actually this all started with a particularly viscious attack on an artist for posting something that, while actually fairly tame, offended their sensibillities. When a fight breaks out in public the police often find their utlimate resolution in one of two ways.
one... throw the whole lot in jail. And the more flames and attacks from either side that occur, the closer this metaphorically gets to happening to this forum.
two... find out who threw the first punch. And the simple fact is that was NOT the forum regulars who did so.
No one has been called a "hater" for expressing an opion. The were called "haters" due to unprovoked attacks on the foum regulars.

Also I wasn't calling anyone in particular a 'hater'. It's just the term I happen to use, and the general populace understands what it means. Should I have said 'those of dissenting opinions'?
This forum has always been a light and lively place and of course we do not rail on 'new' people to try to make them feel unwelcome. Nor do 'we' expect everyone who comes here to align their opinions with the 'majority' whatever that is.
In fact this thread was created BECAUSE we were trying to keep things light and laugh about things because there was a relatively 'angry' discussion going on the other thread. So this one was made so we can all go ha ha ha and move on with our lives. And heck it may have even drummed up some business for some people!!
The mods did not give this thread their 'blessing'. They didn't give it their anything at all! They continue to monitor for rule-breaking, which while yes maybe this 'skirts' around the rules but if it's not a direct violation then there is no rules broken. Sensibilities? Maybe. But again if you (again, the general 'you' not any one person in particular) read from the beginning and dove around and clicked about 5 times to get to the subject matter being discussed, that takes a lot of conscious effort, and everything was VERY well labeled.
Ok I don't really know what I'm trying to say, I'm not very good at arguments and I do not want to make anyone upset so I'm just gonna drop everything. If you don't want to see something very clearly labeled as what it is then don't click, that's all I'm sayin.

Heck, that's the way I've been viewing this thread. To "mock and jeer the discontenters" would require malicious intent in the creation of the thread...which I really didn't see whatsoever. It's more so been "That last thread inspired me, let's let our hair down and have some fun...just bear in mind that direct links of that fun cannot be posted here *wink wink*").

This. No links to the artwork in question were posted and if someone wants to view said artwork, they have to actively seek out. To the best of my knowledge, no forum rules were broken.
CaptainScience - Your argument in the previous thread was that tasteful NSFW pieces should not be posted since they do not follow the forum rules in the most literal sense. Well, if you go by a literal interpretation of the rules, then this thread is okay. So what is your problem? Honestly, it seems that your only beef is COH/V related NSFW art is even being done. If that is the case, then I'd venture to guess that you'd be against any discussion that remotely even references such pieces of art. The problem is that by making something like that (i.e. innuendo and vague references to "adult" topics) against the rules, such rules would be completely subjective and pretty difficult to moderate.
And lord help us all if innuendo was banned! The forums would go silent!!!!!

This has pretty much been my experience on this particular forum thus far. I wouldn't consider myself a "regular" in this forum since I've mostly been a artzy lurker and only started posting here fairly recently (TA encouraged me to get a DA site, so I figured while I was at it, may as well start posting here as well! 
). I must say that the "regulars" have been pretty darn friendly towards me thus far...a good number of regulars from this forum even added me as DA friends right off the bat and welcomed me with open arms.
From what I've been able to gather, the rule of thumb in this forum is pretty much the same as anywhere else (RL or teh intarwebs)..."do unto others as you would have them do unto you." In other words, to be received kindly, all you have to do is respect others' opinions and don't be a jerk.

This whole thread was specifically created to jeer at those who dissented, to "oh so cleverly" break the forum rules, and to mock those rules by pushing the boundaries beyond merely "Not Safe For Work", but off into the realm of pornography.

If you've been around the section and read the various threads and comments posted there, you would know that you couldn't be further from the truth here.
The only posts I ever see get "tweaked" are those who come across as "holier than thou", and those who start out being overly judgemental of those who they've never interacted with.
The vast majority of the time the posts are supportive of what art is posted, be it great or not-so.

No - When I post that I disagree it is simply that: I disagree with whats been said. I do not think that NSFW stuff belongs here, and I do NOT think that this nudge-nudge, wink, wink oh-so-NOT-vague thread and its associated images belong here, either.

First off, the original link which was started the uproar about in the other thread had age-verification on it. All (or most) Deviant Art links have age-verification on them.
As for this thread, there have been no direct links here. Simply people talking about art which they have created regarding peoples COH/COV characters. Isn't what this forum is for?
Also age-verification is useless anyway. It's incredibly easily bypassed. It's the responsibility of the PARENTS to monitor underage internet usage! IN my opinion anyway. And as a parent.

Perhaps Rowr shouldn't have used the word Haters (however, it does describe how they felt about said subject, but that's neither here nor there *shrugs*) Everyone can't like everyone, but for the most part the forum is friendly. Snow's comment started an argument, as I am sure he knew it would. Why try to keep up the argument. No one is going to agree with each other so it's pointless.

That out of the way, thought I'd add a middle of the road suggestion: This thread was created for one purpose, most people knew what that was, whether they liked the subject matter or not. If you don't like the subject matter, don't read the thread. If you believe that it shouldn't be posted and shouldn't remain, REPORT IT. If the mods deem it against the rules, they'll do whats necessary. The reply count as of this posting is 190. I'd generally think if this thread had to go in the eyes of the mods it'd be gone by now, but it's possibly that they haven't looked or didn't see anything wrong. Nevertheless, I'll repeat, report it. PM a mod and explain why you think the thread or subject matter doesn't belong. If the mods smack this thread, I'll be fine with it, as I'm guessing most of the people posting will be too since I doubt they won't be too shocked to see it happen. But hey see how it goes, it could go either way. Just note that it it's reported and the thread isnt' affected, arguing over whether it should be here is a bit moot.

what I see a problem with is someone deciding for themselves what is or is not appropriate and trying to force it on the rest of us.
The original "problem" was someone stating that we were breaking the rules... and you specifically supporting that statement.
Then I posted another thread on the topic, which continued the debate.
Then the MODS, who enforce the rules around here, very graciously clarified what was breaking the rules and what was not. And the MODS determined that in this thread, we are NOT.
So please shut up about what we are doing to the forums. You are the only causing problems around here.
