Thanks guys. I'm just glad he's finally let it out.
On another note... I scoured the stores today.. and I couldn't find a Wii ANYWHERE. ARGH!!!!

costco or bj's wholesale club has them all. only becuase everyone shops at those places last for such needs. you may have to ask for a computer check, as...sometimes they are not on the shelves, or even displayed.
good hunting.
The shortage of Wii's is a Nemesis plot I say!!!
nemesis only likes pinball. no worries.
I am so going for the xbox 360 but not til AFTER Xmas. I am not one of the insane and I'd rather not get trampled like that dude in NY. But I am having second thoughts about it because my oldest is only 8. He has a PS2 (my old one) and he just wants the Force Unleased game. So should I really get the 360? (grafix are not an issue for him at this time)
I would look at the rating for games and see if you really want the 360. The few games I have for it are all rated M. I also use my 360 as an over priced DVD player since most games I play are PC based.

The 360 is nice, I have one, our boy has one (so he doesn't use mine HA!) so yes it is a nice system. But buying a system for one game alone is really not a good bargin unless you plan on using it as a DvD player as well. The Forced Unleashed, eh, its okay, had a friend who beat it in one night. And yeah, rating is a thing to look at for them like GoW and GoW2 are definately NOT games for an 8 yr old. Granted they could see and hear worse in movies and the news these games but wow, I don't think you'd enjoy your child running around the house yelling "That's five Mother*****!!!! at the top of his lungs." However if he can manage to tolorate RPG's, there are a couple good ones he could probably play as well.

For a kid that young, the Wii will have more games targetting his age.
The 360 and PS3 are more geared towards the Teenager and Young Adult crowd as far as game ratings go.
A first for me ever, I think. I was on at the same time GP was. (I saw you say goodbye. )
GP, happy birth day to your son. For some, healing takes longer.
Re Wii: We got ours last year from Costco. We called the stores every day for when they would get a delivery. They usually can tell you when it is expected. We then haunted the store until they unloaded them. We were such a pest the store manager actually called me at work when they unloaded the truck. (There were only 12 and I walked into the store just as they were bringing the palet onto the floor. ) And I recommend the lego games. Hours and hours of entertainment with the Lego Starwars.

OMG, Lego used to be my favorite Christmas gift. It doesn't matter what you get, how big it is or pricy.. just having the lego give you more options to build other things. I used to destroy my 4 spaceships and build one HUGE one from all the parts.
I believe this is the kind of gift you should get a kid, something that help his imagination without being like all those other " kids learning toys" that look really bad in most case.
The Wii Legos are not the building blocks you are thinking of. It is the Starwars characters made of Legos and when they defeat their opponent, the shatter into Lego blocks. But it's fun. You run around with light sabers, blasters. You even get to "buy" different characters so you can be a good Darth Vader, Yoda or even a ghost.

lol I know that. but you made me think of those Lego as the block. Which are not expensive and ( personally) is far better suited for any kids between 5 to 10 ( yes 10 lol ). And in any case I was just pointing out that you made me remember them and the fun I had playing and building stuff with them .
Legos are banned from this house.. ever stepped on one bare foot? My son Tom loves Lego Indiana Jones on the PS3.

DUPLO's? Probably not a choking hazard. Toddlers and up can build towers and things.

We can always start another should this one get nerfed.
Webkinz.
My six year old daughter wants one for Christmas. Some of her friends have them, apparently. I'm not sure what to think of them. Does anyone have any experience with them?

My friends kids have dozens.
My son has a Webkinz, and enjoys it.
