Thank you Cuppa for verifing what those of us on test believed. THank you Posi, for attempting to appease the masses.

I have been on CoH since sept. I own CoV but i do not play it. I have a 50 in my pocket, and many alts. I'm still trying new arch and powersets. i LOVE CoH, why, cause you can be a hero. When i was doing my 50 i hit every tf and badge mission possible, took me about 6 months to get her to 50. Granted i am a badge and info junkie, i like to know what i'm doing, and why i'm doing it. If i find myself getting blah's i grab my def and go to Hollows to help buff and heal the lowbies. It is not in my SG that I do it, I do it cause it's what being a hero is all about. Passing on the hero mentality. I've met toons 20 lvl later that still remembered what i did for them.

So in that vein, I will sit back and enjoy being a hero through Nerfs, bugs, lagfests and server crashes. Let i7 come when it comes. The devs still bring us special events, and media content.

You can step up and be a hero, or go be an orc Less lag for me.

PS i read all posts on a thread before i hit that reply tag, i've always thought it would be great if others did the same.

niave rant over, blast away

Stick around a while and wait for the next HO-nerf or ED-like topic to burn through your soul. You might not feel as warm and fuzzy heroic as you do now. Or maybe you actually will. The cartel needs a few more ... members ...

I left CoH after i5...and anyone who has a 50 that was a Tank in those days, knows exactly why. After CoV was released, I came back and have been a villain Stalker ever since then. It is the Only class I even play hard core. Its my retaliation of all the nerf cryers out there that nerfed my Tank for me....So now, I make heroes PAY!!! hehe

Peace all......

Agreed this i7 wait is kinda crazy. I love the screenshots and videos and that is plenty to keep my interest. But 2 months isn't coming soon, thats freaking torment. Then you get a teaser patch and still nothing lol you guys got me there. Now then this end off month "date" can we get more precise seeing how its the end of the month now. : ) God Speed sailor and all soldiers who play and protect us for real..ty

Well, that certainly burst my bbl alright!

I'm reponsable for a small website about CoH, and I first post about I7 (the official annoucement) on Feb 2 2006. .. kinda long wait don't you think ?

Well get ready to wait some more. Prolly won't be out in early June. For that matter why June? Why not July? Hell, lets make it Holiday content & wait til Thanksgiving/Christmas for it. I think it's the phantom issue that will never come out @ all. But instead, will be leaked a little here ....
a little there ....

Note: I've only read the first 4 pages and the last page of posts.

1 - Thanks Cuppa for at least letting us know.
2 - I would rather wait and have less bugs.
3 - Its understandable this update would take a long time. This is a massive update.
4 - Considering its mass we should be greatful that NCSoft hasn't gone the way of Everquest and now WoW(at least not yet). Meaning at least thus far we get our expansion packs with all the added content for FREE. If I had prepaid additional money just for i7, THEN i would complain about the wait.
5 - I do wish that a dev didn't say it was going to be out in May only to have the statement later determined false. I know they are trying to get it out asap and that further bug fixes and tweaks are necessary before that can happen. But from a customer service standpoint, its quite the taboo to set an expectation that you can't live up to. But oh well.

In the meantime I guess I'll just work on getting as many of my toons to 40 before they nerf my powerleveling method.

well done brayyn

now for the polar opposite of my dear friends post

this is bleep i agree with all the people that are upset and for specific reasons.
1. thank you cuppa ive always appreciated you
2. DO NOT HYPE SOMETHING AS "SOON" when soon isnt even in the realm of what it is how about I7 coming " when we damn well please" or " when we get it done" but dont claim soon when you could have said anything else that is more correct than soon.
3. posi did infact say "this month" well its not and my comments on this cant be put on the forum cause children read it

4. while i do appreciate the no bugs thing guess what you said soon and this month the bugs should be fixed. see point 2 and 3

5. i have decided that i refuse to pay for this game any longer, as it so happens someone asked me to help them and in return they would pay for my account for a year and thus i feel compelled to wait longer since i dont have to do the " im wasting my money waiting" thing

6. i also understand that its a big update but what the hell kinda marketing / pr people work there? no offense to cuppa and co. who might be considered part of pr. but who in thier right minds says hey guys lets tell them coming soon. and then doesnt have it come soon.

7. i had 2 people purchase this game and a number of others reac the account because i said check the site its coming soon cant be that long ( feels like a [censored] now ) but now these other people are blowing thier money waiting for this update that i boasted to be so nice and your soon has turned into eventually

8. most of my complaining is due to the misuse of the word soon. and the timing. i like the devs i like the game but your pr and marketing people need a swift kick in the ...... i dont blame the devs i dont blame the forum mods i dont blame anyone but the single soul that thought to put the word soon on everything

hindsight 20 20 isnt how to look at everything

Just a niggle point:

EQ2 and WoW both provide provide periodic 'no additional charge' content updates in addition to the paid expansions. They may put a little less into their 'no additional charge' content updates than CoX, but it's a variation of the same business model that NCSoft/Cryptic are using. Also, a buck or two a month of our monthly fee goes toward those "free" content updates in CoX. So, they're not so "free", but rather provided at 'no additional charge' beyond the monthly and are reasonably priced.

