[EDIT] I know this is the "Duel Ladder" not the "Team Ladder", but in lieu of recent posts of people ducking fights due to what I call the Pokemon Factor. This is a rough draft of an idea to perhaps reduce the people not wanting to fight somebody cause of their AT/Build. By no means should this be made a rule but it's an idea I came up with that I think may benefit more openminded competitive people.
I wonder if team matches could be incorporated into the ladder somehow. Not sure how ranking would go into play, but I believe this would provide more variety into the matches. And could soften some of the "Pokemon" effect could be mitigated, ie...OMG my [insert AT here] cannot beat that [insert FotM here] so instead of walking into a slaughter you make it an equitable endeavor for both sides by compromising. Now if your ducking fights you cannot demand to have a 'team' battle to fight somebody...suck it up and take your lickings. Me personally I know if I was gonna demolish somebody simply cause they couldn't handle my build, I'd like to make it a lil more competitive.
One way could be, if two people wanna go at it but know that Pokemon is involved they can come to some sort of middle ground. For example; My rad/psi def will pwn your bots/dark so you may get an ice/em tank if i get a /cold corr or a /storm Troller. Obviously this is hypothetical but this is just an idea. The people that are the actual Challengers, not the "Ringers", are the ones who take hits in the standings. If all parties agree to some sort of way that they could all potentially gain/lose then I'm sure that could also be worked in. It sounds a lot more difficult than I want it to but I'm tired and this is what popped in my head.
Going with bigger teams and maybe having Cpt's for each team take hits in the stands might be one way of doing bigger events; I'd rather see the SG Ladder take off though as oppose to using the duel ladder to micro manage all Arena PvP. /e rant off

After one full week, we just had our 50th character added to the ladder. There are currently 37 registered ladder players and 18 ranked characters.
36 ladder matches have been reported, with 18 of those coming yesterday. A very nice flurry of activity. Hopefully a sign of things to come.
When I delete match reports from the "Report Losses" thread, I add the result to the "Match Results History" thread which is also in the Report Losses forum.
Big thanks to all of you who are participating in the ladder and trying to make it work. Fun stuff!
I hope to do some more matches soon but i seem to have gotten banned on GuildPortal (not sure why) so i cant post my losses when they happen lol

You're not the only member there (unless you joined the wrong one). There's quite a few of us on "The Ladder". (many are on perma hide)

are you sure you didn't create a channel by accident instead of joining one?
It only displays the members that are currently online (on the field I typically view anyway), so if you happened to join the ladder at a time when no other members were online, it might appear as though you're the only person using the channel (which you would be at that time).
Since it's a new channel, it's likely that many of the ladder members have not yet joined, and consequently you may very well have been the only ladder member subscribed to the channel and online at the time you checked.

no, not sure where u heard that from. ajax's ice/cold pwnd my dark/cold, not my ice tank lol. im not THAT bad.
divine got me cause i underestimated the dmg with reds, but after a DC/rematch, couldnt kill me. same with the domi, i underestimated his ability to run me out of breaks, and played kinda stupid. rematch and i won.

If he did that dueling against you, it's not the first time he's run that stunt. I think when he was dueling Lacuna's Ill/Rad, he quit out early (possibly faking a D/C). I can't remember.

Now, since there's some rock/paper/scissors involved in duels, sometimes it seems pointless to enter into a duel when you know the outcome beforehand. For example, my ice/thermal got smacked down by an ice/em Tank. If I get challenged by five more ice/em tanks, and lose each one, I may not be excited for my next match against an ice/em tank. The sportsmanlike thing to do when challenged by the seventh ice/em tank would be for me to accept the challenge and either fight it out 'till the end, giving it my best go. Or if I'm eager to fight someone else, call the match after he takes the lead 1 - 0 with a "good game" and move on. If this MM is in a similar situation with rad/psy's based on previous experience, he should still be willing to accept challenges and accept defeat.

I applied to the website. I limited right now. I got some projects I'm working on live. But test server pvp ranked matches now and then could be fun.
Should there be a time limit on how many challenges you can accept from one person if you choose to? I can see some people be singled out to farm everyday in order to leap frog people in the ladder. Like how you said ur ice/ corr can't really beat a ice/ tank. So if ur corr was number one and a ice/ tank (who was near the bottom of the ladder) singled you out everyday, he would leap frog people over and over not challenging other people in the ladder.
I say something like 3 - 5 days would be nice. I myself have beaten people above me, but I feel like I would be cheating if I repeatedly try to fight them every chance I get.
I accepted a challenge from Ownage's ice/EM tank to my ice/cold corr.
I knew I had 0 chance of winning that, yet I stayed the full 10 minutes, even after the first death. I manage to keep it at 0-3, which was a moral victory by itself.
I wont turn down challenges based on AT rock, paper, scissor, however I do understand the need to limit constant, repeated challenges of matches of this type where you have no chance whatsoever.
