. Also i should point out that the 'Priceless' piece was a piece that Rowr, Kat,Alty and myself all went in on together.
Thanks though guys and your right. Given the time and resources, those pieces could be salvaged, at least 2 of em could anyways.

Yes and Gill said he was going to split it into 4 individual pics instead or something. And I got a sketch out of that too.

Aaah thats right. Well i didn't even get a sketch from it so there ya have it
Oh and i definitely recommend Doug or Juggy to both work with and for their quality! Top notch both of em. Foo rocks to work with as well! Oh and Wassy was a joy to work with. Just to name a few. Keep an eye out for more commissionable artists being added to the list soon(tm)
Damn right, I do!
See, if you people hustled a little more for me, I wouldn't have to be such a disgustingly shameless self-promoter!
Thanks Khep! I'm sure the little guy will appreciate the clothes!
Soul Train and TA, got a little something for ya over at my sketch thread.
Rowsie, I'll get you a sketch that I can't post soon!
Sketch... that... he can't... post....
WANT SEEE!!!
And Widow's Chain turned out great Alex!

DJ... when it comes to pinup... Vargas was the master.
Now if I could ever afford the guy... I'd have Hajime Sorayama do a pin-up illustration of my cyborg Mastermind. His style and her story are like... right in sync.
That, would be epic.
But then again, sometimes I see his style creeping into other folks. Like, say, yours.

Vargas is possibly the cleanest, but I think I prefer the playfulness of Elvgren. Sorayama has certainly had an influence on me as well.
I'm an Elvgren fan--his ladies always seem to have that playful vibe as was pointed out above, they seem to be having fun--(I think I'm somewhat biased considering PinUp Girl), the recent George Petty wrangle notwithstanding. But I love most of the classic pinup artists.
And for what it's worth, Darkjedi, Juggertha, Wassy and Alex are ALL on my 'Must have!' list. Someday!

I think folks have been waiting a long time for their artwork and really aren't liking the lack of communication....which is understandable. Let's also keep in mind that up until 2 months ago Jomaro/GIll was posting new artwork on his site, and folks were thrilled at their pieces. So it's only been 60 days since he posted anything new and has been having trouble keeping in contact.
We don't know what's going on so without a message or some kind our minds wander and jump to the worst. So right now everyone who has a commission is in flux and we simply don't know what's happening. All we can do now is wait for a answer of some type.
Also TA, that priceless piece as I recall, there was missing payment from certain parties so that piece was still being held up, then I believe there was a change to it. So I really never expected to see that piece come to light.

Yeah, I think that is where the problem lies. It's been stated again and again that people are confused and "bothered" by the lack of communication. We all know, there is NO problem with the quality of art that he comes out with.
This thread does not need to be about lynching Gill... nor does there need to be any name-calling and such. But if people want to chime in and say "hey, I've paid for this piece months/years ago, and have yet to hear anything back", then I think they're within their rights.
It's a fairly supportive community.. and I've always liked that about this forum. But that means we support ALL of us, artists and collectors alike.
If some collectors are feeling out of sorts, I'm cool with them posting about it - so long as it stays civil and constructive.

