Yuri moved silently along the back wall and in the bushes, staying low so no one could see her. She found a tree somewhat close to the group of swordsmen. She ran to the tree without stepping on any leaves or twigs, then jumped up to the higher branches.

-Ping!-

A sudden sound rang through the garden. She pulled herself up quickly and gracefully, following the sound to its origin. When her eyes caught two pebbles flying toward the battle, she reached for her left pocket.

Yuri felt around for her left pocket, but could find it. She looked down, and then realized that this wasn’t the same outfit she used when fighting in Paragon. She had planned to throw two shuriken at the pebbles before they got too close, but that feeling sunk quickly.

If one of those pebbles were to hit a weak point, the fighter would be hurt or knocked out for a few days, and the speed of the pebbles were enough to prove it. Even if the caster didn’t know it, the pebbles could hurt someone, but her current position from the battle prevented her from moving.

While she was fast enough, now wasn’t the time to give herself away.

Toru continued to watch the two swordsman, mesmerized by their fluid movements, thinking they almost appeared to perform an ancient dance….two warriors bodies honed for battle…….

A soft splash caught her attention, her gaze snapping in the direction of the small pond in the back of the garden. Her eyes narrowed as she surveyed the area attempting to locate the source of the disturbance. There, leaning against the trunk of one of the trees, stood a young boy in his early teens. His expression was dark and brooding as he idly rolled two pebbles between his deft fingers. She watched him a moment as his attention moved to Ryuu and Pyre. A mischievous gleam came to his eye as he looked first at his pebbles then back to the swordsmen.

A feeling of suspicion coiled in her gut as she tried to interpret what that look could mean. Her eyes darted back to Ryuu and Pyre for a moment. By the time she looked back at the boy, he was already taking careful aim. Toru knew what his intent was. So how could she prevent the sparring men from being pelted? Sure they were only pebbles, but if one or both of them were struck, they could become distracted. Their carefully planned movements could falter and one of them could be seriously wounded by a sword. Sparring was meant for practice but few people realized just how close to being real the sword play was.

As the boy launched the pebbles, Toru dropped silently from her perch in the tree. She landed lightly on her feet placing herself between the projectiles and their intended targets. A soft grunt of pain was all the sound she made as the pebbles both struck her right side below the ribs. The force was enough to send her off balance, staggering so that she stumbled and fell to her knees, then landing hard on her hip.

Grimacing, her hand moved on its own accord to her side. Gritting her teeth, she pulled up the bottom of her Gi to inspect the wounded area. The pebbles had traveled with enough speed for her to feel as though she’d been struck by bullets, the proof now embedded in her flesh. Two small wounds bled slightly, her fingers brushing over them, causing her to wince as she fell to her elbow. She remained there for a moment, breathing steadily, her mind focusing elsewhere to drown out the burning in her side. Her gaze darted back to where the boy had stood, but he was gone……..

((Gone? Wasn’t planning to hide.))

As Jase had first took aim with the two pebbles, a flicker of thought came to him. Someone was watching him but he wasn’t sure who yet or how many. All he had to go on was the emotion of suspicion lurking in the air like a faint odor in the wind.

He launched the two rocks and waited, drawing another pebble in his right hand. A girl leapt in the path and prepared to take the two shots. He quickly eyed the trajectory and speed of the pebbles just before they connected with the girl’s midsection and instantly launched his last pebble. The first two pebbles connected with decent force with Toru's ribs and bounced back, exactly how he had calculated. The last pebble was aimed to ricochet off of the first two as they fell toward the ground to keep them on course to the two sparring but he missed one.

The rock that he did manage to redirect ricocheted pass Toru’s ear with more speed than it had started with although now its accuracy had dropped by about 12%. The second of the 1st two rocks glanced off the last one, causing it to bounce back to the tree and reflect toward the sparing pair but on an arcing course.

Before the last rock arced toward the fight, Kanata quickly snatched it out of the air. His black kote cushioned his hand so no damage was dealt to his hand.

((hehe ok we'll say he was gone from her line of sight if you want :P))

Toru had jumped out in front of the pebbles so quickly; Yuri didn’t even know she was still in the garden. The next part made her wince. The pebbles landed hard on Toru’s skin, forcing her to drop to the floor.

Yuri leapt from the tree, dropping a few feet from Toru. She ran close and knelt at Toru’s side. The size of the welt had again made her flinch. The pebbles had hit her in between the ribs on her right side, causing some slight bleeding.

“Let me help you.” She said to Toru. She quickly unwrapped the grey cloth around her arm, then used it as a bandage for Toru, tying it around her midsection.

((OOC: I hope I didn't control your character by doing that. If I need to, I'll edit.))

((And just to clear the scene up, now instead of two rocks flying at Ryuu and Pyre, there's only one flying at them with nearly twice the speed but less accurate. Whichever of the two who posts 1st can be the target I guess....unless someone stops that one.))

