Nice pics!
And think you need to come up with a toon in honor of Positron bestowing bunny ears on ya... Just a thought...
[ QUOTE ]
But it sure is a knee-slapping, keg-of-a-time for them to charge outrageous prestige amounts for a broken base & rent system, right? What FUN it is to emulate an economy in a casual MMO with no valid currency, no markets that influence supply or demand, or worthwhile incentives to invest in it.
<insert eye-roll smiley here>
[/ QUOTE ]
Wow, looks like the thread was pruned a bit (thank goodness)
Hmmmmm.... well, my sub-10-player SG seems to be doing OK base-wise, considiering we've filled up our basic plot and are now working towards a larger plot or a supercomputer. Besides, wasn't it already stated that base items, costs, and rent would be further reviewed next issue?
Now back to our regularly scheduled program, already in progress.

Do they have bunny ears in-game yet? If not, I'll have to ask Posi to have the art team look into this

Because I am a firm believer in the need for multiple playthroughs to see/achieve everything. I don't agree with being able to earn all the badges/fully experience every mission on a single playthrough. And fixing it so you can't earn badges through missions that are not your own is a good way to fix that.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, I disagree in part...I'm also very much against anything that removes "option", which I feel your suggestion would do.
[/ QUOTE ]
QFT
There is no reason to make badge-collecting any more of a "challenge" than it already is. We received quite enough "challenge" through I5 and I6 to make up for perceived balance perceptions on characters choosing to use one character to collect badges.

[/ QUOTE ]
Meh, people are going to be pissed no matter what happens.

It's not likely the devs will "fix" it so you can't earn badges through missions that are not your own, so the issue is moot IMO.

[/ QUOTE ]
Yes. Hopefully the review will result in an across-the-board reduction in prestige base and item prices and rent.
Grats on your SG's progress! Many other smaller SGs aren't quite as content as yours. Otherwise, there would be no need for a review in the first place, would there?
[ QUOTE ]
I went to the NcSoft event too and had a chance to ask Positron and CuppaJo lots of questions. They were very patient and answered almost everything I asked. Here is what I remember (all subject to change, of course):
Wings, Trenchcoats - Both are coming very soon. Trenchcoats will be unlocked by the long term subscriber program. Wings are costume options and will not be specific to any certain AT.
I asked Positron if currently exclusive villain powers will be made available for heroes. His answer was "we have discussed it". He wouldn't say anything more on that.
Updates to Boomtown, Faultline, and the Rikti Crash Site are currently being worked on and expected for Issue 8. We will be able to enter the ship. The zones are being redesigned with new art, contacts, etc using Striga and Croatoa as models.
They are datamining lots of base stuff including base rent. There will probably be some adjustments, but no promises there.
Hero/Villain teaming - There will be lots more coming. Some big threat/enemy will require heroes and villains to put aside their differences and work together.
Pocket D - lots more stuff is coming.
SG size issues, such as basing membership on account rather then character -They looking into it, but its not a high priority because relatively few supergroups are running out of space.
Skills - Not coming. Ever. They tried 9 different systems and couldn't find a fun one.
Universities - They will be doing something with them in Issue 8.
Game Events - More are planned. There will be a Halloween/Fall event this year.
Level 50 content - Currently in the works. This has become a higher priority because the percentage of players with a level 50 has grown.
Fighting an evil version of yourself - Its something they would like to do, but it would require quite a bit of programming. The biggest issue would be for masterminds, since there is currently no AI to handle NPC versions of them.
5th Column - They are going to be coming back. The gladiator badge is not all we will see of them.
Heroic animal-themed costumes - Sounds nice but not a high priority.
Positron said that badge junkies will hate him for one of the villain I7 contacts - There is a badge that you can only get if you complete all of a certain contact's missions. And every mission is timed and can be failed. He said that the times are not long, but not so short that it is impossible. Also, you can only get the badge by doing the missions yourself. joining someone else for them will not award it.
Server transfer - It is in the works. There will likely be a fee for doing it. This is because they can't completely automate the process and will have to hire people to move characters over and change names when necessary.
Again, please note that this is all subject to change and to my own memory of what was said there.
[/ QUOTE ]
Ok, from the stuff about the Hero/Villain teaming, a Halloween event, and the once again confirmed return of the 5th, i'm lead to assume that these are one and the same and the event could be either.
"Fall of the Council"
"Fall of the War Walls"
"Rise of the Reichsman"
"Return of the Reichsman"
I'm most likely wrong, but "IF" i'm right, i'm so gonna post a "Called It!" thread.
[ QUOTE ]
I had two questions maybe people could answer -
did they say if Wings will move or will they just be static costume pieces like the wings on Brian Blessed's back in most of the Flash Gordon movie? That would suck.
Thanks.
[/ QUOTE ]
Wasn't at the meet & greet, but I found out through other means that the plan at the time I heard about wings IS to have them move/flap to some degree. IIRC you'll see the wings flap when jumping up & dropping down.
Not being a chatty, inquisitive type I didn't ask for more details, so I don't know if this includes vertically rising & dropping while in flight mode.