Otherwise, I'm in total agreement with the rest of your post.

A few points that may assist you in the future when dealing with software and the word "soon" (that is a year and a half down the road after you've actually stopped playing, I guess)

1) Software is always later than they say.
2) Software is always buggier than they say.
3) Before release, people will complain about waiting for it.
4) After release, people will complain about the developers not waiting longer to fix all the bugs.
5) "Soon", with respect to software releases, is a comfort word - it has no real meaning. If they don't give a specific date, then it comes when it comes. If they do give a specific date, see #1.
6) Complaining about any of these facts will change none of them.
7) The company is not responsible to you as an individual. You have no power. You are not a unique snowflake.
8) Given all of the above, it's still better to hear something that may be inaccurate than nothing at all. It's better to have your opinion heard (even if it is ultimately dismissed) than not.

and finally

9) Claiming that 7-8 months doing the same thing is boring and repetitive and threatening to leave to WoW over it is the very definition of irony.

Nuts

I love being a hero, I also have CoV but only play a hero. And I'm not gonna get tired of being a hero. But I DO really want the new capes! the villians got all the really cool capes! And I want hooves and horns an all for the dark/dark scrapper I want to build (think hell boy).

I even KNOW that 'soon' is a registered trademark for 'someday'

But dam it, they need to hire one more guy! would they really go from profitable to shutting down the game by hiring ONE MORE GUY!?

I still love ya Devs, I'm just really really hurt and disappointed in you

((not really, just HURRY UP!))

Hmm ... Cuppa said "not before the end of the month" ...

Posi said "this month" ...

Maybe it'll be released *at* the end of the month, and both will be true!

OK, grasping at straws here ...

Yer beautiful, Tex! I was thinking very much along the same lines as I read this thread.

I'm quite surprised to find a bunch of folks with less patience and a bigger sense of entitlement than I've run into on the comic book message boards, though. I thought their howling about late issues was bad.

Dec out.

GAH!!!!!!!!!!!
*goes insane*

You get people complaining that:
a. ) something bugged
b.) something isn't released yet
c.) the devs dont give times
d.) when the devs give times (based on the avaliable info at the moement) and are incorrect.

Lightnen up.

Its stupid remarks like that which generally makes the devs reluctant to post ANYTHING.

Its coming, when? who knows, probably when its working right. Quit quoting Pos. I'm certain when he made that quote it was based on the current info they had at the time and thier estimated projections.

Things come up. With that mentailty, i hope you never complain if you get fired from being late to work. Its the same thing. @#$% happens.

[/ QUOTE ]

QFT...

I'll take I7 when it comes. Hopefully the longer it takes, the less bugs we'll have to deal with.

Things come up. It happens.

You say you're bored? Not to sound like an @$$hole, but that's your problem, not theirs. Try a new toon, a new game, go outside and mow the lawn, whatever, but complaining to the dev's because you're bored is just silly....

[/ QUOTE ]

I have to wonder why it is "silly" to complain about being bored with a product to those who produce that product? I should say that I feel your comments supporting an obviously poorly handled issue release are silly.

I mean, are we unable to express our opinions to the development team if our opinions are negative or even harsh? And, even though the forums are maybe not the ideal place for those opinions to be addressed by the devs at least posting them in a thread that a red name has already posted in does make a little sense.

I also wonder, to those who extend the comment of exchanging less bugs for a timely release; what does that mean? Are you actually suggesting that the delay of this issue will yield a release that has an acceptable amount of bugs over an unacceptable number? But, whats the measure? One, ten, fifty bugs? How many bugs would be acceptable to anyone making this statement and to those of you offering this excuse or rational for a extended release time frame, will you all be withholding any and all of your future complaints over bugs related to this issue?

I can see it now;

"What the %^$@ ! You took this long getting this issue out and I stood behind your delay only to have this bug make my game experiance unenjoyable!!???"

So then, would I be justified in pointing our how silly your opinion is if that situation does comes up? After all, a bug free launch of I7 no matter when it does come to live is, dare i say, "highly unlikely" and even one bug is too many if its a bug that directly affects your gaming experiance.

Oh but thats right, Things come up! What a wonderful crutch to have at your disposal. Sure it does a fine job to help you along in the short term but if this is a crutch that the devs are using I would envision it as being a triple wrapped in duct tape, arm pit cushion worn off, discolored and stained crutch by now.

My whole point in this response is to say that the handling of this issue release in my own opinion has been very poor and unprofessional and my opinion as well as the opinion of anyone else feeling the same way is far from silly or even unwarranted. I DO appreciate being updated as anyone would and I will not be leaving the game or crying for the developers jobs, i simply wish to voice my dissapointment over the whole situation and hope that future updates will be handled better overall.

Whoops, and as for the OP...... So we not only have and continue to wait for this issue but we will also be rewarded with not getting a respec at the same time as the live I7 release? Throw us a bone here Devs!
