The Meeting of the Minds [Semi-Open/Closed RP]
[ QUOTE ]
The mastermind removed his finger from the trigger. "No need for them to find anything to help them out... Let us let the beast have his meal before they get away."
[/ QUOTE ]
Allen's ears twitched as he heard the mastermind's faint voice. He smiled fiendishly, hand-signaling to the troopers. They didn't much care about the thing coming up the cliff - unless it used echolocation or something to the like to navigate, it wouldn't be able to find the.
Especially with the wonderful distraction Kaos provided.
It wasn't going according to plan, but it was going well enough.
Signaling again, Allen leaped off his branch and to another. They made sure to choose only thick ones to remain silent as thy ehaded in the voice's general direction, hopping through the canopy silent as Shinobi...

Toy shot forward, Ginstar and Essex in tow, before snapping to a perfect stop about ten feet away from the recon drone. The sudden shift of gravity took a moment to take full effect and Ginstar and Essex snapped forward like on the end of a whip. The two of them couldn't hold on and continued flying toward the drone until Toy's wrist flanges whirred loudly and spat white sparks, encasing the two of them in a force field that halted all their momentum.
The settled slowly down to the ground, where the shields disappated.
"Exciting, huh," Toy said as he looked at the shield in front of them.
Statesman said let there be heroes, and there were heroes.
Lord Recluse said let there be villains, and there were villains.
NCsoft said let there be nothing, and there was nothing.
A massive rumble signified the noises coming closer, before another smash sent a handful (for a giant) of trees heading up the 'cliffside' of the island. However, the rumbling stopped, as the noises receeded. Apparently, the creature did not want to get any closer.
"Hmm..." the dark voice spoke, nothing happening anymore.
"So, you avoided the creature... Good enough, I suppose, to avoid such a thing, I guess you are tougher than I thought... Although now I have a pesky insect above my base. Excuse me if I pay less attention to you, but the flyer is slightly annoying."
Blasts of red plasma started heading for the ship, causing a nice cover fire for about 8 protector drones to head toward the ship. If any got close, they would drill through the hull, and enter the ship. Because of the Protector's programming, once inside, they would attempt to disable the ship from the inside with hacking.
"Aah... The joys of electronics, don't you think so? Amazing what technology can do. For instance, if I thought there was anyone in-coming from some random tunnel, I could spread the shield about 30 more feet, and destroy them all unprepared!"
He lingered over the button, before chuckling. "Heh, but of course, that is entirely impossible."
Hal landed neatly beside Essex and Ginstar, his Phantasm disappearing as he did so.
"You okay, Essex?" he asked tentatively.
Experiment, entirely forgetting his own advice at Essex's whip-lash, stopped right before the shield, hearing the hum of it next to his face. He had closed his eyes, not wanting to see his face be split apart roughly. He flew back, landing quickly.
"Okay, once everyone is ready, we should fly in slowly inside the Force Field. That way, it will be harder for motion sensors to find us, and we should be flying low enough to keep radar from getting us. Now, all we need is some way to keep the turrets offa us, and we are home free."
*PSHHHHH....* came a hiss, as doors opened on the facility, missiles and blasts firing off at the Osprey eagerly. "Hahaha! Take that! Die, birdy, die!"
The flying osprey, that had somehow got into the shield, puffed away. "Damn birds. Now, back to the enemy ship!" With that, the turrets turned toward THE Osprey, firing at the ship with all their might.
"Bogies incoming bogies incom-" but the pilot's distress call was interrupted by the explosions of the Osprey.
Kaos turned to see his helicopter crashing down. "Big bird down, repeat big bird down, operation Plan Z is a go. Repeat Z is a go." Suddenly his men moved through the jungle, all in different directions. Kaos himself followed a rustling in the treess. "I know chamo suits when I see them pal. Turn it off or I'll see if I can kill you with a grenade. Don't make me try it."
Static and Workout Man reached the exit. "Roder cap'n. But shouldn't we worry about that falling helicopter headin right for us?"
An animilistic grunt was made, before an odd, slightly large sort of creature jumped out of the bushes at Kaos and the others. However, it didn't even seem to match up to the fading noises in the distance. Still, this thing was easily super-human size.
Claws with bloodied tips swiped directly at Kaos quickly, attempting to keep distance more than slice him. At a distance, it was easy to tell the animal was like a mix of a tiger, a bear, and some sort of large dog, much like a wolf.
It then turned tail and ran into the bushes at a frightening speed, much like a cheetah.
"Oh no cougar."
Kaos' men swept in on the creature, all firing laser rifles and other weapons at it. Several fired cryo beams at it, trying to at least slow it. "Die doggie die!"
Experiment looked up at the incoming chopper, and grunted in reply. "You know, this could have been a hell of a lot easier. People could have NOT been attacking the same place we were. People COULD have waited for us to destroy whatever that guy has, but NO! Whoever they are just HAD to try and attack at the SAME time we were! You know, sometimes I wonder--"
He remembered where he was, and grunted again. "Uh... Everyone, get in the forcefield, and fly like a huge ship is about to crush you."
"You mean it isn't?"
