Priceless 6yr old moment; brought to you by the flu.

My son got a bit ill over the last weekend and was vomiting quite a bit. My wife was obviously dismayed at the mopping and sponging which did not go un-noticed. Honest as can be my son asked, "Mom, do you still love me when I throw-up?" A solid hug and affirmation later he perked up and went about being a kid, and its a good thing that he is (finally) developing a sence of empathy, but still its just one of those moments as a parent that sticks with you and reminds you that your kids are watching; and sometimes a re-affirming hug and "I love you" can really make thier day.

And on that note of 6yr old mayhem, he is still quite entrigued with City of Heroes. I might be bringing him online with me in the near future. Aside from the obvious chat filter and setting his tabs to only include a few select channels, anything else I should have set for him before logging him in?

Well, I mostly finally finished adopting my six year old...we started in December 2007, and then there was a lot of random bs, but the state of Michigan informed us today that pending a tb test from each of us, we were good to go.

That's great new CG.

Wise advice from my Son's baseball coach. After running several wind-sprints he asked, "Are you guys tired?" "No" "Then you haven't run enough yet." They run a few more and he asked, "Are you guys tired?" "Yes." "You guys must be out of shape. You need to run some more."

Little update on me an my family. Haven't been on much this week due to the really bad ice storm that hit us here in the midwest. Thankfully we had only minimal loss of power for a half a day unlike most who lost theirs Tuesday morning and who possibly won't get any till Saturday at midnight. Thankful we got ours and have had family camped over for warmth and such. Gonna be a hell'va water and electric bill but thankfully we can cover that since none of us only had to miss one day of work so no finacial strain which is DANG good in this day and age. Don't have internet either so no CoH, but you'd be surprised about what old pc games you'll find stashed away from way back that still work.

Either way I hope...HOPE they get all lines up an working again so I can be back in game again. So I am glad I have access at work right now to send this so have a good one fokes, hope to be back in sometime later this week or early next weekend.

Best of luck to you and yours Darzer. I remember when the power grid went kaputz all over the East Coast a few years ago.. thank goodness it was summer. We were without power for 3 daze.. but we had a BLAST. The whole neighborhood parked their BBQ's on their front lawns, all the kiddy pools were filled on front lawns and we all came together to cook meals on BBQ's and some of the men drove to towns that had power to get ice and beer.. we all pooled our resources and had sooo much fun. But in winter it's so frightening.. I panic.

OMG My kids are in sooo much trouble. The 8 year old ,meaning to toss the Game Boy over the fence, actually tossed it on the roof of the apartment. When asked why he sais, "I wanted it in the back yard when I went back there." >.> K so he's grounded for a week. I also grounded the 4 yr old because he took the Game Boy outside to begin with when I said it's an inside toy. The cannot watch TV, play outside, nor play video games.

My question is this... is a week too long at this age? And did I over do what they are not allowed to do? (It rained that night and I still can't get it down)

A week is forever.. can't you borrow a ladder? Sounds like torture for both you and them. What will you do to keep them occupied? If the Gameboy was a well used and loved posession, I'd collect the games it used and trade most of them in for a second hand Gameboy.. or a raptor pack.

Pay no mind to me.. it's early and I'm still half asleep.

Tossed a game boy... ouch. Probably better its on the roof than surviving the ground impact.
And I wouldnt sweat the rain, just dry it out and is probably good to go (they have remarkably good seals on them, only the external connectors are exposed to corrosion, but are usually gold plated.)

Anyways, a week is not too long; but as mentioned it has to be enforcable. If you dont stick to a week, then you devalue your authority. Currently I have my 13yr-olds cel phone hostage based on her grades =)

A week is ok for the 8 year old, but not sure about the 4 year old. It would be hard to separate their punishments without the kids whining about why one got more or less than the other, but there's gotta be a compromise there somewhere.

Loose --> not tight.
Lose --> Did not win, misplace, cannot find, subtract.
One extra 'o' makes a big difference.

I agree with WHF, Ok for the 8, but too long for the 4, but where do you make the compromise. I suggest that they can "get back" a few days by behaving during this time. Set asside time for reading only, for both kids, even if it's looking at picture books for the younger one.

Good luck and I hope you survive the week.

Got a call from my wife earlier today. The little one (she just turned two last month) wants to speak to me. Cool. She gets on.
She says "hello daddy and yadda, yadda, yadda......"
So then she says - "I want to show you something."
As I am saying - "you can show daddy when he gets home..."
I get ........"you see it daddy?!?!?!?!?!? You see it?!?!??!!?"
Me - "Errrrrrrr....yeah....YEAH! It's awesome!!!!!! "

Did I mention she just turned two?!?!?!??!?!?!

LOL Thanks GP.

Here's another one. This one brought to you by the older of the two. She happens to be three and a half.

I walk into the bedroom this morning. Looking over the clothe selection for today. I see she's awake and in our bed. Mommy is *ahem...asleep....(she's a preggo so it's all good! hehe) So I tell her, have a good day and daddy loves you and yadda, yadda, yadda. She replies:

-"Daddy....are you going to work today?"
-"Yes Angelica. Daddy is going to work today."
-Are you going to work tomorrow?"
-"Yes Angelica. I am also going to work on Saturday, and probably Sunday too...." (Hey I am an accountant. This is my "slow" season....right....)
-"Why are you going to work?"
-"Daddy is going to work to make money honey. We need money...."
-"So mommy, Violet and me can go shopping?"
*Facepalm*......"Yes honey. So you gals can go shopping....have a good day. Daddy still loves you." As I creep out of the bedroom... all at once...
