Lighthouse will be in attendance at both Comicon (San Diego) and PAX (Seattle) so rattle his cage or make suggestions on a place where you all can get together and talk about trowing tings.

Not sure offhand where PAX is being stuffed this year (I can think of about five places to put it), but I'm betting the convention center.

(Checking the website gives me the clue that the Sheraton is across the street... that'd be the convention center.)

As far as places to gather - there's from boring like the Rock Bottom Brewery to more interesting, like the Owl 'n Thistle. I'm assuming that you don't want restaurants that are $30-$60 a plate, so it'd take me more than a few minutes to find appropriate places; I'd have to ask some friends.

But finding a place in Seattle is more than possible. Just let me know what the requirements are, and it'll get done.

Yeah, guess so.

The Austin one is gone now too.

Make sure you email me at exlibris@ncsoft.com if you are planning on being at GenCon in Indy. We found the registration for the Indy event was prematurely closed and I will be emailing updates as we know further details.

So if you are planning on being in Indy during that time and would like updates on any official or unofficial gatherings please contact me with your email address.

Also please let me know of any unofficial COH/COV gatherings that I can update the community about or plan to attend when I am there.

Thanks,

Ex

What happened to the IRC meetings? Even if they questions were chosen with a bias towards easy answers, the IRC meetings made me feel like the Dev Team was at least trying to communicate with us.

I'm wondering what the difference is between "signing up" and simply "showing up". Are people turned away at the door if the place is full or something?

edit: this post only deals with gencon in indy. i wish i could make both gatherings, but a trip to austin is out of reach for me this year.

i doubt it. like most resturants with private function capability, alcatraz will have resturant space available to the gen public. just getting into the "gathering" will probably require being on the list. but not to worry, that are is smack full of eateries. i'm sure finding a place to gather with the gencon crowd will be easy, even if it's not in the "official" ncsoft gathering. when the dust settles on the official gathering and it's all booked, we COx folk can always pick an adjacent venue to decend on and take over. maybe we'll all just go to alcatraz a little early and then it will be as good as having booked the whole resturant

see you all there!

I'm not familiar with Alcatraz, but I'm assuming that it is at least as large or larger than Dave&Busters-Austin. The Austin event would be well within my means to attend, as I live in San Antonio, a mere skip to the south from Austin.

Out of curiousity, I checked with the D&B in Austin, and their patron capacity is 1,320. I'm curious as to how many people were allowed to "sign up" via the NCSoft site. I'd be a little incredulous to hear that less than three days after the event was posted, thirteen hundred people who all intend to show up signed up and "closed" the signup window.

I haven't attended one of these events before, but if the response is really that overwhelming, then I'm thinking that a larger venue that can accommodate greater numbers of people is in order.

I've been to the Alcatraz in Indy. It's not all that large. One year, ten of us from Virtue reserved the little private room upstairs. No wonder it got filled up so fast.. on a Saturday night during Gencon, you can't even get into many of the restaurants, everything is so crowded.

For the meet and greet to fit, you'd need the entire restaurant for those hours, just for whoever signed up. No walkins would fit, IMO.

So hey if I show up, will it be reasonable to expect some tongue? I mean it IS a long drive so there should be some sort of reward and I hear that Positron had said all who

true true... if dave and busters in austin has a cap of 1320... and the sign up for that is already closed, perhaps ncsoft should take the hint and find a bigger venue in indy. i like the arts garden. it's basically a big glass enclosure attatched to the other end of the mall alcatraz is attached to.

i can hear it now... "this alcatraz is in a MALL!!!" fear not my fellow COx players. long story short, this mall is huge and is the anchor of down town. all the best night spots are within about 3 blocks of the mall with many built right into it. the convention center itself is only 2 blocks away.

the arts garden is suspended above an intersection so you get a good view of what is happeneing all around both inside and out. it has direct access to one of the best food courts in town so even if it hits official capacity, all us walk ups are right there next to the gathering... almost like making it one huge sprawling get together. and there is a gameworks arcade just a quick escalator ride up from the food court. and the arts garden has wifi access. and if the food court is not your thing, there is still always alcatraz (or st. elmo's, or the webber grill, or hard rock cafe, or the spaghetti factory, ect. ect. ect.)

The Old Spaghetti Factory is good, can hold a good sized crowd, but it gets slow when it's crowded. Got a free meal once because it was so slow

True story, not making it up, last year on Saturday night all the open eateries in downtown Indiannapolis ran out of food, I had to go almost two miles away to find something that was open and had food. So be very wary. They may have the bugs fixed this year (it was the same night as a Bears-Colts preseason game, so that may have been a factor) but better to be prepared than not.

Also, people who do not know how to drink really pour it on this weekend, so be mindful of your fellow gamer in Indiannapolis.

It took a while (and you cannot find this info on the PAX web site...) but PAX will be held at the Wash. State Convention and Trade Center (directions here). There are a LOT of restaurants and entertainment venues nearby.

I have some resources at work (a notable, global coffee company based in Seattle) and can help plan an event (or events) as well, at least within the limitations of RL. Keep us updated...

I'm really looking forward to this. The problem, though, is that I don't see anywhere I can sign up at for the Austin location. Is it closed, and am I jutt screwed out of this awesome opportunity? I live so close to D&B; it's gonna kill me to know there's awesome people that I can't meet there

We will be posting updates as we know more information at this time there appears to still be room at both the GenCon and Austin events.

At this time I am taking emails of those wishing to attend GenCon since that is right around the corner. As we get closer to Austin if no updates have been made I will do the same.

During Gencon, anything and everything is packed to hell, so a place like alcatraz or champs is the best, casual dining blah blah blah. Hell you could all take a long walk down to the slippery noodle if ya wanted

Lookin forward to seein you guys at gencon!

alcatraz has changed and has limited space. Look to see if you get a room at Jilians or Rock Bottom. Better food and service.
