Official Thread for Stalkers: Dark Armor
if i recall, Dweller gives Immobilization resistance, which means that if you do get Immobilized it wears off faster. Obsidian shield gives protection, which mean it takes a higher magnitude to Immobilize you in the first place. Even if they give both, it just means that the protections would stack and the status effect would require a higher magnitude to affect you and that the effect would end sooner than if you just use one or the other.
For status effects there are generally two sorts of mitigation that are available: Protection and Resistance.
Protection: The magnitude of the status effect has to exceed the the magnitude of your protection to affect you.
Resistance: The duration of the status effect is reduced by your resistance.

I think the Accuracy debuff that accompanies a Dark attack is sweet for Stalkers. I like the Dark Attack set so far, with one exception. Is there an attack set for Stalkers that misses more? It's routine to miss 3 or 5 times in a row.
SHEEESH.
I have 3 Green Accuracy TO's and I miss miss miss. I'm fighting even con and +1 mobs.
I'll have to comment on Dark Armor later, when I get more than 2 powers (I took attacks the first 4 choices).
Pulsating sound blows goats and causes migranes. Will be deleting my dark/dark stalker very soon as I refuse to play a class that causes physical discomfort.
Energy useage seems high on them too.
I also dont like how hide doesn't remove aggro from you if you run out of range. Had some lt chase me from hell and back even after breaking visual contact and having the hidden words showing i was hidden.

It's annoying that the constant sound is back. For the last several months my level 33 Dark Armor using brute's shields would go silent after a few seconds. i loved it and it was the only thing that enabled me to level him past 14. Back before issue 5 i had a Dark Armor scrapper that i deleted because the sounds were unbearable once i started to need more than one shield active at a time. (The fact that the end costs of Dark Armor at the time made it almost impossible to use attacks and defenses at the same time didn't help either, but it was the physical pain the sounds caused that induced me to delete the scrapper rather than wait for the implied end cost fixes.)
Please Devs, make the Dark Armor sounds go away after a few seconds of unpleasantness. Everyone will thank you, even the DA user's teammates.

Heh, since no one else is paying attention..
Welcome back Pacur!!! Oddly, you're one of the few people who've gone away for a while and I noticed.
Just remember, the more things change, the more they stay the same.

I noticed, I'd just already seen Pacur in global chat the other day. He asked what was new and I said that Dark Armor couldn't stack anymore.
No doubt he saw through my flimsy lie, though.

FWIW: Been doing some testing with my DM/DA Stalker and DM/DA brute, and i find that at least the armor noises are quieter than they used to be. Annoying, yes, but no longer as loud in a dental-drill-boring-into-your-forehead way. There was a time when Dark Armor sounds almost drowned out the other game sounds.
So far it seems like an ok set. The end drain of all the toggles is more of an issue on AT's that need to stand there and scrap/tank it out. Most stalkers hit and fade, so they aren't usually fighting for an extended period. Have to play a bit more and see how i like the later powers, but i keep getting distracted by my Claws stalker and scrapper. (Really tempted to try a Claws/DA stalker despite the fact that Claws seems to work best for extended fights, not hit and run.)

Well, so far I have played a DM/DA stalker to lvl 18 and I have to say that I am fairly impressed so far. I have taken every skill from dark armor so far (thanks to the temp travel powers from mayhem missions which let me focus on my skills rather than power pools). Being a stalker with a combo of defense and resist has really upped my survivability. I know the defense buff from hide + shadow dweller probably isn't amazing, but so far it's allowed me to rehide while under attack and it seems to combo well with dark melee's -ACC. I haven't really noticed any problems with endurance yet as long as I manage my toggles wisely and only run what's necessary. The only real drawback to the set that I can see right now is the lack of a more useful self heal and the absense of a really uber lvl 38 power. Is anyone else liking dark armor for stalkers so far or am I the only one?
Haven't tried a Dark Stalker yet, but as someone who's main is a lvl 50 D/D scrapper, I want my DA sounds back! I never found them annoying, just incredibly unique. I didn't mind turning off a few armors to hear glowies. : ) Now I just feel like something's wrong every time the sounds cut off after a few seconds. I think there's a silent majority who LIKES the original DA sounds. Count me as a no-longer-silent DA sound supporter!
You know, to be honest, I actually have always liked the DA SFX, and even joke about them with teammates that tend to not enjoy them very much lol. One of my dark armor characters was named "Black Noize"
Cool name! : )
before i decide to test Dark Armor. i wona know the ups and downs. can anyone tell me what are the Strengths and the Weaknesses of Dark Armor plz
oh and those who complain about the Noise... get over it ... theres something called Volume .. use it

Right. I count on sound cues to do a lot of things, ranging from being made aware of private tells, glowies, other powers going off. Now if I turn down the volume to prevent damage to my ears from the SHRILL tones of the dark armors, I'll miss immersion in the game. It is almost as bad with the SR bass for their armor.
I also dont think you have ANY right to tell people to "get over it" if you have not even tried it.
Please note: I have to use headphones so not to disturb others.