((hehe no worries darlin, you are fine helping Toru little addlibs like that don't bother me. now if you had her choking on her own blood and dieing, it would be a different story :P :P :P but ya, yer fine and i think Ryuu's waiting to post until Pyre does))

Rolling with Ryuu's push Shadow Pyre watched as he began to spin again intent on striking at his back. He definitely was quite skilled with his sword using it as an extension of his being, just as he did, but this was the opportunity he was waiting for.

Moving his foot in the same direction as his opponent was he pivoted his body to follow him circling around to his adversary's front. As he did he brought his katana to bare on his competitor's throat intending to stop just short of the kill.

"I believe this match is over." he said, his blade glistening in the sunlight as it sped toward its' destination.

Suddenly, sensing a new threat, his free hand shot forward with lightning speed. As he brought his arm back he had two fingers extended displaying a pebble between them. Turning his head to follow the trajectory he spotted Ryuu's sister fallen to the ground, holding her side. The young asian girl he had followed earlier was by her side.

"Your sister is wounded." Pyre whispered to him immediately halting his attack.

Leaping into the air, he covered the distance between himself and the two young women almost instantaneously. Stepping up to the young woman he placed his hand over the now bandaged wound. All of a sudden, a black flame appeared in his palm as he pressed it against her injury. A jolt of pain coursed through his side for a few seconds before he removed his hand.

"You'll be fine." he reassured her as he began scouring the area for the assailant.

(( Just so you guys know, none of Shadow Pyre's features can be seen. His entire body is encompassed by shadow while his clothes are all worn over it. See the pic in my sig (not much of an artist so I used HeroMachine) . Also, to Toru the flame would have a cool, soothing sensation upon contact. ))

((cool, cool and what is this Hero Machine? where can I find it? lol))

(( HeroMachine is an online program that you can use to create a basic outline of what your character looks like. I used it all the time to create the look of my heroes before the game came out. ))

A very very slight grin came across Ryuu's face as he nodded pulling back his blade as it set non-chalantly milimeters from Shadow Pyre's ribs.

His face dropping all expression at Shadow Pyre's words as he followed him, stopping infront of the boy who had launched the pebbles at them. He keep his expression placid, his anger burning in his eyes as he looked into the boy's. He said nothing just stared him down, his hand lay uneasily on his newly shealthed sword.

Toru was a bit startled by the appearance of the pretty, young Asian girl as she appeared by her side, recognizing her as the girl who’d followed her from their class. Inhaling sharply at the girl’s touch, she offered a weak smile, which looked more like a grimace as she gritted her teeth. Who knew that two tiny pebbles could hurt so much…..of course when they traveled with the speed of bullets…..

Toru nodded her head as the young girl wrapped a cloth bandage around her, securing it snugly. “Thank you……” her words trailed off as she realized she didn’t know the girl’s name. “I’m Toru……what’s your name?” she asked in a low tone.

Before the girl could answer, Ryuu’s sparring partner appeared, kneeling beside the pair. He reached for her, placing his palm against her skin. Toru jerked beneath his touch, not because she feared him, but because he was male, and he was touching her. Other than when sparring, Toru usually tried to avoid contact with males. She told herself it was because guys were all jerks and only wanted one thing. But really, it was because she felt extremely naïve and awkward around most men….except Ryuu. She was at ease with him because he was her twin, she could tell him anything, and he would not judge her harshly for it.

Toru’s eyes widened as a cool, soothing sensation eminated from Pyre’s palm and into her side, the sting subsiding significantly. Her eyes darted around the room as she hissed frantically at him, “your powers….do not let the Sensei see you use them here…..it is forbidden….” She honestly did not want him to be ejected from the Dojo because he’d been kind to her……..

Just as Yuri had finished bandaging the wound, Toru had asked her name. Before she could answer, Pyre had to be the good guy and rushed in to help. While yes, it was nice to see someone help another; he didn’t have to push Yuri out of the way in order to do so.

He had run in so fast that he didn’t see where he was going. So when he ran to Toru's side, he was running to take over Yuri’s position. Instead of Pyre stopping at the last second, Yuri had to jump backwards, which knocked her off balance.

Yuri stood. She let out a long sigh and slowly walked over to Toru. Thoughts ran through her head what her previous master told her many times.

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

-Kindness leads to healing.-
-Anger leads to pain.-

-Mastering kindness can be your greatest weapon.-
-With it, you gain new allies.-
-Mastering anger is mastering death.-
-With it, everything you are and once had will degrade with time.-

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Yuri’s impassive face slowly exchanged for a smile. She ran the good things that had happened to her during the past years in her mind. She reminded herself that Pyre was at least being kind, even if he had a strange way of showing it.

She knelt be Toru once more, looking up to the wound she had just bandaged. What she saw took her breath away. She had seen these things before, from others heroes that she had met in China and in Paragon, but this was extraordinary.