Alty how have ya been sweety? *huge hugs for teh Alty*
You of everyone in this thread know just how much i love MMOart and the people that run it. My message that i have tried to get through here is really one of concern. I have every contact info possible for them other then their home address and nothing works, Phone is disconnected, emails returned as undeliverable, no reply in myspace or on DA. Theres a few other ways i have to get ahold of them as well with nothing available. I'm worried about them personally.
On the business end of things, do i feel let down? You bet i do. After 2 years i have 3 very rough drafts to show for my money that was paid in full after we made the contract for services. Thats it. I got the Deathdealer piece after a series of intense emails and a very long phone call with Joe. But no communication since. By me just letting these pieces go.....I dunno, maybe it will offer some relief for him or free him up to do someone elses piece. *shrug*
On that 'Priceless' piece last i heard we were to get seperate individual pieces from it because situations had changed but everyone had all paid up as far as i knew. I know i had and that still puts the piece in the same bracket as a 2 years contract that hasn't been fullfilled on mmoart's side.
Look i have been through all the emotions that go with this. From just flat out pissed, to sad to worried about my friends and i just wanna move on from it. I think that whatever is going on for them, that the queue just looks like this big burden for them. At least from my commissions theres nothing to gain from it anymore. They have had the money and spent it. Nothing is coming from the pieces if her completes it. It's my feeling that they have fallen on hard financial times and the time that would be spent completeing on their promises for paid commissions needs to go into surviving. So i am just walking away from it.
Seriously Alty i know that you talk to them and are as good or better friends with them as i am or was. So if ya hear from them have Joe give me a call so i know he's ok and that nothing serious has happened. Thats all i really care about anymore. Business wise i am done with MMOart.
Great to see ya again though hun!!
Well, I guess my experience with MMOArt isn't that different from others' here after all. It's been since September '06, CuppaJo's going away party, that I've been owed a full color single subject piece by them, for my character winning the costume contest at the event. My problems with them started immediately, however, and they've never been more than barely cordial to me in correspondence.
It was almost six months after the contest when I FINALLY got them to do ANYTHING on my piece. I was sent a rough pencil sketch of a position they suggested for the character. It was about two minutes worth of work, scanning included. The position was totally opposite of the description of the character I had sent in with the screenshots, when I submitted that character to be the subject of my prize piece. I had told them my character (Liberty Eagle, shown as my avatar) was an upright, inspirational Captain America type, likely to be seen standing at attention and saluting the flag. Instead, I got a crouching, twisted post which looked like it was right out of a Wolverine comic. Yes, the character is a claws/regen scrapper, but he's NOT Wolverine.
I was informed (and it was posted on their site) that all prize commissions currently held would be completed by that April. I was told mine was to be done JUST after the next batch of three or so they had to complete from a previous contest. After that, several more months passed with no artwork and no communication, their own stated deadline having become ancient history. Despite a number of emails, I heard nothing more from them until I, in disgust, posted something to these boards, warning others of their lack of performance. It had been exactly a year to the day since my piece had been won in the contest. "Gill" sent me several insulting emails (FINALLY, communication!), saying he would still do the piece out of the goodness of his heart, even though I had insulted him (by telling the truth?) with my posting. Weeks later, and another round of descriptions (resubmitted) and another suggestion by me, for a possible character position and I had ANOTHER two minute sketch, AGAIN in a Wolverine-like crouched and twisted feral pose. When I DARED to say that now BOTH the sketches were totally unlike the character and still looked as if they were copied from a Wolverine comic, "Gill" was again very insulting. As a response, I emailed him a compilation of a number of images of Wolverine, from the comics, each one an almost IDENTICAL pose to one or the other of the sketches I had received. That's the last I heard from him.
I was insulted multiple times in emails and was treated like dirt. I was outright lied to. My information about the character was ignored and I was basically told, in an email, that I was a charity case, just because mine was a prize piece. Some of you may know this guy and even like him, but pardon me if I think MUCH less of him. You may think I'm bashing the guy, but everything I'm saying here is the truth. If the truth hurts, so be it.
The worst part, in my mind, was that he broke faith with CuppaJo. He agreed to provide this piece for HER to give away as a prize at her going away party. I may just be some nameless, faceless COH player, and not worth his time and effort, but when he breaks faith with Cuppa, my (not my character's) claws come out.

Hey PowerPlay, I just wanted to say "thanks for sharing" and I kow it's a sour feeling when you're not happy with a product.
1. I honestly don't think that Gill was copying any Wolverine shots. I've drawn a number of "clawed scrappers" and it's VERY easy to fall into the "wolvie vibe" when plotting it out. Trying to show a figure with claws out... and not making it look like wolverine, it quite hard actually. Heck, even girls can sometimes take on that vibe.
2. It's obvious that Gill is not able to complete your prize (for whatever reason). So, in the spirit of forum harmony, I did up this Patriotic Pose for ya. It's not at Gill's level, but maybe you'll accept it as your prize instead.
Hope ya dig.
(and hope someone here's some news from MMOART)
That was really generous of you to do.You even waited for it to be done so you didn't get his hopes up in case it ended up getting delayed.
Very kind of you Juggertha.
I was actually wondering the same thing...
Juggy, Alex, and Darkjedi, and thats just a few of the commissionable artists that weren't listed. Alex has been pumping them out lately (getting ready for the baby due in about a month and a half) and even I relented and finally commissioned him so I could get his address and send him baby stuff.
