Found this on Paragon Wiki: "Bug! Acantha seems to fade in and out of appearing on the map. (This bug may because she is on the static NPC timer instead of registering as a contact.) If players cannot find her at her location, they should move outside of drawing distance and then return (repeat a few times if necessary)."

Ether I think he was talking about the fact I had 3 total links on the post before editing it.

Not on the pic itself, but on the artist's DeviantArt site, which was also linked, there is certainly some very mature stuff But it's been removed now, so you're safe.

    [/ QUOTE ]
That is precisely what I meant.
  6. You need to change or disable the Paul Rose link - it breaks the forum's "two-clicks" rule.
  7. I think the enforcement of "Not Safe For Work" (ie: nudity) artwork in the art forums is too lax.

There have been, and are threads where the purpose is to figure out how to sneakily link to NSFW images somehow under the Mod's radar - often by merely stating "It'll get modded if I put a link - but if you go to the DeviantArt link in my sig and then check my Blog - you might find something naughty"

Its widely discussed there that its the accepted method to skirt the rules and still have character art porn.

The forums are supposed to be all ages for an all ages game - that sort of thing really doesn't belong here, on these boards.

Yet it still gets by the Mods.

well we know the real reason the City Scoop and Science guy are trying to stir up rabble here

Mainly to get the thread locked .

I give the thread another day or so of life before the mods close it just to stop the whining .

maybe we should have City Scoop and Science make a list of what we are allowed to post on their forums

    [/ QUOTE ]
No - When I post that I disagree – it is simply that: I disagree with what’s been said. I do not think that “NSFW” stuff belongs here, and I do NOT think that this “nudge-nudge, wink, wink” oh-so-NOT-vague thread and its associated images belong here, either.

I'm stating my opinion here in hopes that SOMEONE ... ANYone will wake up and see beyond all the "oh we're so clever" sniggers and realize that this thread - and the mindset it represents – is anything BUT “Light-hearted fun.”

It does not belong on this forum. It will serve only drag the forum down towards the gutter.

Go ahead and put it someplace else with proper age-verification (which the links involved here do NOT have), go find someplace else where this sort of thing IS appropriate. But don’t bring it HERE – you all KNOW this is not the place for it. You’re posting it admitting that you know it’s probably going to get mod-smacked – but you’re posting it anyway just to see how long you can get away with it.

Doesn’t ANYBODY see the problem with that?

    I guess not.

I also disagree that this section is unfriendly. It's remarkably friendly...

    [/ QUOTE ]

This has pretty much been my experience on this particular forum thus far. I wouldn't consider myself a "regular" in this forum since I've mostly been a artzy lurker and only started posting here fairly recently (TA encouraged me to get a DA site, so I figured while I was at it, may as well start posting here as well! ). I must say that the "regulars" have been pretty darn friendly towards me thus far...a good number of regulars from this forum even added me as DA friends right off the bat and welcomed me with open arms.

From what I've been able to gather, the rule of thumb in this forum is pretty much the same as anywhere else (RL or teh intarwebs)..."do unto others as you would have them do unto you." In other words, to be received kindly, all you have to do is respect others' opinions and don't be a jerk.

    [/ QUOTE ]

...unless you happen to disagree with the reigning opinion of said "regulars" and have the audacity to voice that dissenting opinion - regardless of whether it is stated politely, reasonably or not. Then you will be roundly jeered, labeled a "hater", and shunned.

This whole thread was specifically created to jeer at those who dissented, to "oh so cleverly" break the forum rules, and to mock those rules by pushing the boundaries beyond merely "Not Safe For Work", but off into the realm of pornography.

...but, oh - its "okay" because the "regulars" think its cool, and the mods have given it their blessing.

    [/ QUOTE ]

If you've been around the section and read the various threads and comments posted there, you would know that you couldn't be further from the truth here.

The only posts I ever see get "tweaked" are those who come across as "holier than thou", and those who start out being overly judgemental of those who they've never interacted with.