Tha major reason why wings have been held back for so long is animation (the same reason capes weren't realeased until I2). They want the wings to move right when you are flying, running, jumping, using weapons, blasting, etc. This is why originally they were researving wings for an Epic AT, so they would not need to create animations for every AT in the game. However, if wings are now going to be released for any AT, it would represent a singificant ammount of work on the art and animation teams' parts.

You mean like the "War Wall Defender" badge that gets rewarded regadless of whether you succeed or fail?
Just glad they got the "Time spent in BB/ Siren's/ Warburg" badges fixed. No more spending 5 consecutive hours in a zone
[/ QUOTE ]
No, I mean, as in fixing other mission badges (Like the Save the Fortuneteller mission) so you can't get the badge by joining their mission. It has to be YOUR mission.
[/ QUOTE ]
Strongly disagree, particularly as many are required for accolades and (unless you are carefully following the third party sites, unlikely for a new player) there's nothing to suggest that either this contact has something special or this mission is unusually important.

Not fun at all. Real life happens sometimes...cats knock over something with a loud crash, bosses call with an emergency, kids get hurt, also there are technical problems (disconnects, server crashes, client crashes, lagged beyond all belief). That's the sort of cheap trick that has me leave a gamemaster's table and never return.

Except the Accolades don't provide a huge enough bonus to be required, and what's the point of playing if you already know everything?

Think the key words are 'third party sites" which are not provided by NCSoft and only endorsed as "fan sites". Like a digital Prima Guide. Players who want to discover things for themselves will never go to these references.
I don't expect CoX to start putting in caveats of info regaring mission badges and such. It's part of the mystery and discovery of the game.
Nintendo didn't tell me where the Warp Zones were in SMB - other people did
However, finding out about a badge and not being able to earn it by helping others with their missions would probably not be fun IMHO, especially if the badges were required for accolades.
I can see both points of the argument, but IMHO, because the way the current system works, it would be unfair not to be able to earn certain badges because you took mission X instead of mission Y, and will never get a chance to do misison X again without teaming.
What will be the verdict on these badges Posi was talking about at the M&G? I'll make my decision when I try I suppose. I'll wait until I can give feedback based on experience vice speculation.
The Meet & Greet looked awesome! Really wish I could have made it, but I had something more important to attend to.
Anyways, is there any news whatsoever on the date of the next possible Meet & Greet? I know that it's a bit early for them to post any news about it, but did any of the devs happen to mumble something about the date and time of the next?

Ouch. Ok, when i7 goes live, I'll wait till the major badge-aholics are done before even thinking about it.

Just wanted to add (because I just remembered from the Meet & Greet):
I think Positron's greatest practical joke is the Task Force Commander accolade, which requires the badges from all six of the Freedom Phalanx Task Forces.
Now you will be forced to do Positron's dreaded TF if you want this accolade
Edit: I already have this done, so expect no sympathy