A black flame materialized in Pyre’s hand. The dark energy slipped from the flame to Toru’s wound, pushing the skin cells to work over time, forcing them to reproduce at an incredible rate. The skin below the bandage had closed itself before her very eyes. Pyre had healed Toru using only his energy.

She always remained alone or with her master back in China. Seeing this up close was like going on her first mission, four years ago. It had been so long since she had been so excited, memories rushed back from when she was much younger.

Her thoughts were suddenly interrupted. “Your powers…Do not let the sensei see you use them here… It is forbidden…” Toru whispered to Pyre. She was right; powers were not aloud in the Dojo. She had read this in the list of the Dojo’s rules, or Code of Conduct.

Yuri lifted a hand to Toru. “Let me help you.” She said calmly. “We can go to the infirmary.” Hopefully Toru would play along. That is, hoping the Dojo had an infirmary.

But Toru had to act quickly. If anyone saw Pyre’s powers, this would be the time to make them think it was a hoax or an illusion.

“your powers….do not let the Sensei see you use them here…..it is forbidden….”

"I know, I don't care." Shadow Pyre said, his vision now locked on the boy that had launched the attack.

Beneath the visor of his helm a pair of crimson orbs appeared fixing their gaze on the assailant. He was about to confront him when Ryuu appeared before he could, however he made no move against him not even a word. The boy was lucky he had made it to him first as his blade was thirsty for blood after the bout. Too thirsty.

"I have to go." he said quickly, bowing to the two young ladies before moving swiftly towards the door.

"You grow soft human." an all too familiar voice echoed inside his mind.

"Shut up." Pyre muttered to himself as he quickened his pace.

And this is Ryuu & Toru's apartment. There are only 3 toons in the Dojo SG lol....had to do some alt shuffling to get enough prestige to decorate it as nicely as I did. But I figured they needed a place to live too :P lol

((OOC: Oh! Nice garden! Lots of trees give it that outdoor feel REALLY well. As for your pond... Well, at least you tried! Your excuse should be, "It hasn't rained in 8 years, your water pipes are broken, and even if you fixed them, you over did your water bill from last month, which still has to be paid and you are unable to find an alternate money source." *Gasps.*

One thing that you COULD do is exchange your 'gym' for the classroom you deleted. Other then that, it's one of the best bases I've ever seen! ))

((I wouldn’t say he could shoot pebbles as fast as bullets…he’s still pretty young and unskilled at the time. So long as you don’t have invulnerability powers, the small size and speed could still penetrate a little skin…))

Jase knew he had no place to run. The jig was up and all attention was on him. As Ryuu approached, he didn’t give him the chance to look down upon him and rose to his feet defiantly. He wouldn’t have hesitated to fight although he was unarmed. Fear or doubt didn’t cross his mind or face but scorn was ever present. Jase was just about ready to open his mouth to provoke the swordsman to attack but his actions were interrupted.

“Back off,” came a voice a half a dozen paces behind Ryuu. “If you are looking for the one who threw those rocks, then he is behind you,” Kanata cried as he continuously tossed a stone up and caught it with his right. “If you wish to draw your sword for battle then your opponent is me…” Those that had been watching the sparring lesson between Pyre and Ryuu had now turned and were whispering among themselves about what was going on.

The anger in Jase’s face disappeared. If he hadn’t been so angry for the others discovering him just a moment ago, he would have looked shocked but his face was merely blank. “…otherwise, I suggest you quell your anxious hand and stand down.” Kanata’s face was also not stained with anger. He simply had a serious look, like a man talking to another man about some solemn issue.

Jase, on the other hand, was beginning to show a bit of a stunned expression. His eyes passed from Ryuu to Kanata then back again, wondering who would budge on the issue first.

Ryuu looked down to his sister, not showing Kanata any sign of acknowlegement. His eyes peered to her newly wrapped wounds. His expressionless gaze returned to Jase, his eyes locked on him as if peering into his soul.

"Why do you take me for a fool?" he kept his stare on Jase, but projected his voice for Kanata to hear, "It is clear that when my sister droped from her place in the tree she took the blows from her front side... You are behind us." He listened cautiously to Kanata's movement, straining his ears to try and find where he stood without leting his eyes break off of Jase.

Toru nodded to the young woman. In an uncharacteristic move, she took the offered hand, setting her pride aside. For the sake of covering Pyre's use of his magic, she was willing to swallow said pride...this time. He had been kind, and she wanted to repay him by protecting his chances of remaining at the Dojo.

"Yes, let us go to the....infirmary..." she murmured.

The sound of voices distracted her, causing her steps to halt. Ryuu stood facing the youngster she'd seen throw the pebbles, yet he spoke to a stranger at his back. By the set of his shoulders....a tight knot formed in her stomach......."please," she thought to herself, "let his reason soothe this situation...." after all, there was to be no fighting amongst students unless it took place on a sparring mat......