yes i have... i gotten a Ninja/Dark too 15 so far and the noise is no problem to me even if had headphones on. so yes i do have the right to say "Get over it" because if ur not gona play Dark Armor Stalkers because of the sound is a Stupid reason.
also there is a setting too lower the Sound offfects.
Preventing Hearing Loss is not a stupid reason at all. As you get older you'll realize this (I'll assume your age due to poor gammer and spelling). The fact that the developers have, for other ATs, made the drop off of the toggle sounds suggests that they too are aware of other people who like this feature (Toggle sounds do not persist). That you do not, suggests to me that you want to have a hearing aid in your future. I do not. If the developers insist on not having the sound drop off, they are encouraging people to go around the EULA to mute the problem sounds themselves.
Edit: I do realize that there is a volume bar, and I usually have it at 10%. Any lower and I can't hear tells, glowies, etc.

I've been testing a DM/DA stalker, and so far have managed to get up to lvl 24.
I've taken SJ instead of the TP which I wanted to take but didn't due to the lagging that was happening at the time. Also at lvl 22 I took stamina, even though I found endurance wasn't really a problem if I did the hit and fade method of attack, however I've only had 3 toggles running: CJ, Hide, and Dark Embrace.
Being test server, i've ended up spend most of my time in teams comprised of Thug MMs with the odd electric brute thrown in, and haven't been able to do almost any PvP testing. I've found on teams that I survive more if the pets grab the aggro just before or just after I start to attack... if I'm with a MM how doesn't even summon their pets, or just stands around waiting for the pets to attack when on Bodyguard mode, more then 2 or 3 mobs can be a challenge.
I just took heal from the armor set (at lvl 24), and yes, it does break being Hidden if you use it, but if you use it when facing multiple mobs, just after the alpha strike, it is very nice - provided it hits that is.
However, what I really wanted to see with the Dark Armor is an inherent power whereby if you have sufficient armor/autos from the set, (like say 2 toggles and the auto, or three toggles), you are able to re-hide quicker after being hit or executing an attack. Particularly if DA is combined with DM. Sort-of like an inherent partial Cloak-of-Darkness. It would help make the set more attractive, and would be in keeping to the 'shadowy stalker of darkness' theme.
(Another issue I'm having is trying to see if the armor is working from a numbers point of view... i.e. just got hit by an attack that cost 42hp, how much of the original attack is my armor just absorb?)

theres a Freakin reason the Font color is YELLOW! so you can see it when it happens. and if you dont have any sense at all to check ur chat box every few kills or w.e i feel very sorry for you.
Go ahead and Post a comment about what i said.. it dont matter .. just makes you look more stupid.
also .. tell me or post 1 person who lost there hearing too a game.
Well, I was civil to you, but you are failing to extend me the same treatment. So, from my perspective, I think you have who is what reversed.
While not the same AT, they are the same powers. Here is a redname saying it is a bug that the sounds are not fading for the Dark Armor set for scrappers nearly 7 months ago:

[/ QUOTE ]Umm..wait! I am hard of hearing, and I have gone through ALL kinds of noises over the years and each hearing test I went to has unchanged results. Be realistic, thinking a game can cause hearing loss is kind of ridiculous unless it creates a high pitch or very low pitch noise.
Shouldn't this be considered off topic by now? I don't think the devs want feedback on wether or not the set has good sound effects lol

Dark Armor - ANNOYING SOUND EFFECTS - VOLUME SET TO HIGH - CAN NOT HEAR OTHER SOUNDS WITH IT LINKED TO REST OF SOUND EFFECT. Sorry but, do you understand.
Like I stated earlier. Create a Personal SFX sound toggle under sound effects in Options. 3 powers and 2 travel powers sets can be annoying with toggles to mute them maybe everyone cwould play them and enjoy it rather than choosing another MMORPG. Remember they are out there.

Yes, first thing I noticed as well. Grrr, please please fix this. Was all set to play elec/dark armor brute but if the toggle sound effects go back to not fading away I will not be playing the set.

When a sound causes physical discomfort, it is too loud. When a sound that is too loud loops forever, you have 4 choices:
1 ) Stop playing the character/boot the offending toon from the team, refuse to team with anyone having that power.
2 ) Turn the sound off.
3 ) Continue playing and be in pain.
4 ) Violate the EULA and disable those sounds causing the pain.
To me anything but option #1 is unacceptable, and I shouldn't have to make that choice.

Works but the sound just slowly drives me insane! Even if it fades you have to listen to it again when you zone. Please lower the volume or get rid of it altogether. I'm going to punch a kitten now.

You would need to selectively turn down the volume of certain effects. Turning down the volume master just kills all of the good sound f/x as well. Not a solution.

I made a /dark this morning.
I noticed obisidina shield character creation description shows it as protecting from immobalization. Is this a bug? Dweller gives the same status protection. I have never seen two powers in the same status protection in a set. If we need to gain one as a replacement, I would preffer confuse over KB.
