Alan Davis
Walt Simonson
Erik Larsen
Francesco

it depends a lot on which characters, My main would look great drawn by Davis or Larsen, Francesco could probably handle any of them really well, but my Wargod series of villains would have to be drawn by Simonson.

Now if only we had a way of contacting and commissioning these guys.

Marc Silvestri takes commissions, but only for established characters (Batman, X-Men, etc), not for characters of your own design. He's also really expensive, beginning at $2K USD.

I'm sure if the others (who still live) take commissions, their prices would be similar.

"If I had any dignity, that would have been humiliating" --- Adam Savage
Virtue Server: Kheprera, Malefic Elf, Lady Omen, Night Rune, La Muerte Roja, Scarab Lafayette, Serena Ravensong, Kyrse, and Arachnavoodoo among others.

Ed Benes used to take commissions, but he's too busy now. I would love to have Jim Lee or Ed Benes draw Brit, Warfox and Invincibelle.

Stuart Immonen is too busy to do commissioned work now.

But !

...maybe someone here can emulate the style of some of these guys... ?

Actually... my dream illustration would be done by one of the folks that does sci-fi book covers.

Boris Vallejo
Hajime Sorayama
Rowena Morrill

Don't forget to add Luis Royo to your list there, Prof.

Upon examination, some images in that link may be considered NSFW.
...Just sayin'.

Luis Royo is really good, I just wish he put clothes on some of his women and that some of them didn't look like they were posing for a trashy nudie mag. He has a really great style.

I also like:

Susan Seddon Boulet
John P Wagner

That's my thing with Royo, his work is excellent, but most is a bit TOO barbaric for me.

Not that I don't like it... it just doesn't 'fit' my characters all that well.

Except for La Diablesse or Baroness Samedi. A Royo take on Samedi would be the ultimate.

Oh!

I want Joe Phillips to make one of my Aeroneseseses(? Aeronii?) as one of his Joe Boys.

I know I already made my choices but I would love to give honorable mention to Ross Andru. When I started collecting Spiderman he was the artist. So many wonderful memories of his work on that series. I'dd like to add him to my list.

I remember his work on old, old Metal Men. In a way, he makes me think of a thin, gangly, cheeky British guy - with an equal parts charm and annoyance. After Romita (Sr.) he was really good for Spiderman.

John Romita Jr.*

(You have no idea how close I got to getting these two done)
