Damn it. Who's left running the show?

So is there any time frame in which you developers that are running
the show plan to start brain storming for end game content?

Hey, things change in this business. Projects come up and interesting opportunities present themselves. But despite all the shifting and shuffling, know that CoH/CoV is in good hands and will remain that way. So no fear.

Thanks Gil, but I think the common misconception is:

Mega Dev Re-org = Corporate Faith Waning in COX Product

Which is TOTALLY not the case. Corporate re-orgs happen all the time. I think we're all spoiled by that first year when a ton of Devs posted on a daily basis whereas now its become very sporadic by a select few, and the posts are few and far between lately.

Staff changes happen and Lord Recluse's exit-stage right made some players insecure about COX future.

I'm sure it's all good, and as _Castle_ said the other day, there are a ton of folks working behind the scene that don't have an assigned red name (as yet).

The lack of Dev responses shouldn't signal paranoia to the players - but I think it'd be nice if a team of Devs could pop in once a month to say hi and tell us what's going on, how they're seeing the game progress with the players, etc.

And congrats to Statesman on the new arrival - between the baby and the Prima Strategy Guide, I totally understand why he's posting sparingly (9 to 5 job, writing, fatherhood are major timesinks).

I will ask though: Are Geko and Manticore still around? Talk about two names I never see anymore.

So the question that begs to be asked, is when are we going to see something new on the Tabula Rasa website. Seems like it's been ages since we've heard anything new about the game.

But I'd also be lying if it doesnt worry me about the thinning of staff for CoX The game got twice as big and the staff is getting smaller. So either they're running things alot more efficient, or it's a bad omen.

Or they've added a bunch of new people who maybe aren't on the boards. Let's remember that there are a whole LOT of people who work at both Cryptic and NCSoft who *never* post on these boards. The vast majority in fact. Having a couple public faces switch to different teams doesn't mean that the CoH/V teams are understaffed.

TR is looking very interesting, but I'm thinking they increased staff for the development and launch of CoV and are just going back to normal now.

Since it's doubtful they'll tell us, it's all speculative.

I will tell you this:

If I were NCSoft, and I had a number of titles under development, I wouldn't start a new community-relations person fresh on a new project- there's too much at risk, and establishing a good community base is too critical.

I'd take a well run, well established community that's going to be in need of reinforcements. Expansions aren't necessarily big enough of a deal, but the CoV expanshalone was a great opportunity- the beta forums needed community management beyond what the ever-caffeinated CuppaJo could be expected to provide, and the surge of activity accompanying a launch is a great way to give aspiring community relations folk a trial-by-fire that doesn't risk burning down the house.

Then, post-launch, as the communities stabilize, that now-experienced person can go on and more confidently take the reins of another project.

Now, don't get it wrong: the people we see here are just a small portion of the development team at CoH. Most of them you'll never see, as they're busy doing all the grunt work.

But Heck! do we really expect transparency from a studio named CRYPTIC?

Hey there boys & girls! Just dropped by to say howdy. Yep, still around, still with NCsoft. As some of you may know, I'm working on Tabula Rasa. Who wouldn't jump at the chance to work with Lord British? Anyway, I miss all of you (well, okay, most of you). Oh, hell, some of you...

Keep having fun.

Oh, I know. I should have been clearer with that ?; I meant that I wasn't sure what his particular job was.

Tabula Rasa suffers from the same thing that all Richard Garriot helmed projects do: inability to get things out on any sort of schedule. Hopefully they are bringing in some CoX folks to get things moving at faster pace, and get the dang thing out. It might end up being a blast....

I wish the 'City' vets best of luck there.