"Why don't you let me lift it for ya?" Worout Man suddenly leap into the air and, like Superman, slowed the choppre's descent. It landed nearby the tunnel. "Eh, peace o' cake."
"Now that the annoying ship is out of the way..." came the mastermind's voice, speaking to the fast-approaching intruders, "Why don't you tell me why you are here? Obviously, it is not to help me destroy Experiment 2.0 and his friends... You seem to be after something."
"Hmph." Kaos smiled. "Really, do you truly think I need to tell you? Wait a minute, Experiment? He's here?" Kaos mind went crazy. When it came back he smiled. "Perhaps we can help each other..."
"I doubt it." Came the reply, as much more rustling was heard.
The creature got more friends.
((Okay, I don't say this much, but. . .
. . . I'm confused. What's going on? XD))
((Well, as far as I know, the heroes are stopping at the edge of the Field, and a distraction of sorts is already happening, though unplanned, meaning we have the ability to get on the island unnoticed while the mastermind is occupied with Allen, and Kaos.))
". . . So," said Hallucinogen. "Are we going? Or are we going to wait for some maniac to steal a deadly artifact and hurl this planet into the depths of madness?"
He considered. "I have no idea what that meant. Except that we're wasting time."
Being a sarcastic person, Shinji said, "Oooh deadly maniacs and total madness YEAH!!!!"
Experiment nodded, the Force Field Genrator becoming fully active.
"Okay guys... Let's go."
With that, the generator floated forward, coating everyone with a shield that created a path through the shield itself.
((Next 2.0 post, this RP will become closeded!))
His Phantasm appearing again and scooping him up, Hal floated through the opening, preparing to fire if anything attacked them.
((I'm still kinda wondering myself how the whioe standing on water thing is working out, seeing how the shield was, what, 50 miles around the island...? Ah, whatever... ))
Things were at a dead end. The guy wasn't nowehere in sight, jut broadcasting his memo over and over again. What was really annoying was that he wasn't even being original. What had today's villainy come to?
Then again, maybe that was just the answer. They hadn't been able to get a whole lot of data from the drone earlier, but they did manage to get the locations of a few turrets - not that it was hard considering the things had been blazing away into the sky not a few minutes ago.
Allen silently signaled his troopers, motioning them to stop. Not a minute passed, hen the plan was ready. They split off in three diections, always listening for anything that might be of importance as they leaped from branch to branch with no more sound than the wind...

Frowning, the mastermind stood. He silently yet quickly walked over to a control panel, hitting a few buttons. "I tire of this game," he spoke, the transmission still going out, "I will allow my defenses to continue their blockade of my facility, but until you get here... Why don't I show you a prototype of the prototype I am sending to Paragon City in a while? Perhaps you will see why I have this base."
A suit of armour rose from a shrubbery, apparently a secret doorway into wherever it was held. It was black, with blood-red colouring. It went from the kneeling position to a standing, battle-ready position. Scanners initiated as he began flying over the trees and plants.
"That Mark I Alpha Android was my first destructive force. It is MUCH weaker than the Mark II..." The bot aimed at a large area of plantation, a blast incinerating the area, as odd calls of mutated animals cried out, "But then, that doesn't mean it is actually WEAK..."
((Okay, everybody, I may not be able to post anything through Wednesday, and if I do it will be very erratic. Must give some attention to my friend visiting from California. . . If the thread must go on, Essex can control Hal. She probably knows what he'd do. I will post if I can, but don't count on it. ))
((...SPY!))
2.0 observed the shielding, took a deep breath, and stepped through. The shield hummed over him as he took the step, and he let out his breath after the second.
He turned to the others. "Okay, people. Let's get moving. No time to waste, what with the 'very far from island' thing we got goin' on. The FF Generator should let those of you who need it to walk or run through. The rest of us should fly or carry the others."
He turned to the trolls, frowning. "...Uh... You guys might want to let people carry you... Don't need anyone drowning JUST yet."
((Haha! I not only got us through the shield, I managed to beat Devious' obstacle of the whole 'water' thing! Haha!...
...I feel hollow.))
"I'm ready when you are," Toy said, grabbing Ginstar again and hovering into the air.
OOC: Since I am also horribly lost, let's just assume that Toy follows Experiment.
Statesman said let there be heroes, and there were heroes.
Lord Recluse said let there be villains, and there were villains.
NCsoft said let there be nothing, and there was nothing.
Experiment sped up to catch up to Essex, Ginstar, and Toy quickly. He called over with a small amount of humor in his voice. "There ya go, Ess! That is MUCH better. Told you you could speed up!"
However, after a few seconds, a light could be seen at the end of the underground tunnel. At the ends of it, obvious parts of advanced construction could be seen. 2.0 lost his air of humor, calling to his allies.
"I was constructing a tunnel through the base. It was supposed to connect to the Rogue Isles, but I got off course. Anyway, once you get outside, stop. I mean it, if you don't, you may find yourself seperated. About 25 feet from the entrance of the tunnel is where the shield starts. Use my Recon-Drone as a marker."
As if on cue, a small spinning drone with a camera attached started blinking blue right outside the tunnel.
