Your Market and You! - A Guide
Great Guide!
Not only was it informative, it was entertaining to read.
Centinull
Change made, Thanks Fulmens! First draft I think I had a likening to a 5-rowed slot machine, but I guess I forgotted it in copy-n-pasting like a madperson. Either way, was a definite error on my part.
Now, all I need to do is get a mod to move this into the 'guides' section, and I'll be set because I was too dumb from cutting-and-pasting to realize I posted it in the market forum until 12:14am, almost 6 hours after I posted the dang thing!
*facepalm*
Can I get some help from a mod?
Another: trial recipes are on a 24-hour timer, not 3-hour like Pool C.
"One day we all may see each other elsewhere. In Tyria, in Azeroth. We may pass each other and never know it. And that's sad. But if nothing else, we'll still have Rhode Island."
Chatty Chuck, a person who is just waiting for i12, is spending their time gabbing on their favorite few global channels, and while super-speeding to Atlas to hold a killer costume contest, accidentally kills a few Malta in PI with a nuke by hitting the wrong button while typing during auto-run. His average comes out to 10k an hour.
I busted out laughing spilling coffee all over my screen and keyboard while just reading this part..
tl; dr
(Actually, really good, but I figure that's what will happen to most of the people who actually need to read it. Is that cynical, pessimistic, realistic or just {censered}?)
You forgot about Sam Solo who never teams and only produces Pool A and Bs. I think Sam is a significant percentage of CoX players.

LMAO!!. My Scrap SamRri solo'd most of his career ( of course that was before Inventions but still...)
I'll go ahead and put in Sam Solo, but to explain, I chose those 4 because they pointed out the extremes for solo inf, solo prestige, teaming inf/prestige, and non-fighting.
Either way, i'll slap him in so you non-farming solo types don't feel left out.
I think Sam Solo is probably closer to the average Joe that you are targeting this guide to. It will explain to him why things are the way they are and what he needs to do to increase his understanding of the market.

Actually, this was originally targeted against those people that come on the market forum to complain that stuff costs too much or whatever. They generally shoot down each constructive 'hey this is what I did' post with much wailing and gnashing of teeth, and blame everything from secret market cabals keeping sale prices down, to secret market cabals keeping buy prices up, to evil players, and whatever. (see my 'UNPOSSIBLE!' post for more)
Either way, good point, as I added Sam (who is relatively gender neutral!) and thanked you for the suggestion.
You mention Casual Kim in the second part but not in the first.

So, it takes our hapless Teaming Terri and her team 24 hours to do a Trial. End result? 1 Pool D recipes per day. And yes, if doing a trial that involves other missions/baddies, you can have chances at the pool A and pool B recipes again.
It doesn't take 24 hours to do a Trial, you can only get a Trial recipe once in 24 hours. Trials are usually timed at under 2 hours.

Rodney the Red - Around the time he hit level 12, he got a Recipe and Salvage on his power tray, and he left it like that.
Nice work.
I believe the best way to describe who can give purple drops are enemies that *con* 50 or higher. I could be wrong, but I believe that's right.
See, that's the confusing thing. I know I got a purple from some a lvl 49 boss (someone on team was a 50), and I know I got one on the LGTF the other day while lackeyed to a 50. So I don't know if those are glitches or the way they're supposed to work, or what. I was under the impression that it was 'only lvl 50 characters can get them, from lvl 50+ enemies that drop recipes', but my own personal experence has proved it to be slightly different.
Should I just change it to what the devs say it *should* be? (ie: cut-n-paste from the forums/paragonwiki/whatever)
Very enjoyable guide, thanks!

There was a dev post once upon a time about them. They are dependent on the dropper not the droppee.
While soloing my blaster got a purple at level 48 and 2 at level 49. I was not paying close enough attention to who dropped them but I was set at heroic so there were no bosses in my missions.
total kick to the gut
This is like having Ra's Al Ghul show up at your birthday party.
That's the issue. I know I got a purple drop from a non-50 enemy. So is there a hidden rule where an LT/Boss counts as an extra level or two? ie: lvl 49 LT drops lvl 50, lvl 49 Boss drops lvl 51?
I has been shown that any mob that can drop a level 50 recipe can drop a Purple recipe. So anything 47 and above. This is backed by a number of anecdotes supporting this. Whether that was what the Devs intended is not known because their statements are vague.

One tiny modification I would suggest:

However, due to the RNG, maybe you got an inspiration instead of a recipe or invention salvage. And even if you do get a recipe or invention salvage, there's also another spin on the RNG to determine what rarity/kind it is.

There are five "rolls"- I remember someone using the phrase "the quinfecta." Inspiration, enhancement, recipe, base salvage and regular salvage. Inspirations aren't elbowing out your recipes.
