I had no idea... that's just brilliant. Thanks!
Thanks. Now I don't have to worry about missing something while running around in a solo mission with the sound off.
Hmmm...
Can this be modified to exclude enemies?
This is really cool and I've added it to my notes.
Not really. Here are the parameters you can use with target_custom_next:
enemy - Hostile enemies
friend - Friendlies (including pets)
defeated - 0 HP targets
alive - Living targets
mypet - Inlcude only your pets
notmypet - Exclude your pets
base - Include only passive base items
notbase - Exlude passive base items
teammate - Include only teammates
notteammate - Exclude teammates
I think what you're looking for is "notenemy", or something like that.

Actually, I tend to pop music CDs into my DVD drive while playing COH. I have the COH sounds turned down and media players volume cranked up.

Can you combine these, for example using both "friend" and "notmypet" if you wanted to target a fellow MMs pets for buffing, say?
Trying to think of a way to combine these to get the effect someone else asked about in another thread, targeting an enemy PC in PvP without having to toggle through various NPCs in the way. . . If "enemy" refers to both, though, it may not be possible to distinguish.
Still works.
Cant wait to try this
Is there any way to specify the team mate in position 1, for example?

BTW, you're not limited to just these options....I experimented with using partial names to find things. For example, I used this bind to locate "Mystery Gift" (aka Presents) during the Winter Event. This bind will find the nearest Present, lock on to it and follow/pull you towards it. This made getting the Toy Collector badge a lot easier for me.
/bind g "target_custom_next gift$$follow"
Sorry, I'm posting this after the event is over, but this is the first time I've seen this post otherwise I would have replied sooner. And I hope that you can use this next year.

Whoa! Great discovery! Any more experiments with this?
Very nice. Thanks.
You can also use "target_name".
For example: "target_name Sapper".
I use binds set up for quantums, cysts, sappers and all the named giant monsters.
"target_name gift" also works.

I believe the slash command for that is
/team_select #
Where # is a number between 1 and 8, corresponding to the team-mate you're trying to select. Those are bound to Shfit+1 to Shift+8 by default and may be re-bindable through the options menu, though I'm not sure.

How about targetting players in PvP? I'd ideally like to bypass pets and NPC enemies and just lock in on the player foes...is there a value for that we can plug in?

I find this bind helpful:
/bind G "targetcustomnext notmypet"
Now, when you press the G key, you will automatically target any *thing* in your field of vision (except your own pets).
These things include:
* glowies
* other players
* enemies
* doors (including elevators)
* citizens
* contacts, trainers, and so forth
This is very useful for finding glowies: press G and see what turns up in the Target display. Things like Desks, Whiteboards, and so forth are glowies to click. Note that glowies show up even if you've already clicked them.
Also helpful for finding doors, contacts, and other things you want to approach. Doors appear as "Dr" in the Target display.
Once the thing that you want to approach is in the Target display, just hit F (Follow) to move towards it.
If you target another player, hit C (Chat) to send them a tell, or O (infO) to see their information.
Enjoy!