The vast majority of the time the posts are supportive of what art is posted, be it great or not-so.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I HAVE "been around the section and read the various threads and comments posted" - and I stand by my statement.

Do you think the haters have been sufficiently shushed?

    [/ QUOTE ]
The problem is classing everyone that disagrees as "haters".

If the moderators disagreed with those that objected to the pieces, they would not have been edited. As they [u]were[u] edited, it follows that with the increased moderator presence that pictures of that type are no longer appropriate on these forums.

By calling another group "haters", you are continuing to make this section hostile to those that do not come here on a regular basis.

I would think that any artist that uses this section (and I realize you are a collector) of the forums would try to keep the section a more welcoming place for newcomers so that they would get [u]more[u] commissions. Less people frequenting this section equals less exposure (pun intended) to those that do not know an artist's work. I know this would be unacceptable to me.

I'm just glad that it appears this drama episode seems to be ending so I can get back to [u]enjoying and creating[u] art.

    Well stated Snow_Globe...

My quote was not directed at anyone in particular and I apologize if you felt it was directed towards you.

I want you to understand that I do know where you are coming from and I do totally understand. I don't know what more there is to say about this. The forums have rules. They're pretty standard rules IMO. Everyone knows the rules (I think).

    Simple solution:
Do not directly link anything that could be considered a violation.

Exactly, although if you had a chance to jump on Age of Conan to check out the RP-PVP server, it was kinda sad to see most of characters encountered tended to be loin cloth wearing barbarians, or topless women wearing very little else. And yes, they had nipples. Then again that is an 18+ game for adults.... err... yeah.

...and thats really NOT the player base that NCSoft wants - they want the broader base of the all-ages range. Its better economically and its safer.

Pushing that "mature theme" boundary is risky, business-wise - conservative groups put pressure on companies, and on stores. (there's the whole bit with Wal-Mart refusing to carry certain things unless they're sanitized - and even though many of us know Wal-Mart is evil - its a HUGE chain with lots of power).

You can debate the philosophical questions of "is it art or is it porn" all you want. It would be nice if we all lived in a nice, happy, well-adjusted world where no one was offended and no one's mommy & daddy sued anybody over little johnny seeing naked breasts on the forum for his favorite game (this is an Official NCSoft forum - not a fan-run homage)... but, you have to realize that we live in THIS world - where there are people who are genuinely offended (regardless of what YOU view as "art") and some of those people WILL sling the law at what they fear. Thats just not a headache that NCSoft is gonna want.

** I'm only saying this because it seems that no one is seeing that side of it - NCSoft does have to protect themselves - and they will, if push comes to shove. You all can keep expecting that your safe because you've been posting your deviantart-links with "NSFW" warnings and 'its not been a problem" (although it was today, and I believe I've seen some mod-smacks in the past, too- honestly).

Just realize there's more to it than just YOU - and that by continuing to "find ways around the rules" that there is some risk involved.

maybe, just maybe, this isn't the place to push that particular boundary until it breaks. because we do all love this game and want it to continue.

    Just consider it.

    carry on.

This is actually an interesting and relevant topic for me. I've been working on a set of pin-ups of my main character, Light-Speed. The images are laid out and presented as if it were a Playboy spread, complete with interview, fact sheet, and centerfold... plus 3 - 4 smaller shots. I had originally assumed I'd post the images here, but am reminded that the boards are visited by a younger crowd, so it might not be suitable material.

That being said, I'll be following this discussion until the end.

Why do people feel the need to post NSFW stuff?
You do realize it's against the rules, and labeling it as NSFW doesn't make it OK to do it.

    [/ QUOTE ]
...ya know, I've asked this in other threads myself - only to be called a "geek" and told that its "okay" since the deviantart stuff won't show unless you're already logged into deviantart account that's says you're old enough to see "mature" material.

    go figure.

    Hulk Art

    thats really great! wow!
  20. The thing to do is ask those artists what THEY think "City of X" characters are. Their opinion is really what decides if they're willing to do the art, isn't it?
